is the pattern in that metal not indicative of Etherium?

I don't think it's Thalia. It looks like her hand is made of etherium, which leads me to think it's Ethersworn Canonist or, perhaps, but less likely, Master Transmuter.
NoahS has got it all figured out; It's a woman with a sword. Clearly then, it must be Stoneforge Mystic, since MTG doesn't have any other card withe women and swords on them. "Stoneforge Mystic" even screams 'swords!' Obviously she works at a forge and is standing on a stone, and being that she has eyes, she's a mystic.
Oh, wait. Maybe it's Coral-helm Commander. She does look commanding (because she has eyes,) and she could wear a coral helm.
I just don't know. But it's gotta be one of those two.

After a better look at the sword, it's definitely Thalia (or her twin sister.) You can see the hand holding the sword (wearing black gloves, like Thalia) and on the right side of the hilt, you can see Avacyn's collar.

100% agree with this. i immediately thought of thalia from the first glimpse. pointing out avacyn's collar is seals it.

If I had to associate it with one Magic character, it would be Thalia. It is odd to see such a close-up art, even Jor Kadeen was more zoomed out.
The second one is very reminiscent of Lurking Predators.
