Actually I just thought how brilliant this card is... Making us doubt about being "devoted" to our gods or simply abandon them since it may not be worthy. It fits JOU's thematic perfectly.
I wonder if they've foreseen it when developing the card. If so, kudos for them
It is a good answer vs control decks. Instant speed way to get rid of Detention Sphere and the newly spoiled Banishing Light. I would rather have this than Revoke Existence. However, it does seem weird to make a card like this.

I feel like, really bad now. Xenagos was the true hero of Theros: In a world clutched in the fists of petty and oppressive gods, one satyr had the courage to stand up to the man and fight for his right to party.
He shall never be forgotten.

The wording of the card is fun, as it allows it to get around the fact that Gods are not creatures (and therefore, technically, not Gods) with low devotion -- it checks stats of the exiled card, not of the permanent it exiles. For example, if someone somehow gets a token copy of a God, exiling it with Deicide won't give the effect since it's not an "exiled card".
Couldn't they have just gone with the anti-gods portion only and made it a jank common? I feel like this standard is moving far beyond the 'too much playable removal' threshold with this set. There are now like 3+ thoughseize-style effects, at least 3 variations on oblivion ring, more than 3 doom-blade cards (with variations on the restriction), at least 5 playable counters, and that's not even getting into black green... Pick any 3 colors that aren't red and you can probably make a deck entirely of playable removal spells for those colors... Heck, maybe even pick any two colors. (And I guess you do need red for Chained To the Rocks.)
I can't think of the word "Deicide" without thinking of that overly long Bleach arc.
Aizen did not even die at the end of it.
Anyway, it just seems odd to print something like this card. They want the gods to be playable and they did just give us Banishing Light, so why exactly do we need this card? I like instant speed enchantment removal, but still...

And I can't see it without thinking about the long forum story called "Pantheocide." Second one in a never-finished trilogy, and pretty impressive. It isn't even a word, but you know exactly what it means.

Cards are game pieces, and should be treated as such, easily replaceable.
Cards are not money, investments, or a retirement fund, and should never have been treated as such.
Wizards made a mistake caving to speculators once, and we still pay for that mistake 2 decades later.
"Entitled:" the entire ad hominem fallacy condensed into a single word. It doesn't strengthen your argument to attack motivations, it just makes you look like you don't understand the argument.
good flavor, pretty awful card though. I'll not be happy to open this. If only it said artifact or enchantment.
Tell me which artifacts are seeing play right now?
You shouldnt forget that the god weapons are artifact enchantments and many creatures are now enchantments too.
This card will see play 100%.

I feel like the first part of your post needs to be read in the voice of the moviefone guy. Hmm.. I'd watch that..
In most formats that matter to the secondary market, it's no more than Erase with cool flavour. Even in the 1 out of 100 cases that hits a God, big deal, that probably wasn't the only win condition in their deck. It's all flavour.
I hate this card from every angle. Flavorwise it seems totally contrived that Heliod and Elspeth would go after Xenagos. "Oh no there's a new god, better kill him!"
The effect on this card (along will all the other god-hate in this block) is basically Wizards saying "Hey look at all these cool god cards that you will never ever be able to play!"
I wonder if they've foreseen it when developing the card. If so, kudos for them

And the artwork is just awesome. Elspeth is bad ass.

This is not the reason why a Phenax deck isn't a real thing.
No, he's exiled. If he were dead he'd be in the graveyard.

I don't really follow the story, but what's with the significance of Erebos in the trailer? Did he play some part in Xenagos' downfall?
