It is! It totally is! But... the Johnny in me compels me to create a combo for it! D:
-Splinter-taur
-Paradise Mantle
-Umbral Mantle
-Training Grounds
-Priest of Urabrask
And there you go! Only takes 5 cards for infinite 2/1s, infitite mana, and an infinitely large minotaur. Now excuse me while I go cry in a corner for even considering this
I feel like Brimaz's blocking ability is.... awkward.
If you block something with him, chances are that creature had power greater than 0 (at least 1). Therefore, if they can't kill Brimaz with their creature, they will just kill the token instead. If they can kill Brimaz, then they will (posssibly leaving you with an extra token). Or they kill both, which means it probably didn't help much.
I guess it does have good synergy with anthem effects like Spear of Heliod, so there's that.
Brimaz probably pushes Ephara over the edge of playability pretty easily. Playing her and attakcing with him gets you a card immediately (yeah, yeah, technically they're next upkeep) and he makes it really easy to draw a card a turn off her while also powering up the devotion with a resilient body.

I primarily play limited, so most of my spoiler season comments view cards through that lens.
I definitely like Brimaz, works well on his own especially if his abilities synergizes really well. The high toughness is a definite plus bringing him out of decent burn range. And its ability which works both in attacking of blocking is really strong. The only downside I see here is that he is legendary so meaning no multiple copies of this across your field, which would have been pretty sweet and over powered.
#1 - What's the dumbest idea you ever had?
#2 - 15/15 for 15?
#1 - Make it dumber
#2 - Give it protection from removal and counter?
#1 - DUMBER!
#2 - Add Timewalk?
#1 - DAMN IT MAN, I SAID DUMB!! DUMB !!!
#2 - It destroys everything when it attacks.... And wait, I have a friend who plays mill decks... I want to beat him too.
#1 - Excellent! Recess is over, go back and learn sex-ed with the other 6th graders.
Is anyone else refreshing the main rumor page, hoping we'll see Phenax? Sygg is my favorite EDH general, and I would really love a 3rd god for the mix.
I'm hitting that ctl-r every three minutes.
He'll probably be revealed tomorrow, right in the middle of my crazy long shift. And be utterly disappointing.
I'm a bit worried about how they're going to keep this up honestly
I say "way back when" more because I wasn't playing at that time T.T Or, rather, I was very VERY casually (like, didn't own my own decks and mooched off of friends casually).
For some reason, I always think that original Ravnica is further back than it actually is. I always get confused with the order of the blocks between around 2000-2006, and end up placing Ravnica WAY earlier than it should be

Brand new weenie deck, you'll need 6-8 new mythics for it! Perfect!
Brimaz, of Oreskos etcis a really good 3 drop as it makes you more and more and more and more cats . with a Spear of Heliod this might be soo good but there is a problem cause mono W has 6 3 drops?
Fated Infatuation is not soo good if it make a splash in standard will be mosltly to have 8 master of waves on a deck. I think people will start playing this but then will put it mainly on sideboard against R devotion or a mono b that don't play Bile Blight
Felhide spiritbinder wow this gaives mono R way more reach . Like droping fanatic of mogis each turn dealing 3+ damage or copying another minotaur lord. Springleaf drum with this in limited is killer.
No Phenax makes me sad. I'm also torn. Part of me is hoping that he hasn't been spoiled yet because it's the card Maro aske specifically to spoil and will be doing next Thursday because then I know it's a good or at the very least interesting card. The other part of me hates that thought because it means I would have to wait until next Thursday to find out what be does.
On the topic of tonight's cards though! Kitty is insane. It's going to do pretty good in SOMETHING probably. I like the blue fated card as well simply because I've always wanted to do a Biovisionary deck and this is just one more support card
Um, no. Kiki-Jiki is the centerpiece of several infinite combos in Modern and EDH. This can't go infinite. If you play Kiki-Jiki in Modern you win. If you play this, you have wasted a turn.
isn't the new blue fated card just another cackling counterpart, a card which has seen 0 play in standard.
I was just about to mention this. I mean, adding scry 2 is significant, but the mana cost is awfully restrictive. I can't fathom this seeing play outside of a heavy-blue combo deck.
isn't the new blue fated card just another cackling counterpart, a card which has seen 0 play in standard. Why is everyone excited about this one? only being able to copy one of your creatures is bad and I don't believe is worth playing in standard. Mono might use it, though for raising the devotion but I feel that deck is clogged right now.
Brimaz is king, literally, among the mythics of born of the gods. He is the 1st mythic I'm 100% convinced will see play. Too pushed not to. Xenagos, Mogis and the others still need some clever deckbuilding.
Instant speed adding devotion or copying Master of Waves to make a bunch of 3/2 Elementals seems strong enough to see play.

Well, this standard just seems to suck. Nightveil Specter, Desecration Demon and a handful of other cards saw 0 play last standard, yet here we are.
The blue and white cards are very creepy
Anyone surprised the best card in the "if it's your turn scry 2" cycle is the blue one? heheh.
the black one seems the best to me. not as mana intensive and really more what the colors wants. clones have never been amazing, especially the ones that limit the targets to your creatures.

Yep, those two cards seem tailor made for each other. He provides hefty devotion and turns on her ability as long as he stays on the table. Very awesome sutff.
Brimaz is just a straight up powerful card. Nice work Wizards.
Fated Infatuation is pretty nifty. Cheap clones are usually pretty awesome. This one is a bit cheaper than the average Clone, can be cast at Instant speed, and comes with potential card selection. So rad.
The Minotaur seems pretty fun. Being able to recycle triggered abilities as well as make expendable attackers sin't something to be dismissed too lightly. However, his relatively fragile body for his cost, as well as relative slowness, definitely put on a damper on his power. Should prove to be an excellent Limited card and fun in casual formats.
The effect could prove so discombobulating to combo players, in particularly, they may fizzle and run away screaming. "From that day the Curse of the Plateau was upon me, and I found every hand I ever pull from a combo deck is a mulligan."

Amusing that the best God for Brimaz, is lore wise the God he probably hates most (As Meletis took the land from the Leonin).
As for the Minotaur, we're getting close to a world where a Minotaur Tribal deck could play. Using that to recycle Fanatics of Mogis would be more than a fair trade off. With some ways to tap out of combat, that could become a wincon of its own.
Brimaz... ummm... :shifty eyes:, It's a completely horrible card, no one should ever play it, in fact you should all trade all your future copies to me as soon as you get them, what? I like cats.
But seriously, that thing is amazing. If you are looking for the definition of power creep, I think he's a pretty good one. No immediate board impact, but at 3 mana that's not usually what you are looking for. A 3/4 for 3 with all the upside? In a color that can fairly easily protect itself(god's blessing/brave the elements)? Seems good to me. And he can enable Ephara's draw ability on both turns by himself. I just hope I can get a couple of copies of him early enough. I think I might start saying 'Here kitty kitty kitty!' whenever I open a Born of the Gods Booster.

well...
if you donate a frozen aether to your opponents
then have two fellhide spiritbinders in play
as well as amulet of vigor, intruder alarm, and a bloom tender...
