I'm going to say it again: Master of the Feast's playability completely depends on the kinds of removal that are prevalent in standard and whether fast black-based aggro is viable. I mean, if their removal can't handle a beefy 5/5 flyer then what does it matter if it draws them cards? Still, circumstances have to allow this to happen.
Oh, let me add that if an Owling Mine type deck becomes viable, which is a lot to ask, this will be amazing.
You're kidding, right? http://www.mtgtop8.com/format?f=ST. It's all right there. Percentages. Real percentages. Mono-green aggro makes up ONE PERCENT of the meta. ONE PERCENT. Because that equals "making a splash." Once that number goes up to 5 percent or more, THEN I will consider it a relevant threat.
actually 2%, if you include both the aggro and devotion variants. Also... 30% of the meta is some variant of aggro (where demon would excel vs).
I'm still not sure of the point trying to be made...
That's where the website is wrong. It counts Jund Midrange as "Jund Aggro." It's GR monsters splashing black. Which is even worse for anyone playing the demon because Dreadbore and Abrupt Decay.
It counts Boros Burn as "Boros Aggro." Boros Burn doesn't care about demon. At all. It helps them.
It counts Naya Auras as "Naya Aggro" and that deck plays Ethereal Armor, Madcap Skills, Boros Charm, Selesnya Charm, Chained to the Rocks, and Ajani.
It counts Golgari Dredge as "BG Aggro." Every creature in that deck attacks over the demon or has the same P/T as it.
The rest of the "true" aggro decks (Mono-black, Orzhov, Mono-green) make up less than 10% of the meta. Good call.
A couple of things...
1) The new demon would still be good VS Jund Midrange.... for the same reason Desecration Demon is good VS Jund midrange. Just because they have more answers to it, doesn't make it terrible.
2) Demon could still be good vs Boros Burn... depending on the variant. Post nyx creature based boros decks will become more popular.
3) I excluded naya aggro from the percentage of decks the new demon would be good vs. Although the new demon would be good vs hexproof.
4) Golgari dredge would most likely PLAY the new demon... so not really a valid point.
Here is a list of decks that the new demon would excel against: Boros Aggro,Devotion to Blue, GRx Monsters, RDW, MBA, Devotion to Green, Rakdos Aggro, Mono Green Aggro, Weenie White.
That red guy is the best Ophidian they've ever printed, bar none. When does red ever get to draw 2 cards a turn off of a 3 drop? That's incredible. Good devotion count, too.
It's not all that good. I'd put him in the same category as Dimir Cutpurse. It gives you a similar level of card advantage with a similar number of hoops to jump through. He's too small for his "evasion" (trample) to matter in enough matchups. He holds a Jitte like a champ, but not as good as Markov Blademaster at the same casting cost. (Or True Name Nemesis, Phyrexian Crusader, or Mirrian Crusader at the same slot in different colors).
From an EDH perspective, I think quite a few people have identified how useful Master of Feasts is for Nekusar, but I am stoked for Twinflame in my Purphoros/Goblins deck. Imagine you have Krenko and Siege-Gang Commander commander (or similar cards out) out...GG all opponents!

A Prophetic Flamespeaker doesn't hold a Jitte as good as Markov Blademaster? You would rather put a +1/+1 counter on your creature than draw a card? That says all I need to know about your post, which has many other things wrong with it as well.
Demon is only bad because Black is now chock full of awesome 3 drops. The rest of them are card advantage (LBZ, Specter, and even Torment if he bestows a useless guy). Demon is card disadvantage, but if he's not dealt with...
Some decks don't deal with 5/5 Flyers. Red, GW, Mono Blue etc. All the decks that Desecration Demon is bad vs, the new Demon is great against.
5€ for Prophetic Flamespeaker, thanks to the StarCity dude who evaluated the card.
Yeah, I went ahead an jumped on those at $5 each for a playset, probably the only card I'll preorder unless something insane is spoiled to come. The rest I'll wait and see what my pre-release sealed pull is and go from there
You can withhold your land for the turn until you attack and play one that is flipped, and you have R left over to cast a shock or another 1-drop with (maybe with the second flipped card?). Seems good in Mono-Red Aggro.
Hey look, Mono black devotion got another tool it didn't need.
an unplayable demon that defeats the purpose of mono black resource strategy?
You are right that he defeats the purpose of MBD's strategy, but I don't think he is unplayable. He is some seriously undercosted (sorry for the pun here) fat, and is the same color as Thoughtseize, which can clear the way for him to come down. Pretty sure we will see him in some decks. Will he be an all star? No. Will he do some work? Yeah.
