To better explain it, it's a Nyxborn creature. That is to say, the creature came from the dreams of mortals. Like all the enchantment creatures we have so far.
I think the Firedancer might be better than Young Pyromancer in the R/W burn deck. Pyromancer is there to give the deck some kind of defence against creature decks, since the deck really doesn't want to use it's burn on creatures. This does the same thing, but perhaps more efficiently at the same cast and almost the same body.
As someone who actually likes seeing reprints, I'm a little saddened we're only going back so far as Scars. I'm a real subscriber to, "I just played with this. Reprint something from further back, please!" Ah well. Hope there's more reprints to come, and some of them are even worthwhile. I doubt they'll try and top thoughtseize in this set though. Le sigh.
If Firedancer was a 2/1 he'd absolutely be completing the cycle. As it is, I'm cagey as a Red mage about spending my turn-two drop on a non-hasty 1/1. Loss of tempo, to be sure. Given that he turns all your burn into two-for-ones, though, he's worth looking at to be sure-- Red doesn't want to slow down the game by redirecting burn spells that should be hitting your opponent's face into their creatures, and now you don't have to. Chandra's Outrage is a bit too slow but can you imagine 3 for 1ing someone off of it? Delicious.
He doesn't belong in a RDW deck, he belongs more in a R or R/W burn deck. YOu do know a R/W burn deck made T8 at a Grand Prix about a month ago using Young Pyromancer and Chandra's Phoenix.
It could be a very interesting deck. You also have to realize this isn't a 2 drop, it's a 3 or drop depending on what burn you have in your hand as it's a creature that needs to be removed immediately and vs. Mono B, RDW or R/G Monsters it's going to be.
Is anyone else bummed out about Revoke existence? I mean this card hoses all the gods and enchantment based decks for a whopping two mana at common. I feel like this is OP.
Yeah it seems a bit ridiculous. It's hard enough to get the devotion to get them online but now this? Revoke Existence might single-handedly keep all the gods out of competitive decks.

I definitely understand this, but some people weren't around for the Scars block so to them this is a new card.
Also, god removal makes sense because creatures can't kill them, but we as planeswalkers can. Also, I'm quite sure JIN will be about usurping the gods/killing them anyway as one of the articles points to them being not as powerful as believed. I think they're more vulnerable in Nyx than on Theros.
I think young pyromancer is a good comparison in terms of how bad it makes the satyr look. For starters, having 2/1 vs 1/1 on a 2 drop is very relevant for decks that want to push through burn damage and race an opponent before they can stabilize. But the satyr does not advance the goal of burn to chip away at a life total at all, instead is just a roundabout form of removal- the pyromancer, besides going nutty with storm, is putting extra potential damage on all your burn spells, as a shrine of burning rage would do- but far more damage on an empty board at less cost. The satyr not only has half the turning sideways threat damage to the dome on that empty board, but no such damage amp, just removal.
So as a removal piece, this satyr is pointless if he's only going to kill one creature in a game- why not just run a removal spell in his place and not have to jump through hoops? So that means this satyr has to be viewed in a sweeper role. And ironically, it plays terrible with its colors own double edged sweepers, being a 1/1 that has no chance to survive any symmetric effect, effects which in the case of standard relevantsweepers, won't even deal player damage to push onto creatures anyway
So can this satyr find a home as a removal piece in a burn heavy, sweeper lite aggro deck that needs to make a path for its own beaters but can afford to run a 1/1 2-drop? I sincerely doubt it, but at least its possible
Satyr will be a staple. Control and midrange decks want a cheap fattie to block aggro and give them time to stabilize. Forcing the opponent to waste a burn spell to clear the way is an acceptable tradeoff of defense vs getting burned to the head late game. Now, the burn spell still hits you in the head AND your blocker is swept away. Early game, this is a huge gain for the aggro deck. Having him be bigger than a 1/1 would have been broken.
Everyone knows that good luck and good game are such insincere terms that any man who does not connect his right hook with the offender's jaw on the very utterance of such a phrase is no man I would consider as such.
He'd be pretty nuts along with Pyroclasm effects against token/weenie strategies.
You might be misreading it- it only works when your instant/sorcery deals damage to a player, and then deals that much to a creature. So the only thing this does with a pyroclasm is die.
Suddenly flames of the firebrand became a really nasty card... how many cards are like that in standard atm? Stuff that lets you ping a player or critter multiple times in 1 shot? I know there's been burn like that in the past just idk if there's any in standard or just modern/EDH atm.

Would Dark Confidant still be good if he punched you in the face for 5 damage a turn?

Yea its kinda funny that they made the gods "indestructible" just to print a billion removal for them that just ignores indestructible anyway.
Brilliant idea WotC, this is just silly ...
*Its like a set where every creature has flying, whats the point ?

I'll admit I hadn't even thought of that.
