Gridlock was pretty bad in gatecrash and full block limited so glimpse the sun god is unlikely going to be close to a bomb in limited.
why do people always try to pull comparisons for viability of cards in completely different formats? Did Gridlock get to play alongside Heroic and Inspired in RTR limited? it may or may not qualify as a bomb, but it's silly to compare the two based on what a totally different play environment looked like.
I really was hoping that the 5 color bestow creature was going to be a Legendary Nymph. Legendary Enchantment Creature - Nymph could have fit in that space and they could have called it, "Daughters of the Nyx" or something. *shrug* Oh well, at this point I wonder if we are going to see any more Nymphs.
Wizards print good rares, players complain about cash grab. They print underwhelming rares, players complain that the cards suck. They spoil the best cards first, players complain about the insane prices of preorders. They spoil the meh cards first, players complain that this is the worst set ever.
So. I think I understand now.
As far as these forums are concerned, WotC can never do anything good because:
Card that is new and probably good = "pushed"
Card that is new and probably bad = "EDH/casual fodder"
Card that is a reprint = "lazy"
Card that is a better version of an older card = "power creep"
Card that is a weaker version of an older card = "worthless"
If the store owner says that I can't trade in the premises, I'll just go outside. If he says that I can't trade within 10m of his premises, I'll go to 11 meters. If he says that he doesn't want to see me trading, I will put a basket over his head and continue trading.
Yes, he's a local legend. He's only known to take his clothes off before he goes into the Ladies' Lockerroom. Nobody knows what he does in there because he's invisible, but it's almost certainly tons of masturbating.
Gaining life from hurting an opponent is extremely common in black.
Blood Baron of Vizkopa and Sorin, Lord of Innistrad's vamp tokens also drain life. They're part white, but lifelink is as equally in white as in black. For that matter, white and black are very similar to each other in a lot of ways. (Don't get freaked out when black gets mass removal. It can do it just as much as white can).
Chromanticore is Akroma, Angel of Wrath only harder to cast and not as good. I would say that it could see play in Commander under any of the several 5-color Legends, but it's really not useful to any of them. Progenitus obviously can't use it, Child of Alara would kill it before it became a creature, it's mostly redundant to Chromat, and handing it Karona, False God is just adding spikes to the beatstick you're already giving to your opponents. The rest of the Rainbow Brigade are Lord of Something Other Than Beasts and therefore have little use for this silly thing. It's almost like they're making fun of Genju of the Realm by making a card that actually manages to be worse.

I can't for the life of me figure out why the spirit of the labyrinth isn't Red...?
or hell even green?
I realize I no longer understand, what the color pie is supposed to do.
A card that is so obvious a hoser should be in the opposing colors, unless its an anti-block like with spectral lynx and the likes...

I dunno about green... We see this kind of effect in red and white, and wizards hates red, so it had to be white i guess

I could be wrong, but a Legendary Enchantment Creature with Bestow would probably break Commander. And if you actually read the article, they explain why it has the keywords it does (i.e. not Hexproof), it isn't that difficult to understand.

taxation has been one of white's earliest color pie abilities
Chromanticore probably was going to be Legendary but not enough room for the text in addition to the other types. I'm fairly certain it was due to lack of space for legendary.
See Sen Triplets. Your reasoning is flawed good sir.

Ah. Well Horizon Canopies, Wastelands, Rishadan Ports, Aether Vials, and Karakas are still expensive so it's not like it's a budget deck.
I don't know what you see, but the card I see definitely does not feel like the waste of a Mythic slot. And none of that, 'it's a waste because it's a narrow card' nonsense; if it was powerful in Standard you'd just be complaining about how much it would cost and some 'Wizard's money grab' nonsense.
This is exactly what a Mythic should look like. Sheer madness, all the way around. The only part of this that gets me is that this guy would have been the perfect opportunity to make a creature whose mana cost and Bestow cost are the same. I can see why they didn't do this for power reasons, but when you have one of each colour of mana, you've already achieved something special.
Still, rad card.
Spirit of the Labyrinth is very, very solid. Better in Legacy than Modern by a longshot (due to the overabundance of amazing and cheap Blue card draw there) to be sure, but it could still be playable in Modern. Not attacking Dark Confidant is unfortunate, but being able to proactively attack your opponent's hand with Vendillion Clique seems awesome. Either way, nice card.
Glimpse of the Sun God is a solid roleplayer in Limited. These sort of effects aren't always powerful, but in Theros this looks like it will play very well. The bonus scry is, of course, always a nice touch.
Solid spattering of cards. Ken Nagle's article was also a pretty solid read.
They gave us Temple of Enlightenment. Now we have all of the duals necessary, instead of having to run Temple of Silence and Temple of Deceit.
...i'm pretty sure you misread his post.

W - Vigilance
U - Flying
B - Deathtouch
R - Doublestrike
G - Hexproof
and he will become one very overpower manticore
I like how white gets hate bears almost every set. Very great design.
Too powerful, but even the card's ability also does not represent each color.
W - Vigilance
U - Flying
B - Lifelink ? Really ?
R - First strike
G - Trample
Modern : RG Titan Shift RG | RG Revolt Zoo RG | RG Ponza RG | RGW Naya Burn RGW
Legacy : RG Belcher RG
Lifelink is a black ability. Vampiric effects in general are common in black.
are the first three lifelinkers that role off the top of my head.
Then ofcourse there's stuff like consume spirit, essence harvest, corrupt, tendrils of corruption, sorin's vengeance, Gray Merchant of asphodel

Not a god, not legendary.
I think she's supposed to follow in the footsteps of disruptive taxation cards like Aven Mindcensor, Suppression Field, and Thalia, Guardian of Thraben.
The extremely high P/T ratio definitely feels red though.

Most of the "hate" cards are white.

The masticore? First impression was "how the hell is that actually going to see play?"
Stay reasonable, be mindful of your expectations and don't feed the trolls.

Apart from being able to trade with Thragtusk, how is this Thragtusk hate? It doesn't prevent tokens or lifegain...
See Sen Triplets. Your reasoning is flawed good sir.
Still doesn't match up to Skylasher, printing that thing right after Delver rotated out is pretty hilarious.
