It occurs to me that this, sadly, is about as close as we'll ever get to an official "cube" release. Because, why release an actual cube that people only need to buy once and can draft forever, when they can release a "special draft set" that you have to buy packs for individual, and have to re-buy everytime you want to draft?
Hopefully the set is good enough to be a "cube" in and of itself, and I can buy a factory set, and have that be a starter cube. I'm sure that won't work for some reason, but we'll see.

you probably can, but be aware, most cubes are designed to support 8 players (a full draft) and are singleton. Meaning most small cubes are 360 different cards (15 cards, 3 packs, 8 people) which is far more than this set.
That said, as an owner of 2 cubes I am ecstatic about this set. Even if there are like 5 draft cards in the entire set it will be amazing. The librarian is going in both my pauper cube and my non-power cube. I've already printed and proxied it and can't wait to get my foil.
I think this is going to be the best casual set since unhinged and I cannot express in words my excitement. Multiplayer, limited, and cube impact in the same set that is playable on its own is awesome.
My only hope for this set is that the reprints aren't money cards and that the new cards that are playable in constructed competetive formats aren't broken. I don't want to see scavenging ooze/True-name cards in this set for the simple fact it needs to remain msrp to be playable.
Though to be honest, even if it did have broken cards and shot way over msrp it wouldnt be too bad for me since I could probably still get the draft cards really cheap and add them to my cube.

I will probably do what I did with MMA last year, which is scoop up 4 of each common, 2 of each uncommon and 1 of each rare/mythic to create a Cube. For MMA, this left me with a Cube just shy of 600 cards. For Conspiracy I crunched some numbers and it looked like the Cube would end up being just north of 500 cards. My playgroup has had a very postivie experience running the MMA Cube and I suspect this time around resources will be pooled for a Conspiracy Cube. The one real downside versus a regular Cube is that it takes a lot more time to create booster packs when you have to count out 24 piles of 10 commons, 24 piles of 3 uncommons and 24 rares/mythics to create the packs.

How much did that end up running you? I'm sure it would be less this time around (since no goyf/bob), but thta seems like an interesting idea. 4X common, 2X uncommon, 1X rare would be an intersting way to do it. Depending on how they "balance" the packs for this I could see doing a 2X everything cube. I only every play with a group of 4-5 players, so that would be sufficient cards for all the players I think.
Edit: Despite rereading this thread a TON I just now realized that I said 45 players originally, not 4 - 5 players. Doh!

I managed to trade some old comic books for a box of MM and started with that. The rest I acquired through trades so I am not sure how much it really cost me. Took about a month of solid trading online to get it done, it was a fun project. I chose the quantities based on distribution of the cards involved and it ends up being a fair balance, as you do not draft every single card from any rarity so there is variety with each draft.
Judging from the designs, I would say conspiracy takes place on a Middle Eastern-themed plane.
Pope Napoleon on the far right, ghost Neptune, an assassin, a pirate, and old man make me think 1700's pre-French Revolution/Dan Brown novel. BWTFDIK. Maybe this set will be in "the cube" plane.

This is an awesome idea. I don't know why I didn't think about this myself, but you could do this for every set as it comes out. I have a Commander Cube myself, started with 1 of each card in all ten Commander precon decks (removing duplicates of course), end added cards until I ended up with 800 cards. We draft six 15-card packs per player and build 60 card Commander decks. It's been a lot of fun so far! The opportunity to draft more and more using cubes is awesome, and building cubes out of each set seems like it would be a lot of fun, though sleeves for all those cards cost a fortune!
I've got a curious theory on this set: what if this IS modern masters 2? I mean MM was meant for drafting. and this set clearly is and as far as I can tell, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it was never official that modern masters 2 would be that set name. A vague comment when someone asked about MM2 during the PT a few weeks ago leads me to believe that this set may in fact actually be modern masters 2. with these reprint sets specifically designed for drafting and new cards designed clearly for drafting and commander. seems like every format is covered in this set. what are people's thoughts on this possibly being "modern masters 2"??
Edit: also the release date is too perfect since they moved the Modern season to this frame to co exist with the spring\summer release.
Because having a "Modern Masters" set that contains cards that are not Modern legal is a nonbo.
I think there's going to be a yearly reprint set mixed with new cards designed for draft and commander purposes and yet give a way for wizards to be able to reprint cards for modern and even non reserve list cards as well. Also keep in mind wizards does need a way to reprint cards that just can't go back into standard again like Snapcaster. Keep in mind I'm just theorizing here. the fact that someone tweeted a wizards employee about modern masters 2 and his response was "I cannot talk about modern masters 2. that would be a conspiracy." Again its just a theory. also why its not called modern masters and I think not being exclusive to modern allows for some mixing of the cards where Modern basically we already know what needs to be reprinted and honestly its only about 10-20 cards in modern that really could use a big reprint and that's about it imo.
Sorry if this a known info, but did someone notice that if you hover a Remand in this article on the mothership, it comes up with a Conspiracy symbol and a new art?

That is the Jace vs. Vraska duel deck symbol and new art for Remand from that Duel Deck.

Fetch lands in conspiracy. Think about it. It's a set designed to be drafted. Almost cube-like. Fetches are a natural inclusion. This could be a great way to reprint a lot of the modern lands that are starting to spike really hard.
If already mentioned as a possibility I agree with whoever posted it
