Slight utility bump on an already solid card, sweet art, what's not to like? Its interesting that they are in fact willing to print a decent sweeper at uncommon, I had thought that was a thing of the ancient past by this point.
Current mono black simply adopt this card as a way to kill swarm decks (the only deck it struggles with now) and kill off Xenagos/Elspeth tokens until they draw a Downfall. New standard is shaping up to keep mono B as a key player (unless mostly black Orzhov beats it out by using nearly the same deck plus Baron).
I'm not sure, is this going into the main deck, or is it just a really strong sideboard card?
Sideboard. Is pointless against U/W, Esper, somewhat "meh" against G/R monsters (Does kill Burning tree shenanigans, though), murder against any aggro, depending on the build could be solid against Selesnya. Pointless in the mirror for the most part, as well as in most decks running black. Quite solid against Mono-U for taking out Tidebinder, Judge's Familiars, and Masters. Not a game ender, but great value should be had from it usually on most of their turn 1-3 plays.
It's going to warp the format a bit methinks. Aggro may disappear completely,, and X/2 creatures may be few and far between simply because it exists.
I could see it eating the main deck slots that pharika's cure occupies in mono black right now. It kills turn 2 pack rat on the draw which is important, is better versus a lot of the aggro decks in the format atm, and is less dead against esper as it can sweep a swarm of soldiers or double up to eat a baron.
I think this will be the best art on a black card for the entire set. Especially in foil.
FA Pain Seer disagrees. On topic, I'm glad this is uncommon, makes it much easier to get playsets, I can see my BUG using it well, Prophet, Reaper, and Omenspeaker all survive.
Was hoping for a black DoJ, but thisll do nicely. Fast Aggro is imo the hardest matchup for mono-B and this should help greatly against weenie decks. Unfortunately against boros midrange it only hits BTE and Ash zealot.
As for eternal formats, I doubt this will see legacy play as Toxic Deluge is more flexible for the same CMC. Not sure about modern, what (currently existing) deck would want it?
Not more than any other board wipe. Usually the only time it will be a creature during your turn is if they are desperately chump-blocking with it, and then you don't need a board wipe to kill it.
Wow, a better Infest. I like it a lot. People have been wanting Mono Black to be a deck for a few years now, and now its certainly locked in (unless they print some absurd anti black cards).
Keeps the swarm decks in check, and can even deal with an opposing Pack Rat.

Dang, just noticed it was a sorcery. For some reason, I was under the impression that it was an instant, which would have been soooo much more powerful
"Then, from the Dark, They came
And found the Souls of Lords within the flame.
Nito, the first of the dead
The Witch of Izalith, and her daughters of chaos
Gwyn, the Lord of Sunlight, and his faithful knights
And the FURTIVE PYGMY, SO EASILY FORGOTTEN"
Hah, I see I'm not the only one who immediately thought of this on seeing the card.

Yeah, that certainly would have made it stronger. Unhealthily powerful IMO.
In your defense, an "instant infest" was a popular guess when we received the rumor of a "strictly better infest."
I'm just glad the people at my LGS were wrong. They were reaching for the moon hoping for -4/-4 for 3 cmc so that their MBD lists could more easily kill off blood baron. (shudder)

I was hoping for Infest, but this will obviously do.

Definitely going in my mono black deck though, Boros is very popular where I play and this kills token decks dead.
Thoughtseize? it'd be Mythic at that point
There's only so many things you can do with scry without being too original and running the risk of creating things people hate.
Only if it's activated during your turn. ???
There's something I don't like about the card - maybe its artwork, which is okay, or the flavour text. Still, though it is boring, I guess it's solid.
