Wouldn't hit tendrils or empty the warrens as the copies are 4cc as well, BUT would stop grapeshot in it's tracks. 2 for 1 on each copy? Please and Thank you!
Possible for midrange decks vs weenie hoards, RWU control would like against burn. I could see many uses for this.
The copies aren't cast, so it doesn't hit them. It does, however, hit every ritual, ascension, and cantrip they cast on the way to a lethal Grapeshot.

It is more about all the spells leading up to it than the storm card itself. Can't hit a storm count of 10 if you would take 20.
You played JESUS?!?! I heard none of his guys stay in the graveyard, and once you think you have him beat he ALWAYS comes back to win within three turns. I like...WORSHIP him.
That is some really pretty art. Prettiest art for JOU yet.

“A man's at odds to know his mind cause his mind is aught he has to know it with. He can know his heart, but he dont want to. Rightly so. Best not to look in there. It aint the heart of a creature that is bound in the way that God has set for it. You can find meanness in the least of creatures, but when God made man the devil was at his elbow. A creature that can do anything. Make a machine. And a machine to make the machine. And evil that can run itself a thousand years, no need to tend it.”
― Cormac McCarthy, Blood Meridian, or the Evening Redness in the West
Red standard decks just got faster. This reminds me of old school Magic. The self burn won't be an issue at all and can't wait to run a deck with them.

Nick: I lay a swamp, tap, dark ritual...
Me: If you cast a hypnotic specter I'll punch you in the face
Nick:...ahh I take 3 points of mana burn
The reason I play black according to CrovaxtheCursed:
More often than not, affinity will have everything spilled out by t2 (if it goes first). This design wasn't meant to disrupt/handicap affinity. Most of us know it's meant for storm. It's just pure bonus I guess if you got lucky and they don't
I've been playing R/G Monsters with Devotion.
Sounds interesting to try this as a Turn 3 play.
T2 Caryatid
T3 BTE -> EGR
T4 Activate Shrine -> stormbreath
With all the large creatures, R/G Monsters is less likely for friendly fire. RG tends to drop mana dorks on empty board before this guy.
However, what happens if you cast a XG hydra where X = 3? Does it deal damage? The same question is if a sphinx revelation is cast.
No, that would mean the CMC when you cast the spell is 3G, which is 4. Same applies to Sphinx's Revelation.
I think that the creature bit is what makes him better. Admittedly, it has a body and can therefore die, but it having a body means it can apply pressure and deal damage to the opponent if he does not actually deal with it - and if he does, he will probably lose a chunk of life doing it. How is that not a good thing?
That's exactly what I was thinking. In legacy, you'd side pillar vs storm, where Eidolon would be better as it would do the effect but also provide a clock, and storm doesn't really play that much removal, if any.
This also got me thinking that when cabal therapy is called, people now have to think of whether you have pillar or eidolon sided in against them, which only helps.
Am I the only one thinking of Æther Vial? It is not only awesome in creature based decks. You could pressure all you want with a creature based RDW (Goblin Guide, Vexing Devil, Grim Lavamancer in cmc1) and avoid all (most) damage from the Eidolon... Any Thoughts?? Is it too slow?
In my testing its at worst a two mana shock. At best it warps the game for your opponent an can deal six or more damage even without swinging. Vial makes it mean as can be.
That being said im amazed this guy is still so cheap.

This guy IS ok. Not great, but serviceable. It's not gonna break the format. Has a prohibitive cost, and fundamentally a creature. I'll be unhappy if I opened him in Sealed/Draft.
This dude is highly draftable, whenever he stuck, he won the game for me in the last event I drafted in. It was sealed, and I drafted boros aggro. You'd be amazed how much damage this little dude could do.

Actually he's right. That could create major play with Boros Burn.
This is one of the first modern and legacy playable I've seen in spoilers.
There is many enchants that give life link, and there is an enchantment called lifelink cost 1

Isn't this better than Pyrostatic Pillar?
I think that the creature bit is what makes him better. Admittedly, it has a body and can therefore die, but it having a body means it can apply pressure and deal damage to the opponent if he does not actually deal with it - and if he does, he will probably lose a chunk of life doing it. How is that not a good thing?
For Pyrostatic Pillar is easier to play around. It doesn't attack.
I know burn strategies are not happy about generating board advantage, but I see this as more similar to Keldon Marauders than anything else.
Admittedly, the symmeticral burn makes it horrible against other aggro decks, but doesn't that simply compel you to side it out?
This losing to aggro isn't really an argument to me. For it applies pressure to so many other decks, especially in fast formats with fast draw.
Burn deals damage faster than Brainstorm. I think this may very well be very good.
Or it may crash and burn (heh burn).
This also got me thinking that when cabal therapy is called, people now have to think of whether you have pillar or eidolon sided in against them, which only helps.
