Thinking about it, the Satyr actually is fairly applicable in many MUs and can gain some serious pressure by itself while acting as removal. In the Mono-Black MU, this allows you to have some serious play against them that wrecks their early game build up. If they tap out to put Specter into play as a blocker (Somthing mono-red has some problems getting around before due to only having Lightning Strike as an option), it allows you to ditch your sideboarded in Skullcracks for major advantage. Searing Blood just does terrible things to Mutavault blocks in this situation. I'm fairly certain Pack Rat gets sided out, but it lets you put pressure on them while removing a blocker. Certainly paints a target on it's head with Cure, but if you play it right you can probably get value out of it before that happens.
In the Mono-Green match up, you have Mystics and Burning Trees to consider. Killing their devotion on turn 3-4 is the best way to take them down, and once again it's just straight value here. Clear out their Devotion while dealing damage to their head.
In the Mono-Blue MU, it actually gives you some lee-way for dealing with pesky 2/3 Cloudfins, and a nasty trick for Frostburn chumps, and magma jetting your opponent allows you to get rid of Tidebinder. Once again, helps you race a bit and get value out of instants and sorceries.
It just scoffs at the White Weenie MU, which uses loads of X/1s. It actually functions as a decent blocker here.
And of course the red match-up. Post sideboard, with added Searing Bloods, and considering you go the more controlly route, I can see it just wrecking them and hard. You may be going for the long game for an aggro deck, but the added value from your spells means that you are removing their ability to top deck to victory by shortening the game.
Now, will it see play? In the sideboard, perhaps. Even though there are solid targets in many lists, I think it's hampered by being a 1/1 for 1, meaning that those games where your burn isn't enough to kill when copied over it's going to be useless. Also pretty bad against control. It also gets a bit better the more instants/sorceries you run, and considering most RDW decks only run 8-12, I'm not sure it's quite enough. In burn centered strategies, I can see it immediately taking hold. I think straight RDW will need some tweaking, however, to find space for it.
This guy being a 1/1 almost seems irrelevant. Getting even a single use out of his ability raises his 'effective power' on that turn, especially when you burn through a blocker. One of the biggest reasons to play the card is because of how strong it is with Chandra's Phoenix, as well. Being able to continue applying pressure to your opponent's dome, with the added bonus of recurring a flyer and/or pinging off troublesome creatures? Sounds pretty legit.
Being able to turn Boros Charm into a Mizzium Mortars also feels grand. And the havoc this could wreak with Warleader's Helix (or Lightning Helix in Modern, though I suppose that's unlikely in the extreme) makes me giddy. It's probably for the best its on a weak body, because if this was adequate on its own terms it would be a high powered card.
Damn misreading cards. I thought it said player or creature and I freaked a bit and was blown away that it wasn't talked about more. Still a good ability that you don't have to waste your burn on their creature's now. Wouldn't searing blaze deal 3 to 2 critters or 6 to one though? I think it still has potential to be bonkers as it makes all of your burn more versatile.
Searing Blaze will do 3 damage to the face and to a creature.
then another 3 damage to a creature, and it is okay if it target the same creature you target the initial 3 damage, resulting 6 damage to said creature.
edit: so in short, you can deal 3 damage each to 2 creatures.
or you also can deal 6 damage to 1 creature.
Great, eh.
Wizards print good rares, players complain about cash grab. They print underwhelming rares, players complain that the cards suck. They spoil the best cards first, players complain about the insane prices of preorders. They spoil the meh cards first, players complain that this is the worst set ever.
So. I think I understand now.
As far as these forums are concerned, WotC can never do anything good because:
Card that is new and probably good = "pushed"
Card that is new and probably bad = "EDH/casual fodder"
Card that is a reprint = "lazy"
Card that is a better version of an older card = "power creep"
Card that is a weaker version of an older card = "worthless"
Now, you have to choose one:
Run 12++ gods and other enchantment creatures to avoid getting 1 for 1-ed cheaply til the cows come home for tempo disadvantage, or run 0 gods and enchantment creatures to gain card advantage by invalidating their enchantment destruction.
I hate stuff like this.
And exiling is so harsh..!
I mean: A white spell that simply erases the existence of a GOD for 1W for all future?
How would that look in one of the books?
Chapter 2:
"The planeswalker snapped his fingers effortlessly, and to the horror of the thousands of Heliod worshippers, their great god vanished in a blink to never be seen again."
Dafuq Wizards, Rovoke Existance in this block. Really?
I'm surprised the revoke effect isn't attached to some 2 mana 3/1 creature. Because you know, only white can get good creatures right? Jesus, look at Archetype of Courage.
I bet that if the Satyr was white he would have been a 2/2
That satyr is very good for burn decks (not sure about RDW), it should see some play. I think Young Pyromancer is better against control while Satyr Firedancer is better against aggro, so you could straight replace them depending on the matchup.
I'm glad they reprinted Revoke Existence. I play BW Midrange and I'm usually helpless against Erebos, Thassa and their weapons, but now I have a chance against them. Won't replace Glare of Heresy (which is still great against many things), but it's nice to have another choice. BNG is giving me so many tools, I think I'll have a hard time tweaking my sideboard.

