That's a chesty guy. I'd need to see what new auras we're getting before I "crown" him. Bestow just seems too overcosted, and the Ordeals get blown out by Hero's Downfall
Meh, I think the phoenix has some potential. I mean a 3/3 haste flyer that doesn't die for 2RR seems fine.
A 5/5 flyer for 2RR also seems pretty damn good. I realize the opponent has control over which mode it has so if they have a removal card they can pick the mode, but outside of black and white not many colors can easily remove this based on cards played in standard right now.
Now that is an attractive tribute guy. Even if they pay the tribute, it's still a 5/5 flyer for 4cmc. In RED. Totally playable.

I don't like the phoenix because there's no reason at all to not pay for the tribute on it. And then once it has it, it can easily be chump blocked, as it'll just be a 5/5 flier with nothing else at that point. Who would ever give it haste + the ability to come back??
The Phoenix - I'm not sure why this is Mythic. Neither option (5/5 flying for four or 3/3 haste, invincible for four) are particularly mythic although the haste one would be close. But your opponent gets to pick which you get? Janky card is janky and bad, and I say this as a hardcore Browbeat fanboy.
Hero of Iroas - This is an exciting rare! This set should be called "Born of the Bears" with all the rare bears with pure upside and build-around-me potential we're getting. Probably only good in casual or commander, but might stand a shot in standard. Lots of fun, at any rate.

That Phoenix is pretty underwhelming. It's a LOT worse than a 5/5 flyer for 2RR.
You're kidding yourself if you believe for a moment that a 5/5 flier for 2RR is in any way, shape, or form bad. And truth be told, it's not all that much worse. Unless your opponent has an instant-speed exile ability or the immediate ability to block it, the correct choice will always be to make it that massive flier.
Hero of Iroas is pretty sweet, and might be the card Heroic needed to make it in standard. Entirely dependent on how good that deck actually is, though.

While you are right about paying tribute, I wouldn't say that a flying creature is easily chump-blocked.

Nobody who wanted to be rid of the thing. Still, a 4 mana flying 5/5 is no small game. Eats anything in the air that isn't Desecration Demon. As it's been said, the lack of built in haste is a bummer, but balance is still a necessary thing. Oh well.

You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.

Feel free to bid on my cards here!
Moltres is trash.
The Pheonix is cool, but doesn't feel really mythic... It's still an interesting design.
It is. If only it was on a better card or on a card with a lower rarity.

Agreed, Theros didn't feel like an enchantment set. I guess I was wrong about it not being an enchantment-block though.

Then again, this is the standard where Polukranos, a normally unplayable card sees play.

OT: The Phoenix is pretty sweet, though I don't think it needed to be Mythic.
The Hero seems okay, and it makes Ordeals REALLY cool. G/W Auras?
