The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can tough the poison of hatred without being harmed. Since beginning-less time, darkness thrives in the void but always yields to purifying light.
I invision a future where one is not mighty when he can silence a crowd with brutality,
but when he leaves them speechless with wisdom.
Hexproof is always a strong ability but at least in my local meta we see plenty of sweepers, probably moreso than targeted removal. Not sure how I feel about this card for EDH. It'll wreck things in limited though, thats for sure.
I hope the red Archetype does trample for the nice synergy with Xenagos, God of Revels. If it ends up being haste as expected, it'll just be Urabrask the Hidden.
Am I the only one glad I won't have to deal with a 6/5 hexproof that also gives every other creature on it's side hexproof? For how much people complain about uninteractive card I'm surprised to see people complain about an uninteractive card not being pushed. This is not a fun card to play against and I'm glad it wasn't pushed.
Its ok, horrible for constructed, really expensive for limited. It may find a home in EDH decks, we all know that Green EDH decks can get serious amounts of mana.

There's no reason to ever play this card in EDH. Asceticism, for one, would like a word.
8 CMC standard unplayables are only EDH fodder if they're taking up a rare slot, geez.
I guess if there's a ton of spot removal in this limited format (weird) this guy might be good, but I can't help thinking there are much better ways to top your curve.
Actually there is a reason, Tooth and Nail. Someone mentioned it earlier. Tooth and nail to get avacyn and this from your deck then put them on the board, oh look all my dudes are hexproof and indestructible. Merciless Eviction or Hallowed Burial? No? Good. You can't tutor and play Asceticism like that. Don't get me wrong, yea I'd prefer asceticism too, but this card has it's advanatages.
This card is pretty bad for standard, for 8 mana or super ramp there are better strategies to utilize. Limited... meh. I think people forget how often they actually get to 8 mana in limited, happens just about every round unless one side is playing a cheap really aggressive deck. Just the same, it takes more than 8 turns to get there usually making this a dead card in hand for quite a while if you draw it before then. If I already have 8 mana, I'd love to draw that, otherwise, pass.
I'm no expert on eternal formats, but I'd guess that even mentioning this card in eternal formats would make them die laughing?

No, you aren't the only one. If this cost 2 or 3 less to cast, it could see play alongside the new Xenagos, which would just get nasty. The only thing that could reliably stop it is Supreme Verdict, and that rotates out in eight months.
This is one of the best creatures ever printed for Mayael The Anima too.
The effect alone makes it very synergistic with any board you might have.
And when you have any other meaningful creature out, for example Seedborn Muse it will be straight up absurd.
And I'm not even touching things like Avacyn or other big things here.
Just flipping this off the top with your first Mayael activation will make you super content, especially if this is done in a response to a target spell.
Same. Mayael is my first-and-favorite EDH deck, and really, the self-protection hexproof ability would be enough to give it a look. However, in multiplayer, the second ability combined with the first means you are giving your and your opponents' removal more value while simultaneously removing your board as a target.

Mayael would like to have words with you. This is a valid target for her.
How many people play cards that do the same thing under a different name in EDH....oh, right. Almost everyone.
Also, it does soooo much more than just Asceticism; that it is sweet. Also, I regularly and easily hit 8+ mana in EDH, so this does not seem like a stretch to play. It fits in any green EDH deck, because they all ramp.
I hope the red Archetype does trample for the nice synergy with Xenagos, God of Revels. If it ends up being haste as expected, it'll just be Urabrask the Hidden.
Naaaah. Red archtype will be: all you creature attack each turn if able. All your oppoenent's creatures can't attack. Wizards likes to punish red in cycles. It's their shtick.
I don't know about this replacing asceticism in EDH. Some people want to protect their dorks sooner than they would normally be able to. That said, I will probably try this out alongside asceticism for some of the redundancy--just like the way I still play acidic ooze alongside my Primordial.
In addition, sweepers are still cards. Unless you get indestructible as well (with Avacyn, of course), then you're still going to lose dudes. Even if you get indestructible, All is Dust is still a card.

Not to mention filthy casuals like me don't feel like shelling out 8 dollars a card for 9 different green decks.

I fear I won't have much time to play Magic these days.
I get to watch worlds develop around me.
I get to watch great leaders, terrible oppressors, and trend setters rise and fall.
Limited, Standard, Modern, everything is a different playing field I feel I can observe, but will not actually touch.
I look forward to the stories I will hear.
And more so to the ones I will watch unfold first hand.
Isn't the unknown exciting?
This is such a hard card to judge for limited... I've had plenty of games go to 10+ mana (I play UG), but I don't think boards are exciting enough at that point to have hexproof make huge splashes.
Even in heavy green decks, how many Voyaging Satyrs do you have!? I'm sorry to see this card get the poo poo even for limited, but I doubt this guy will ever make a higher pick than 7 if there is even another green card in the pack.
I wish he cost 2 less; at 6 mana he'd be on par with Vulpine Goliath for stats.
The times when Hexproof with make your game, you likely won't have 8 mana. His window of "doing real work" is very tiny.
Well, it's better than Plated Seastrider, but that's not saying much. One of the crap rares that isn't really playable. 6/5 without evasion (trample at the very least) don't do much unless they are really cheap, but considering this costs 8..
It's certainly too expensive to see play in Standard, but I don't think it's all that bad. It's cool in Commander, especially in robbing everyone else of hexproof! I'll be able to find it a home.
I enjoy that it is Hexproof over trample. I do see it as more of an EDH card than anything, but it gave me a couple deck ideas for casual to play with.

When i saw this card, my first opinion was, "Damn, awesome effect, s*** 8 mana????"
However, that 8 mana will still be a near must-have in most green EDH decks. You might be able to get hexproof cheaper, but you can't DENY your opponents hexproof with that.
As for the people who are saying this will not see limited play, I think you'll be surprised.
First, in limited, green hasn't had anything worth ramping into that was more than 6 mana. Green already had the ramp, now it has the ramp AND something to play. Not to mention the new ramp we're getting with BNG... kiora's follower+ karametra's acolyle= 8 mana turn 4. With only 2 uncommons. Just think about dealing with a 6/5 hexproof turn 4. That is why it costs 8.

I figured it would be far too strong
I guess at 8 CC it's fair

Pretty much a miss in my opinion.

Sounds about right. Har har.
Endurance is way too costly. Do you think this is their idea of EDH support? I suppose, but there's so much better to go in its place.
Very underwhelming.
