I can't wait to build a terrible monowhite legacy deck with this and Thalia and then troll people with it. The look on someone's face when they are Thalia locked by your budget deck is priceless, and Shadow will lead to similarly fun games.
That terrible monowhite deck is called Death and Taxes, and it is Tier 1 in Legacy.
With all the silly comments in various Rumor Mill threads recently, I feel I now have to ask:
Generally interested in playing mono-white or is this a tongue-in-cheek commentary on Death and Taxes in Legacy?
I won't be playing Death and Taxes because I'm not going to buy some of the cards. I just built budget legacy decks for fun and I don't really think D and T qualifies these days. I do think that D and T is a tier one deck, but it also creates the same feeling of frustration in some players.

lol what? Budget deck? RUG delver costs like $2k to build.
Chromanticore probably was going to be Legendary but not enough room for the text in addition to the other types. I'm fairly certain it was due to lack of space for legendary.
Gridlock was pretty bad in gatecrash and full block limited so glimpse the sun god is unlikely going to be close to a bomb in limited.
Different environments. It's not uncommon in Theros limited to have stalemates with giant creatures on either side of the board. Just getting through once can easily spell the end.
It also has the bonus of being both a heroic enabler AND an inspired enabler.

More likely because he has Bestow.
And that hate bear is going to be really annoying ;/
WOW, Spirit of the Labyrinth is INSANE. THIS is an AUTO include for ALL the D&T legacy decks. It shuts down brainstorm / jace, is 3 power for 2 mana, stops cantrip creatures from doing anything, etc etc etc... the BEST creature printed this block.
Chromanticore is nothing better than casual fodder. Compare it to a card like Baneslayer angel or Thundermaw hellkite. I'd even say Bloodgift demon is better than it.
Even if we compare it to other 5 color fatties, whats worse than this? Child of alara is better, Fusion elemental is better, Progenitus is so much better, Malestrom Archangel is also better.
the 3/1... Ugh. It didn't upset me that they havent printed any cards for uw control, but now they have to print a hate card? gross.
In other formats though, it's awesome to aether vial this in response to brainstorm. Blowout.

YMTC: We need a spikey red enchantment. My creations:

Whenever a player would gain life, flip a coin. If heads, that player loses that much life instead. If tails sacrifice [card] and that player gains that life as per usual.
Spirit is a really elegant design that takes full advantage of Theros' Enchantment Creatures.
It would almost certainly be too good if it weren't doubly vulnerable to removal.

doesn't stop sphinx at all. They won't play Sphinx till it's off the board. Just supreme or d-sphere it.
a card that demands removal is a GOOD card, thats like saying, well it dies to doom blade so its bad. this card isnt bad against agrro and its pretty good against control, if you find the right shenanigans to play around it, it will be very difficult to deal with.

As soon as I saw it I thought death and taxes would love it. Hello value town as it will see legacy and standard play.
Chromanticore is, as many others have noted, a greatly missed opportunity (not being legendary,) but is nonetheless awesome. I just wish Hexproof replaced Trample, but that could very well be broken, at least in standard.
Glimpse the Sun God actually seems really REALLY good in limited, because it can enable GW +1/+1 counter heroic creatures and other heroics that don't just get combat buffs, while also being a good 1-turn Sleep effect for either a fog or a victory swing with scry tacked on.
Spirit of the Labyrinth will be a $20 or more card within two years, calling it. Decent aggro in standard; solid sideboard card in modern; Incredibly good hatebears, aggro, and maverick card in legacy; And downright nasty hate card in vintage. This card is very legit, and definitely gonna be one of my big speculations for the set.
For what it's worth, the opposite of evergreen is "deciduous" so I suggest we start using that from now on to refer to shroud, banding, islandhome, etc.

Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.

Not all mono white decks are Death and Taxes. Karakas is not a budget card.
Doesn't really nerf Underworld, since they can just activate it on your turn.
Chromanticore is going to be a bulk rare because it's not Legendary.
Glimpse the Sun God is the second-worst card printed to date with the word "Glimpse" in the name. Limited bomb probably though.
