As much as I love the art, the star color is weird on 3/5 gods-
Only Keranos and Iroas look like they have the right color stars.
The rest pulled a Phenax
That aside, the Kruphix artwork is way cool,
and Keranos is probably my favorite of the 15.
Both will look sweet on playmats with matching purple borders.
And Iroas is looking a little pudgy-
I think he's been stealing Athreos' meals at dinner

Looks like URG is my colors yet again... Why must Kruphix and Keranos be so awesome? (Note, I also love Xenagos, I'm using both the wallpapers of him.)
Heliod and lady - xlz3ht2cck_joupwg_cardart_doh: Deliverance of Heliod?
Ajani and Elspeth - xlz3ht2cck_joupwg_cardart_soh: *Something* of Heroes?
Kruphix towering over waterfall - xlz3ht2cck_joupwg_cardart_dok: *Something* of Kruphix?
Elspeth holding Godsend - xlz3ht2cck_joupwg_cardart_gs: Godsend
Nykthos - xlz3ht2cck_joupwg_nykthos: Nykthos (duh)
Athreos - xlz3ht2cck_joupwg_cardart_agop: Athreos, God of Passage
Keranos - xlz3ht2cck_joupwg_kgos: Keranos, God of Storms
Pharika - xlz3ht2cck_joupwg_cardart_pgos: Pharika, God of *something* (did this change at the last minute?)
Iroas - xlz3ht2cck_joupwg_cardart_igov: Iroas, God of Victory
Kruphix - xlz3ht2cck_joupwg_cardart_kgoh: Kruphix, God of Horizons
Any thoughts on what the first few cards could be named?
Im really impressed by that Ajani/Elspeth artwork.
I mean to be honest I never get a "feeling" from artwork. I just think its good or bad. But that one is different. It really transmits emotions to the viewer.
Of course the B/W god has the ugliest art of any god in the entire block.
What did you expect?
1) He is the psychopomp, modeled after Charon (a skeletal, hooded figure)
2) His known associates are skeletons (Sentry of the Underworld)
3) The Orzhov were the most opulent guild in Ravnica. This is a pretty good contrast, the other face of BW.

Very nice arts (excepting Terese Nielsen's, I'm not a fan of her style). Keranos and Iroas are EPIC. I like Athreos too, although I don't get why he looks so greenish (you would say it's BG rather than WB).
Like everybody is saying the Ajani/Elspeth totally looks like Heroe's Reunion and reminds me a bit of Congregation at Dawn too. Besides that, is this the first time we see Elspeth's hair? I didn't expect it to bee that long.
Hmmm considering I've only pulled two god cards out of a bunch of packs from the last two sets...I take it as a god sign that I will get the gods I need in journey into nyx. Oh yeah and artwork has been awesome this entire block, but you already know that
Let's see of WOTC can make the gods not casual jank rares this time around. Really hoping for Kruphix to be good.
Xenagos is a staple in Gruul Monsters. Mogis and Phenax see fringe play (Mogis in Rakdos aggro and Phenax is in just about every mill deck imaginable). Ephara is in a variety of decks, and is most often seen in a mono blue variant that splashes white for the God herself and Detention Sphere. The only casual jank God from Born is Karametra (because they made her trigger "cast a creature spell" instead of "creature enters the battlefield under your control"...if they did it the other way around, she would definitely see some play in Selesnya builds).
I'm very, very concerned that they're going to nerf Kruphix. He's just so dang powerful in the story (I read the entire part 1 of Godsend yesterday, which is impressive for the book since I don't like to read fiction) that I can't see how they could do him justice in card form without making him broken.
Then again, the Theros block seems to be where Wizards is finally giving GU some love, what with Prophet of Kruphix, Kiora, the Crashing Wave, Kiora's Follower. Maybe they'll decide to provide the final piece in the puzzle so that a competitive GU Standard deck is possible (which would be a first, I believe).
If history is any indicator, though, Pharika will likely be the strongest of the Journey Into Nyx Gods (Wizards just has this problem of always making BG cards more powerful than they were meant to be), followed by (or tied with) Iroas (for similar reasons). Athreos likely has some strong potential, too, since Wizards also has given WB a lot of love in the past.
I also want Keranos's card to be awesome just because he seems like such an interesting character, but, like GU, UR seems to be another color combination that Wizards has historically neglected to make competitive (at least at the same levels as RW, WB, or BG.
I will say one thing about these gods compared to the Born of the Gods ones: their art is better on the whole.
EDIT: Did anyone else notice how Ajani's color scheme includes a LOT more green than it has in the past? His garments, which have historically had more of a blue hue to them, now are noticeably green.
I won't get my hopes up too high, but I guess the set leads are different. Remember how the God of Deception was just a stupid, inefficient miller? There's not even a point in making him a creature because he will mill as few as 7 cards by the time you could have won the game 3x over.
Ah.... the nolstalgia returns. WotC has a quota of reprints to make, and someone from RnD always manages to sneak in a Heroes' Reunion. lol
Keranos' form was pretty much expected of a God of Storms. Ditto Pharika. Iroas looks bland and looking like he took post-binge selfie. Some may like Kruphix, but not for me. I thought he would have been done in Prophet of Kruphix's style.
Woohoo, I was right all along about Iroas being a bull, not a horse
Yeah. The book pointed out one fact I haven't realized - Mogis and Iroas, the Twins of War - One has a body of man and a head of a bull, the other has a body of a bull with the torso of a man.

phenax isnt as good in mill as one with think. if they build the deck around him, sure, but most mill decks run a bunch of mill spells, like traumuatize and mind grind, not creatures.
a I the only one still wondering what Xenagos did wrong? I mean, Heliod is being all selfish and narcissistic..if you think about it, what has he done? he partied a bit, then became a god and wanted to party some more.. he didnt hurt anyone, he didnt kill anyone... so why are they killing him? " OH NO, IF YOU WANT TO BE A GOD IL HAVE TO SEND ELSPETH AND HER FRIENDS TO KILL YOU!!" seems kind of aggresive and evil...

Yeah, after reading the book, you almost root for Xenagos to succeed so he can spit in Heliod's face. The God of the Sun is really behaving like vain, arrogant, prejudiced jerk. Just as some Greek gods were portrayed, so that's pretty fitting.
I wonder about the header pic.... it depicts Phenax, Erebos and Pharika, but I think that it is not an illustration from card.

I'm only halfway through the first novel, but so far, only Heliod and Kruphix seem to care about protecting the mortals from the creatures of Nyx. Heliod's biggest problem is that he painted a giant target on himself by trying to be the main god, and now, everyone who tries to take him down inadvertently messes with Nyx and threatens the mortals, just like how Porpheros accidentally sent Polukranos on Theros when fighting Heliod.
Xenagos has killed at least one man for *****s and giggles. He even sent shadowy satyrs to kill people around Akros.

Maybe he is some kind of returned too like Phenax, God of Deception and wears it because of that. Im mean he doesnt look healthy.

We all know they're going to be niche cards barely playable if at all.
They made Thassa playable by pushing the mana cost down and they don't seem willing to do that with any others.
