In the same way you can tell someone is from the XVIII century because he is arroused by ankles, you can tell someone is from USA because he feels nipples disturbing.
I'm confused, you guys whine when the mythics are good and site MaRo saying that mythics arent meant to be tournament staples (Geist of Saint Traft)
And here we are with a different mythic that you are whining isnt strong enough?
nail on the head. I dont have a problem with mythics, but I think they are a hard reception piece. Jank mythics are hated. Staple mythics are hated. Some find that middle ground.
The thing to rememver is that EVERY mythic has some audience that likes it, and likes it more because of that feeling of specialness behind mythic rares.

The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can tough the poison of hatred without being harmed. Since beginning-less time, darkness thrives in the void but always yields to purifying light.
I invision a future where one is not mighty when he can silence a crowd with brutality,
but when he leaves them speechless with wisdom.
Mythics are supposed to feel weird and unique. Like the skeleton.

I fear I won't have much time to play Magic these days.
I get to watch worlds develop around me.
I get to watch great leaders, terrible oppressors, and trend setters rise and fall.
Limited, Standard, Modern, everything is a different playing field I feel I can observe, but will not actually touch.
I look forward to the stories I will hear.
And more so to the ones I will watch unfold first hand.
Isn't the unknown exciting?
Phoenix - I feel this is both interesting and properly costed for what it does. Nice to see a red card that might be playable! It's approximately a 4/4 flier for 4. But I'm sad it had to be mythic in order for that to happen.
Hero - I've always enjoyed creatures that encourage auras, all the way back to Mirage block until today. There are dozens of notables in that category. And this one is another good one. Solid and playable, and rare is the right choice for rarity.
You're kidding yourself if you believe for a moment that a 5/5 flier for 2RR is in any way, shape, or form bad. And truth be told, it's not all that much worse. Unless your opponent has an instant-speed exile ability or the immediate ability to block it, the correct choice will always be to make it that massive flier.
Hero of Iroas is pretty sweet, and might be the card Heroic needed to make it in standard. Entirely dependent on how good that deck actually is, though.
Or... they were on the play and have an untapped Desocration Deamon. Yup.. you get your 5/5. attack? No.. my turn? Draw, doom blade
My biggest problem with the phoenix is that it won't always return. With past phoenixes, there has always been a way to get it back on the battlefield or into your hand from your graveyard. It's what phoenixes do. They come BACK! The fact that this one won't always get a chance to do that makes no sense.

"We wield the fires of rage. War is our blood and destruction our birthright." - Crimson creed
Remember when people said how awful Desecration Demon would be? They are the same ones complaining about Phoenix.
I cannot wait for it to see major tournament play, and then and only then for people to say they "said it was good when it was spoiled." Well I PERSONALLY will have the evidence to prove it.
I, GreenMunchkin, am currently guessing that Flame-Wreathed Phoenix will see heavy constructed play.
PS: Yes, Stormbreath is better. It also costs 5, so this fits in the curve quite nicely. I can imagine Mono-Red Control being a really good deck. T3 Reckoner, T4 Phoenix, T5 Stormbreath, (T6 Mortars?,) dat ain't Falco son, WHERE YOU AT!?
This guy is right, the phoenix will live!!!!!!!
All you stop complanting that a card that looks bad might actully beat you in standered.
Look at that definition..
I sure hope he doesn't travel up to 5-10 bucks, I can't help but to feel we'd have to see more good auras for that first
Who needs more Auras when Bogles is a thing?

In any other set he would be just a notch up, but helping Enchantments makes him an easy early pick. Look for him in EDH as well!
