Yes, better art for the Kraken! That's the third sea monster promo in three sets, my blue Braids leviathans EDH is pleased (and might even have a new Commander, to boot)...
And promo Seer. Damn. If he even goes half-Bob that'll be an awesome one to have...
But what's weird to me: All 5, and I mean all 5, PR promos have better arts on the non-promos. They picked 5 cards with great art (esp Sphinx, Dragon, Demon) and gave them outright worse arts for the promo. Go figure on that one.
that's not what happened at all. kamahl stabbed phage, akroma, and some old lady and they became korona. then korona got stabbed by her "prophets" and kamahl got drunk with a mutant centaur
I'm happy for more Blue Leviathan Promos, i wanna make a GU Monsters deck with Kiora!!
and i'd have to argue with you, SarumanTheChief about a few the of the PR Promos. Granted, i think the White and Blue non-PR cards look better, but the Red, Black, and Green ones are better imo. it might be the shiny that's a bit off, especially with the Green one.
Though to be fair, one of the Hydra arts has the 12 heads, and one the 6 (seemingly), so you could alternate them based on if the Tribute was paid

My god. That art on Kiora's Follower. I dare say that is the greatest art ever created for a magic card. They've done it. We can all go home now. Nothing can top that.
...On a side note, why is the art for prerelease promos always so bad?
Just noticed that there's SHARKS on the Follower's art (bottom left, mid right).
Yes.

Nah. The promo art for Eater of Hope is better than the original. The other 4 are a noticeable drop-off though.
I just realized that the heads of the Hydra with tribute are the heads from that Face the Hydra deck.

I fear I won't have much time to play Magic these days.
I get to watch worlds develop around me.
I get to watch great leaders, terrible oppressors, and trend setters rise and fall.
Limited, Standard, Modern, everything is a different playing field I feel I can observe, but will not actually touch.
I look forward to the stories I will hear.
And more so to the ones I will watch unfold first hand.
Isn't the unknown exciting?

I usually dislike promo arts, but this time they're even worse than expected. The only one I really like is Pain Seer, it looks totally awesome.
Anyway, the fact we're getting him as a Game Day promo worries me. I mean, what was the last standard staple they gave us in a Game Day? Black Sun's Zenith? They usually give us barely playable cards at most, so the fact they've chosen the Seer this time kind of indicates the real power level they think he has.
Also, I love how the promo article when from one that hyped up the prerelease, release and Game Day activities to just block text and pictures. It's like they know we don't look at the text.
Good lord, game day is going to be rough, thought I was out of standard but looks like they're going to reel me back in. Guess I'll have to hold on to my JAoT and Sphinx's Revelations a bit longer.

"People underestimate Bob at their peril." - Rayland Givens
Kiora's Follower art reminds me of what was good about early Magic. Colorful and rather simplistic. And very beautiful, I might add.
Alt Silent Sentinel, however, reminds about worse side of artwork on early cards. Ugh. Poses and off-impression that sphinx is going to headbutt someone.
see, NOW I like the kraken, and it seems worthy of being unleashed. all it took was some more appealing art
also, love that promo kiora's follower, really really really beautiful. Not common for art like that on a trading card, glad to see such a thing exists and I hope its received well so we can get more

The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can tough the poison of hatred without being harmed. Since beginning-less time, darkness thrives in the void but always yields to purifying light.
I invision a future where one is not mighty when he can silence a crowd with brutality,
but when he leaves them speechless with wisdom.
No offense to Kev Walker, but the Silent Sentinel prerelease promo... it looks like a green samurai riding a winged version of the cowardly lion from an animated series of The Wizard of Oz.
The rest of the prerelease promo arts are less amazing when compared to their original counterparts in my own blunt opinion, maybe except for Eater of Hope.
Tromokratis definitely looks better in the promo, since it feels less "silly" and has a town for comparison.
I'm not particularly bowled by the Game Day promos, but I can understand why people are happy and excited. Pain Seer feels too much like Ezio to me.
Fated Conflagration is actually a pretty nice piece of art.
Man, both of the gameday cards are sweet! I gotta get one of those full art pain seer's. Even though I doubt they'll see much play outside of rakdos aggro. (Mono B definitely doesn't want him)
"If fetch lands are reprinted I really believe they will be in allied colors (aka Onslaught fetches). If the fetch lands are reprinted you better believe that we'll all be fetching up basics. This would lead me to believe that the set after THS may have a reprint as the temples can't be fetched but it's pure speculation." - posted 03/22/2014 proved correct during Khans spoiler season.
"The set releases for fall 2015 (Blood, Sweat and Tears) and fall 2016 (Lock, Stock and Barrel). One or both of those 2 blocks (I'm betting) are going to contain either Fetch reprints or (more likely) Filter reprints. Filter lands still need a reprint. They are getting pretty high up there and it's been longer than ZEN so it makes a little more sense that Filter lands would see print earlier that fetches." - posted 03/22/2014 proved incorrect about filters coming earlier than fetches, still pending on filters in Origins block.

For me, the Tromo Promo really captures the sense of a massive creature getting ready to smash whatever gets in its way.

Yes.

The follower seems to have his own followers!
I love this card!
Yea Kev Walker's contribution for Silent Sentinel is terrible. He must have known it was promo...
Btw how does the Pain Seer promo inflict pain on himself? Seems to me the original tells a better story.

No, that's this guy.
In all seriousness, that Merfolk full art is tidy. Something Tempest-era about it.
