Now this is a card I can appreciate. I don't think it will see play, but it is awesome non the less. It certainly deserves the rare slot.
Edit. The more I think about it, the more I believe it has a slight shot at seeing play in some sort of blue devotion. Even having 4 islands out and a Nykthos is enough to wipe most of an opponents board. Once that happens, the fish move in for the kill. Kinda like a cyclonic rift variant on a stick.

I must confess... when I first saw the name of this card, before seeing the picture, the image that came to my mind was a plague of Fleetfeather Sandals.
I'm not a big fan when you compare that to Cyclonic Rift... I suppose it can be blinked, so there's always that.
This is absolutely no Cyclonic Rift. It's meant to be played in addition to, not in place of, an Overloaded Rift. That said, this might be the best replacement that we have once Cyclonic Rift rotates. Getting a 6/6 body that bounces opponents' creatures with toughness of 4-7 or less when it hits the board is definitely something to pay attention to -- especially if Journey provides us with some way to blink this big guy.
I like it. It's pretty costly, but it's well worth it if you can get it out there. Plus, it only bounces your opponents' creatures, so if you have enough stuff to hit with, this can end games easily.
So could there be a basic lands matter cycle? This and the Leech hint at it although it could be just coincide since they have different rarities.
Basic land TYPES matter cycle, you surely mean. The word "basic" appears nowhere on this card, so it can't be basic lands matter, but I understand what you're going for.
Moar sea creatures!! This will be pretty sweet in my Wrexial, the Risen Deep commander deck!
Actually, all the blue cards previewed so far would fit quite well (draw/mill merfolk, scrying starfish, etc.).
Looks like I'll be going blue for the prerelease.
5UU Return each creature opponents control to owners hand with toughness X or less where x is the number of islands you control 6/6
I'm guessing the oracle is doing the prerelease cards

Between this and Whelming Wave, a Simic bounce deck could be a thing. We'll see what other deep-sea goodies Journey has in store for us.
What I'm curious is does this have a place in block constructed though?
