With Garruk probably being a G/B planeswalker, I wonder if multicolored will be the "special mechanic" of M15. Then again we had Nicol Bolas a couple years ago, so who knows.
What's with all the hydra cards? This is starting to seem excessive.
they finally settled on hydra as green's iconic race for big, fatty rare and mythic creatures a couple years ago; and they have been trying to cement it over the past few sets. just like red has dragons, white has angels, and black has demons. green has lacked an iconic creature identity for most of magic's history up until recently. so get used to it. just like dragons, angels, and demons are ubiquitous; you'll probably be seeing them for the foreseeable future.
I'm trying not to nitpick, but the difference in space between the "d" and "y" in "Hydra" versus the "d" and "r" really catches my eye. Is this bad kerning or is it just me?
That is all kinds of lame. Why let a bunch of random game devs (some half-baked) make cards?
Because it's a fun idea and could lead to some interesting cards, geez have some imagination.

Quote from Wolfman about lack of Conspiracy spoilers-
"I'd say this about guarantees that it won't be up till this Friday, but considering the current track record, the ETA is now probably two weeks after the set has been out."

The preview card is a counterfeit! We are all doomed!
Game developers will help sell the core set, and it's a bit of fun. Besides, I'm sure they didn't just let them create just anything without some of their own input.
Is there any deck that would care about Cascading into permanent spells that cost 0 on turn 2? Until now, the cheapest Cascade spell has been (3), but this can get things that cost 0 for just GG (sure, the hydra dies, but you tutored up your specific card pretty early). Nothing that breaks that is coming to mind, but I'm pretty dumb over-all

you reveal/ look at 0 cards too....
I think the value will come if jund plays it for X=4(MC 4GG) and be able to reveal 4 cards and put lets say liliana or tarmo or coursel or Chandra or confidant , while having a 4/4 in play after that.
The reason for that is Nissa is in this set, and literally nobody cares about reprinting Liliana of the Dark Realms.
Remember that this is a different Garruk than we saw in Innistrad. Back then he was mad and killing things but only in the name of getting rid of the curse. Now, it seems that the curse completely got to him and he's gone out on a killing spree with a yet unknown motive.
As terrible an idea as that sounds, I actually can get behind the idea of a planeswalker completely color-shifting from the corruption of his mana and his mind. So. Would this new Garruk summon zombie animals (as we've seen before), or is he so far gone that he's just a senseless killing machine?

I fear I won't have much time to play Magic these days.
I get to watch worlds develop around me.
I get to watch great leaders, terrible oppressors, and trend setters rise and fall.
Limited, Standard, Modern, everything is a different playing field I feel I can observe, but will not actually touch.
I look forward to the stories I will hear.
And more so to the ones I will watch unfold first hand.
Isn't the unknown exciting?

Pretty sure they said the New Garruk is Hunting "Bigger Game" and that this means Planeswalkers.
Presumably therefore we will see a few Planeswalker deaths, and a higher-than-average Planeswalker saturation in Standard.
Also, loving that the Hydra looks like a whole bunch of Venus Fly-Traps
I don't care who the new black Planeswalker is as long as it has a better power set than Liliana of the Dark Realms. As for the Hydra, probably too slow for standard, but fun in other formats.
I like it, awesome for Animar.
So it triggers upon casting. What will happen if the Hydra gets countered? Will X become zero because the spell is no longer on the stack?

Nope, you still put the permanent, since this triggers when you cast it, and before the opponent can counter it anyway, so X is still X value. Have fun with animar
As soon as I saw the tagline for M15 was "Hunt Bigger Game" I (foolishly) hoped they were going to lay off the removal and speed and have another go at Battlecruiser Magic. I love games that last 10+ turns, and not because of excessive control, but because both sides are building their resources and preparing fatties. Don't expect to ever see it as a competitive strategy, but it's nice to dream.
Is blue's Sphinxes or do they still not have one?
Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.
