The blue fated is awesome, triggers heroic as well as giving you a token which is just love for me. I love the cat legend Brimaz, but I'm sad he's not green/white. I might be buying more of BNG because of some of these awesome cards than I did of theros. the minotaur idk I feel like it could've been more pushed for tribal.
I'm calling it right now- worst rare in the set. Even good limited players will find better bombs at common and uncommon no sweat. Worst. Episode. Ever.
I really do predict this to be our worst rare in set award winner. I'd be happier opening a jar of eyeballs, so I think anything worse is highly unlikely. This card wont just have zero constructed potential, but not be significantly better than a mass of ghouls in a draft.
The instant blue is very interesting. The triple blue is rather limiting in what decks it can be played in, and it is true that Mono U is the biggest hitter in standard right now, but I just don't see what benefit Mono U has of playing this, considering the tokens have a converted mana cost of 0, right? So no aid to devotion? Regardless, I'm sure it has much farther reaching implications than standard. Definitely a fun card overall.
Nope. Token copies have everything printed on the card they are copying + any copy effects on the card they are copying. That means they have mana costs as well.
minotaur is crap unless some support comes its way
really like the blue spell. it might have some potential
brimaz is....
The cat's meow. Yeah, yeah. We're all thinking it. Many will say it. But damn if it isn't a solid, standard worthy card. I look forward to trying a couple in my WW pile. Should be fun.

Knowing their absolute disdain for making U/B a deep color combination, however, it will mill. Everything in that color combination mills. It's all they seem to be able to figure out that those two color do together. I like mill as much as the next person (Maybe a bit more actually), but I really am getting tired of seeing pretty much every UB card being a mill card. The color combination needs a bit of diversity.
Don't count on it. When it comes to color pairs, was the original. There are still people in R&D who remember that and believe ":symub: had its day."
You'll basically have to wait until the Old Fogeys in R&D get old and retire before anybody even thinks to take a fresh look at as a competitive force.

Yeah, was kinda hoping he'd be GW as well. If I ever got around to building another EDH deck that would be the color combo I played since it's the only colors I've not used in EDH (UB being my primary, and I ran monored chaos for a time), he'd have been fantastic at the helm.

I was figuring he'd be GW because we've been getting a number of two-colored legends like the Triad of Fates and Tymaret that led me to believe we'd be getting a cycle over the course of the block. Of course, we also have plenty of monocolored legends in Theros, so more of those are no surprise either...
Is anyone else refreshing the main rumor page, hoping we'll see Phenax? Sygg is my favorite EDH general, and I would really love a 3rd god for the mix.

I fear I won't have much time to play Magic these days.
I get to watch worlds develop around me.
I get to watch great leaders, terrible oppressors, and trend setters rise and fall.
Limited, Standard, Modern, everything is a different playing field I feel I can observe, but will not actually touch.
I look forward to the stories I will hear.
And more so to the ones I will watch unfold first hand.
Isn't the unknown exciting?
I'm hoping that it means that they want to hold off on spoiling the best parts for last. Have something to make people go "Wow. Wowie. Wowie wow." Knowing their absolute disdain for making U/B a deep color combination, however, it will mill. Everything in that color combination mills. It's all they seem to be able to figure out that those two color do together. To be fair, way back when (like, original Ravnica), Dimir was only somewhat about the mill. Mill was just a form of its main purpose, deck manipulation (your in the form of deck search and such, opponent's in terms of mill). I guess that Wizard's didn't like the first part of that or something, so they kind of cut it out The other thing that Blue/Black is built around is rogue effects and being unblockable, but both Thassa and her Bident already have that stuff covered... So... yeah, guess it's mill for us :\
Though it would be really cool if he had something along the lines of "If one or more creatures you control dealt combat damage to an opponent during your combat phase, you may reveal a card in your hand. If you do, you may discard that card/put that card on the bottom of your deck and search for a card with an equal converted mana cost. Reveal that card and put it into your hand, then shuffle your library."
Unlikely, though, since Wizard's seems to really want to push mill
Uh, Spiritbinder is SO not meant for aggro decks but for combo. And since when did Polukranos stopped existing, anyway?
I'm sorry, I have a hard time adjusting to this new world where "ramp-dependent midrange" and "aggro" mean the same thing.
I mean, I get it... but I'm talking about "fast aggro," or "tempo," or "beats," or, in my parlance... just aggro. Which is really only existing in some combination of :symw:/:symb:/:symr: in this metagame.
Nope. Token copies have everything printed on the card they are copying + any copy effects on the card they are copying. That means they have mana costs as well.
Thank you for clearing that up. That just makes the card a whole lot better in my eyes. I could easily see this find its way into the sideboard, or maybe even mainboard of MonoU. Play it in response to removal, or at the end of your opponent's turn, and with one Tidebender or Specter in play, and doubling it, it turns Thassa on. Also use it on your Master of Waves as they remove one currently in play.
I look forward to seeing how people will find a way to abuse it. Or probably not, because I'll be on the opposing end of it.

Check out some Magic Gameplay and Commentary videos here, including Modern Grixis, Jeskai, and Esper videos as well as some Standard and Drafts too: My YouTube Channel!
SO! Constructed RW Cats deck with Brimaz leading the charge. Gonna call it Thundercats, Hoooo! I am disappointed nobody has already put up deck ideas with that name attached. It's a shame one of those white mana symbols isn't red, that would be a cool EDH deck too. Oh well...
Nope. Token copies have everything printed on the card they are copying + any copy effects on the card they are copying. That means they have mana costs as well.
Not only that, if you copy a Master of Waves at instant if your opponent tries to remove it (say with a hero's downfall), you just get a new copy AND more tokens in response :P. Or you can avoid a thassa DSphere if she's a creature by copying her and then sacrificing the copy that's targeted by dsphere, making it an invalid target.

You bet I am.
But just as I continue to anticipate the mail every day, waiting for a game I imported on the 23rd last month, knowing I am only going to feel disappointment when inevitably it doesn't show up, so too do I know it is a futile effort and I just need to wait until next week. Hopefully.
