These punisher cards need to be so strong that both outcomes will **** over an opponent in most situations. This isn't that tribute card. The card we need is something like this:
Recallmogoyf
UG
Creature- Lhurgoyf
Tribute 0
If Recallmogoyf's tribute cost was paid, its power is equal to the number of card types in play and its toughness is equal to the number of card types in all graveyards plus one.
If Recallmogoyf's tribute cost wasn't paid, draw three cards.

Tribute was a good idea that was done so badly. The hydra seems to be the only card so far that was made correctly. This one is why we didn't see a reprint of Acidic Slimeand it doesn't even come close to what the slime did. What were they so afraid of they took away Fiend Hunter?

The reason I play black according to CrovaxtheCursed:
If the store owner says that I can't trade in the premises, I'll just go outside. If he says that I can't trade within 10m of his premises, I'll go to 11 meters. If he says that he doesn't want to see me trading, I will put a basket over his head and continue trading.
Yes, he's a local legend. He's only known to take his clothes off before he goes into the Ladies' Lockerroom. Nobody knows what he does in there because he's invisible, but it's almost certainly tons of masturbating.
Not a good card. Pretty much only useful in edh, and in that format there's way better Cards to use for this kind of ability. Comparisons to sylvan primordial are misguided.
Straight lock for EDH. Remember you choose who pays the tribute.
"Yeah bro, wanna destroy dat Jace the Mindsculptor, help me out."
"Sure bro."
Still no reason to run this over literally any card that actually destroys a non-creature permanent without making you beg an opponent to let you do it.
Well, not all the Uncommons in the set could be totally awesome now, could they?
Mediocre, even in Limited, but not so bad I wouldn't play it if it was in colour. I don't imagine myself picking these high or anything, but it could be worse.
The only times they won't pay the tribute will be when it has nothing to destroy, so this is basically a 6/6 for 5 mana. That's decent in limited, better than Kindercatch.
EDIT: Wait, this is uncommon? I was totally convinced it was common.

Tribute~ if opponent pays tribute this creature becomes boring, vanilla and unplayable.
The only tribute creatures that will be any good will be those that actually have abilities even if tribute is paid. The phoenix has flying, the fanatic has trample.
This is just a 5 mana Bramblecrush that your opponent can just say no to if they have anything worth killing.
At this point, i wish Tribute also did cool things if Tribute WAS paid. Like, for this guy, give it trample if tribute was paid or if it has any +1/+1 counters.
So far every tribute card seems really great in limited. 3/3 + land destroy (at worst!) for 5? Decent. 6/6 for 5? Awesome.
A vanilla 6/6 for 5 is not that good limited. It's actually pretty bad. Add on that late game it's a 3/3 for 5 that blows up an irrelevant permanent and it gets much worse.

I'm going to call bully on both accords.
First, a 6/6 for 5 is quite good in limited. Anything on curve is already quite playable, and anything above the curve is extremely good. Particularly when it's 5 mana or less. A 6/6 for 6 is limited playable- certainly not first pick, but a solid inclusion in almost any limited deck. A 6/6 for 5 is almost a no brainer.
Normally, the other side would be much worse in limited, but we are in a format where Bestow is quite popular and voltron creatures are common place enough. Dismantling a piece of the tron will be important.
*That said*, this suffers a bit because the one side is heavily conditional. It's certainly not unlikely you'll hit something, but if there are only somewhat irrelevant targets or no targets it will be an overcosted 3/3. It's certainly something I'd consider playing in a green limited deck, however a 6/6 for 5 it is not (Nor is it a toned down Predator Ooze). It's worthwile at times, particularly against bestow-heavy decks.
Not sure wtf limited format you play. Maybe you thinking of powered cubes...
Agreed on this. I can't think of a single limited format where a 6/6 for 5 would not only be an auto-include, but a fairly high pick at that.
This is a little different, and I expect it to go a bit later than a regular 6/6 for 5 would, but to say a 6/6 for 5 in limited is "pretty bad" is fundamentally false.
Ok cool, now when can I get a RG beast lord? as for tribute not being that great you just just wait for that overpriced expansion ability relevant enchantment to come out and... not make it any better
Excellent is a bit of a stretch. Like, a lot of one, Excellent Limited cards are ones you'd always want to first pick if in colour, are rarely going to to table, and dominate the board when they get into play. This card doesn't have any of those qualities. It's not bad, fulfilling a necessary role and providing decent stats most of the time, but even a 6/6 for 5 in this format has its issues. I have cast many a Vulpine Goliath, so I know where this card fits, but I dare say in most situations its going to get edged out by Nessian Asp (which is an Excellent card for Limited in all forms) or Centaur Battlemaster. You can only ever play so many 5 drops, and this is weaker than some of the options already available.
But that's fine. Not every card needs to be a home run, even in Limited. It'll see play, but no one is going to go nuts for it.

Tribute is such a bad keyword/ability though...
