Old frame Goyf, brown Aether Vial and batter skull, old framed Zendikar fetches, etc.
I'd love it.
-OR- it's a movie about Jace who time travels back to the time when Phyrexian was taken over by Yawgmoth in order to defeat them now, and his tampering creates an alternate universe and Yawgmoth travels to modern days, and in the second movie Tamiyo travels in time to take Urza to fight Yawgmoth who's wielding all the 5 Mirran Swords and using an aether vial to spawn an army.
Yeah its almost certainly the movie. All card products must be TM'd " Magic the gathering". With only the word magic in the TM its a non card product.
Fox studios is in Sydney.
I think(will find out) who does the trademark work for Fox in Aus. Its probably this firm.

Planar Chaos was not a mistake neither was it random. You might want to look at it again.
[thread=239793][Game] Level Up - Creature[/thread]
My more reasonable hope is some kind of gold border set with lots of cards like the P9, bazaar, tabernacle, force, etc in it so that people who want to try legacy/vintage in their local playgroups can do that without having to either make illegal and often nasty proxies, or spending thousands of dollars between them.
This is something possible we can hope for.
If I were in charge this is how I would circumvent the reserve list. I'd print replica cards of early play-sets sold as a stand alone game (not officially compatible with MTG or legal in MTG tournaments, but with proper backs). Five or so years later, I would retroactively make them tournament legal. This would never technically be printing tournament legal reserved cards.

I'm betting it's the movie. Not the best title, but "Magic" is a bit generic and "Magic: the gathering" is the card game. "Magic Origins" sounds like it's going to be a bunch of character origin stories, which sounds exactly like the kind of movie idea that would come out of a card game.
A contractual agreement was made when Magic:The Gathering's rights were completely sold off by Garfield Games to establish and fundamentally withhold a reserve list on printed cards to ensure the collect-ability of the game would instill the continuation of Magic:The Gathering as a lifetime game.
A return to old cards and old mechanics? You all would think I was mad if you saw my hoardings of Helm of Chatzuk, but I will have the last laugh. All the way to the bank.

I thought the list was published only after the Chronicles incident.
I would be super upset if the movie follows only the neowalkers. I would rather have it follow either the Urza saga or the Weatherlite one. The characters of old had more flare and weren't all so predictable. Also if they ever have urza I hope he's played by Rutger Hauer, I still remember his character from Salem's Lot.
Then you are going to be very, very disappointed with the M:TG movie.
The movie will be about and star neowalkers. The reason for this is quite simple: People can't relate to near omniscient, near omnipotent entities, and that was what the oldwalkers where. This is also the primary motivation behind why the mending was enacted. Near omnipotent/omniscient entities severely limit what stories can be told.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).

So why did the list go through a bunch of iterations? Makes no sense.
So Wizards has apparently reserved a website for Magic Origins. I wonder if it is something Hearthstone-esque to compete. I wonder how it would work though...

I would love something like that so much you don't even know. Sadly, it seems extremely unlucky, even though I think it would be a good business descision.
Magic Origins is probably M16, as WotC seems the kind of people who would go insane that a product of theirs has the same name as the USA's preferred military rifle.

I think this scenario is likely. Magic Origins is the final Core Set, maybe a lot of reprints from Magic's past that we thought we wouldn't see again.
I've noticed Maro is avoiding saying "Magic 2016" and saying "the 2015 summer core set" instead on Blogatog. More evidence that it will be Magic Origins instead of M16.
blueblack-dimir said: Hi! I've seen a few people wondering about this online: Is the 2016 core set still going to be called Magic 2016? You never called it that in your article. Or is this a "no comment" kind of question?
That’s not a question to be answered today. We’ll get to it. : )

Granted, I hate the Reserve List as well as the next person here, and I'd be in the front row with open arms to welcome back our dualies.
However, even if the Reserve List WAS abolished, then some of the old time collectors would, of course, still be upset. (Who cares seriously?)

I don't think they'd take out a TM for the last core set. More than likely, it'll be the product that replaces core sets as the beginners' product.

Maybe its the new "core set" line , that will not enter Standard and is meant to new players...

So yeah, Magic Origins most like is the name of the last Core Set.