Lol...this guy is too funny. Guessing this guy was raging when artifact destruction was printed in SOM block.
Seriously though, I am glad Revoke Existence was reprinted. A lot of decks had a very difficult time dealing with a God in play.

I like the card, really, but why did they need to print Fade Into Antiquity as a worse version of it if they knew this was coming?
Guess it's another few months of drafting White/Blue exclusively to avoid the weaknesses Wizards balances the other colors around.

Cards are game pieces, and should be treated as such, easily replaceable.
Cards are not money, investments, or a retirement fund, and should never have been treated as such.
Wizards made a mistake caving to speculators once, and we still pay for that mistake 2 decades later.
"Entitled:" the entire ad hominem fallacy condensed into a single word. It doesn't strengthen your argument to attack motivations, it just makes you look like you don't understand the argument.
Revoke Existence reprint is neat and the new art is quite pretty. But once again, White solves an issue with itsSuperLaserBeam sent out from the sky. I feel like playing Command and Conquer again.
It's actually the other way around. Revoke Existence is one of those cheap hoser cards that's going to make its way into every deck to kill your enemies Gods. It'll be a great card to piss a lot of people off during limited since this is removal for like half of the creatures that you'll be playing, and it's a common.
It REALLY helps burn against aggro...
I mean, REALLY.
basically, if you drop this guy against an aggro deck on turn 2 and then just proceed to burn to face, burn to face, burn to face as you should, he will warrant you win the race.
May be a narrow sideboard card for burn, but I like it... A LOT, really.
Not to mention that the odds of getting the devotion needed is pretty darn slim already versus white's uncounterable boardwipe.
How does black and red deal with gods without pulling in white, green or blue?
Black has Thoughseize and can turn active gods now into a pile of Gold with Gild.
Red is the only one who doesnt have an answer but whatever. It's not like most Red decks care about removing gods in the first place.
If Firedancer was a 2/1 he'd absolutely be completing the cycle. As it is, I'm cagey as a Red mage about spending my turn-two drop on a non-hasty 1/1. Loss of tempo, to be sure. Given that he turns all your burn into two-for-ones, though, he's worth looking at to be sure-- Red doesn't want to slow down the game by redirecting burn spells that should be hitting your opponent's face into their creatures, and now you don't have to. Chandra's Outrage is a bit too slow but can you imagine 3 for 1ing someone off of it? Delicious.
Wish that satyr was a 2/1 with pyromancer's swath stapled to it minus the discard part. BROKE!Thats what I started reading at glance 1 and got excited. That excitement fled quickly...not a bad card though.
I literally could not care less about revoke existence right now. Guess I should try some limited though sometime...whatever lol

The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can tough the poison of hatred without being harmed. Since beginning-less time, darkness thrives in the void but always yields to purifying light.
I invision a future where one is not mighty when he can silence a crowd with brutality,
but when he leaves them speechless with wisdom.
Is anyone else bummed out about Revoke existence? I mean this card hoses all the gods and enchantment based decks for a whopping two mana at common. I feel like this is OP.
i like satyr for a modern burn deck ... i see this guy ... t2 satyr, t3 lava spike + lighnith bolt = 6 + 6 = 12 damage in 1 turn
FAIL, only creature
Actually, I think that's fine. I run a modern burn deck and the biggest problem I run into most of the time is the need to kill creatures because I don't have the burn in hand to win and if I don't, I just die. Now I can still hit their face and take out those problematic creatures at the same time. For example, against jund, that dark confidant must die the turn it's played. Unless I'm going to kill them on my next turn, their life total doesn't matter, Bob's gotta go. With this guy out I can still hit them and get rid of Bob at the same time. And I can do it with lava spike.
Yea sure they might have the removal to get rid of the satyr, but when they don't the upside is pretty good.
The Satyr is cool but I feel he is a sideboard card. The true power comes from having 2 or more copies in play to get the multiple triggers for one spell. Fun effect.

It has to do with the fact that you called one of the greatest Magic Players in the world ignorant.

Hey, there are people saying this is the red 2-drop that completes the cycle, so it looks like clarification was in fact needed.
PD: I saw people saying the same about Ash Zealot a year ago.
So, W(/ (W/U) / (W/R))had problems dealing with gods since when, exactly?
