I remember hearing that the Theros god weapons were supposed to be equipment but they just couldn't fit "legendary enchantment artifact - equipment" in the type line, so that's probably why Godsend isn't an enchantment either.

Seems to me like Gideon needs to borrow that weapon for a little while, as it conveniently is able to banish any of the Eldrazi forever.
I don't know whether it's playable in a white aggro deck, but I think it might be. Ups the devotion count for Heliod or Ephara (should that be an option), makes even a 1/1 Brimaz token unbeatable in single combat, and gives reach that was previously that deck's greatest weakness.
Very strange flavor-wise that it's not an enchantment equipment.
I think that the issue was that Legendary Enchantment Artifact - Equipment wouldn't fit on the type line. It's the same reason the Theros Enchantment Artifacts weren't equipment.

There's also a lore reason; the tip of the spear is actually a sword that Purphoros made, but during a fight with Heliod it slipped out of his hands and fell from Nyx to Theros, losing its Nyxborn qualities. Elspeth found it and Heliod made it into a spear.
How does this work with blocked/blocking generals? If it works the way I think it does it's pretty good in EDH
If a commander would be put into a graveyard or exiled, it's controller may choose to put it into the command zone instead. this is a replacement effect, and I believe it replaces the exile ability of the sword. So the commander would be returned to the Command zone by the replacement effect, and therefore isn't technically exiled by Godsend, so it won't prevent them from replaying their commander.

beautifully designed card, I bet the foils are gonna be absolutly gorgeous.
powerful but certainly not broken. probably not as powerful as a protection-sword and much more restrictive with that mana cost. it takes a while before it to build pressure with that second ability, this thing can close out the late game for you but in an aggro build it might be too clunky. (?)
It was at that moment that I realized: I'm kinda just making these things up. We can just write the rules the way we want them to work. People will have fun, and people will get it.
Everyone mentioning it's not an enchantment: Dude, are we going have to do this whole type-line thing again? Didn't we already do this with the god weapons?
White already has three mythics in the block, to blue's and green's two. With 5 mythics going to the gods, and one of the slots wasted on chromanticore last set, we either lose mythics on blue and green, lose some of the dual color combinations (Which would NOT go over well for wizards, pretty sure they know that) or we get more than 10 mythics this set. In conclusion, I suspect there is no way they can divy mythics out now that will be nice to all colors, and that's always a depressing thought.

Seriously.
MaRo has made it pretty clear that
Legendary Artifact Enchantment - Equipment
Does NOT FIT on a card, so they will fudge the flavor to make the card exist.
