Holy cow that is some hardcore artwork. I want it.
Also pretty sick removal. Costly, but it nulls that bestow safety net.
edit: and I guess in other formats it kills things like Rancor too.

Started playing since Invasion, stopped at Scourge. Returned briefly during BoK's introduction of ninjas. Finally back into magic during Shadowmoor/Eventide.
Currently Running Bant Control and a homebrew Blightning Echoes for Type 2.
Lest you overlook it, this is instant speed removal. That's one of the most relevant aspects of this card, along with being a 2-for-1 if you have 7 mana handy.
A nice piece of EDH tech to deal with cheesy generals such as Zur and Bruna. Too bad they can't hit things like Thrun, Sigarda, and Uril, which is what this could would really be good for. It's still a flexible 2-for-1 with enough mana, and instant, so that makes it decently playable. It is a little overcosted, though.

Oloro wants. This could be good in standard as well (think Sever the Bloodline).

That's one of the best arts I've seen for removal. Putting this at instant speed and having it target without limitations, makes me think it will definitely be put in EDH and possibly make it in standard if auras ever become a thing.
Weird. Gild is recent and fairly similar to this new card. Same rarity, same color, same cmc, almost same effect. Huh.
Thought so at first too, but then realized this is instant speed. That's huge.
Yes, it's expensive, but this is a great way to get around a lot of troublesome creatures and can hit multiple targets late game. One or two in MBD sideboards might work out, especially if Auras/Heroic really take off.

I wasn't clear before, but I wasn't focusing on the playability of both cards, rather with their mechanical similarities. Black gets creature exile cards sparingly, so to see two such cards at the same cmc and rarity in the same block just seems odd to me.

It costs a little bit too much, but I'm a little more excited for this than Gild (mainly because I never saw T4 Gild -> T5 ramp into Elspeth).
Also more decent black removal. Man, Theros has spoiled us with black removal...
