As cool as inspired looks, I'm getting burnt out on just seeing creats with Inspired. Like, yeah, we haven't seen the whole set yet, but can we at least see some inspired enablers (other than Springleaf Drum)? Not very many tappers in THS, and even though we have cards like Triton Tactics and Kiora's Follower, they don't help tap inspiring peeps. In regards to the minotaur, it find it to be weird. It'll probably be ok in minotaur builds, since copying Rageblood Shaman and Kragma Warcaller seem like pretty good deals, and it'll survive at least one combat being a 3/4
Brimaz is sweet, it is literally an upgraded Hero of Bladehold like in the article, and feels very nice at mythic. WW will love it
Narcissus's card is funny too. Your order of Stormbreath Dragon is ready, just drive up to the next window.
Hey look, a card with a million lines of upside text and a higher P/T than its mana cost.
Let's make it mythic to sell packs.
Hey look, a very constructive post that is totally not sarcastic or whining.
/sarcasm
Brimaz is downright awesome. The art, the flavor, the card itself. Everything that Kemba and Raksha would like to be. Too bad that he will be [...]ing expensive to get in foil.
Great Narcissus reference in the Infatuation, and a nice cost as well.
Spiritbinder is good, but not overpowered. The numbers ensure that he can quite well attack to activate himself, the mana clause is there for preventing him from being broken.

See its not simple power shrivel, its just a totally ludicrous divide in playability between pushed cards and unpushed cards. You can have a token farting 3/4 vigilance for 3 with its entire text box in upsides, while other colors can't even get a juzam with a downside
it's the opposite for me. it always feels like i was just playing Ghazi Glare and Hand In Hand a few years ago. i guess because that's the last time i played Standard...and i haven't really done anything with my life since then. /sigh
Cackling Counterpart didn't have a tailor-made tier 1 deck ready and waiting for it.
i don't get why people make absurd comparisons like this that blindly ignore context. yes, they have similar effects. but the environment in which they appear is quite different.
i'm not saying this will undoubtedly be a 4-of in Blue Devotion; but an instant speed way to get a cheaper Master of Waves with flash, possibly in response to a removal spell which would cripple your board presence, or a way to save Thassa from removal, or a way to help turn her back on after a board wipe is definitely going to be a consideration, at least, and deserves a better discussion than "well this one spell like it in a totally different environment saw zero play."
MaRo's article is on Mondays, not Thursdays. So you won't have to wait that long (if he is indeed spoiling it).
sure, Phantasmal Image and Phyrexian Metamorph have never seen tons of play in multiple formats or anything. they especially didn't change the Legendary rule specifically because of the way Clones interacted in a specific format.
I agree with you on cackling counterpart. Completely different standards so it's not comparable. Plus this is like a bunch of hours later so irrelevant but Maro said that he had picked a card to share over social media and it would go out over tumblr, twitter, google+, etc on Thursday the 23rd.
I had to read Brimaz a few times just to be sure I wasn't missing a drawback. He's insane. Everything's probably already been said about him, but I had to chime in with a "wow."
Good catch on those 2 cards which I had forgotten. Both were limited stars only and had 0 impact on standard. So, I guess there is some precedent for this PT, although this guy has 2 abilities and his CC is not WWW. The interesting thing is that all 3 have vigilence, so I guess 3/4 vigilence for 3 is a template for a white creature going forward.
"Whats that? You want to kill me master of waves? Well how about I flash one out in response!"
The Cat is great, can't wait to see a blue white tempo with him, the god of the polis, hero of Ikroas, the God's enlightenment, champion of the pantheon and some other goodies.
The minotaur is so so, fun for casual or commander at least.

Brimaz will certainly see play, but the 3 drop slot is getting sort of crowded in white weenie decks. Brimaz, Frontline Medic, Banisher Priest, Ajani, Spear of Heliod, Fiendslayer Paladin, etc.
4 toughness dodges plenty of removal including Anger of the Gods.
Fated Infatuation is an interesting card. The casting cost will highly limit the decks it can be played in, but a clone effect will always have play potential. The fact that the tokens retain devotion is a huge upside.
As for the Felhide...well I'm not sure how to evaluate. Maybe breakable, maybe not.

Be careful what you wish for or they might reveal Opposition.
Something like that or the whole convoke mechanic would've been pretty cool here, though.
It's as if you think printing Opposition would be bad.

WotC can't win. If they push cards, they're money-grubbers. If they don't, they lack imagination and the game gets boring.
It's good they push a few cards, just so they do it in a way that validates lots of strategies simultaneously for a decently diverse metagame. If that has the benefit of selling more packs as well, this is bad.......why?

Because it is deliberately placed at the rarity that makes them hardest to acquire.

They place it at that rarity so that it won't warp limited (which is actually what the majority of rarity is balanced around). This is the EXACT same reason for the phoenix that they spoiled a few days ago being mythic. This card just happens to be seen as far more constructed playable than the phoenix.
Dat cat tho... what a beast. Blatantly pushed due to being a legend. Not often we get one of these. Kinda surprised they chose to preview it the same night as a 3 mana clone effect though. Bimaz should have been previewed the same night as a bunch of draft only stuff. 3 mana clone would likely have at least garnered interest and caused some discussion if everyone wasn't just floored by Bimaz.

I hear this argument all the time, and I don't buy it one bit.

Counterexample: Pack Rat
Wins limited with a deck of 1 packrat and 39 swamps, reliably with 2 copies.
Completely, utterly destroys limited in ways other cards can't even dream of
And its not a mythic rare?
No, there are far more considerations that go into what rarity a card is than just limited

This card also happens to be the king of one of the major cities in Theros. Why shouldn't he be Mythic?
Fated Infatuation is probably going to find its way into my Talrand Polymorph deck.

Cavaliers saw some play. It was beast mode combined with Shield of the Oversoul.
My guess is that they guy was originally a 3/3, but they wanted to push him for Modern. Modern has Bolt so 4 toughness is the magic number.

How would this warp limited at rare?
Not impressed with any of these cards.
Cat Soldiers and copycat token makers will be bombs in limited, perhaps. But they'll never see serious constructed play.
It's about time we saw some REAL spoilers for once...
