Who knows? Xenagos is the first one in that regard but I think not. Your godly power comes from Theros so you would probably lose them if you enter another plane.
I don't actually know if he IS up against Elspeth...
Considering the very first art we saw of Journey was of Elspeth and Ajani fighting against Xenagos, yeah, he probably goes mad with power at some point.
He said: May the fates aid any who venture into the night... alone!
I checked the subs of the German version. Apparently Xenagos is refferring to Elspeth when he says this beats me why though.
what happened to the previous RG god that xenagos is trying to be?
Like what others said, there wasn't one. Hence the name for Temple of Abandon. You also see this temple in the trailer, don't remember what point but you see horns growing on/around it.
Out of all "villains" in Magic, the Phyrexians, Bolas, ETC, Xenagos is the most badass.

Immediately after the draft, you may notice how freakin' screwed you are, as someone just used Lore Seeker to get a pack of Zendikar with a power nine inside.

Anyone think the voice behind Xenagos at the end might be Ashiok? I know that Heliod had the echoey voice in the Theros trailer, but the echo in this trailer sounds much different and says different dialogue. The phrase "I will take my place in the night," sounds like Ashiok and is a nice mirror of Xenagos's "I will make my place in the sky."
Thats a good point. I didnt even notice that.
She will probably play the role of Tamiyo in that she is just there but wont be of any use in regards to what happens on Theros.
Go read Paradise Lost. Or a translation of it. If you read it, you find yourself siding with Lucifer a majority of the time because he "makes the most sense" and seems to be the "most logical." In fact, he's making pretty much the same arguments that Xenagos is making here.
The point is not that Lucifer is good because of this. The point is that Lucifer is so tricky and that humans are so sinful that we naturally are inclined to side with him. Same with Xenagos here. Gods are GODS. Mortals are NOT supposed to understand them. Xenagos doesn't either.
If anyone noticed the black orb the guy is holding up. That art looks reminiscent of Damnation. Fits the theme of the evil god, and looks very much like its coming back in Born of the Gods. Anyone else can disagree but its pretty obvious that black orb is Damnation.

Or, we've become more ethical than our religious traditions. Having come to recognize that equality and fairness are good and tyranny and theocracy are bad when it comes to their effect on human lives. Xenagos is sympathetic because the idea of giving powerful beings a pass on their atrocities because the happen to be mighty immortal beings is stupid.
Xenagos is awesome because he espouses that might doesn't make right while, at the same time, grabbing all the might he can. In fiction, the high quality antagonists always believe in what they are doing and garner our sympathies and then go too far. Often to the point of hypocrisy or reversing the very thing that was earlier idealized.

So the art of a man being tormented by having to hold an orb that increases in weight is the same as a black hole sucking up and killing creatures? Your just making-up a reason why Damnation would be in. And we'd get a black version of Day of Judgment, not a straight up reprint of Damnation.

That would work if the underlined was in the trailer. It isn't. The line is "May the fates aid any who venture in to the night...alone." Plus Ashiok has no need or want to usurp Phenax or to stick around Theros forever. Ashiok embraced the ability to travel the multiverse, gathering nightmares and scaring beings. Xenagos just ended up bitter after realizing he has a power the gods don't even have yet he cant really use it to party because most of the planes we know of don't have satyrs.

Actually he does. Remember that their based off of the Greek gods. Heilod even proclaimed he was the greatest of them all much like Zues.

This. He complains about the gods meddling then goes on to become a god and meddle with the mortal just like they do. His very ascension is screwing up the fabric of reality, which none of them asked for.

I think this sums everything up. Now we need the story about elspeth going into Nyx.
I think with Xenagos, if he had not been a Planeswalker and learned about realms beyond Theros, he wouldn't have even attempted becoming a god. No, I am not referring to his desire to become one, based on feeling insignificant. It's just like the BNG Guide mentioned - that the other Theros gods must confront the reality of their existence not as the creators of their plane, but as creations of it. This is probably the secret that Xenagos learned when he Planeswalked and learned of other realms - that even as gods of Theros, the existence of other planes, other divinities or great powers on those other worlds, and the fact Theros is merely just another one of them meant that the gods were actually just part of their world, even as rulers, and thus they ascended into godhood rather than having been that way from the beginning. So if they could, he could and therein lay the secret of how to do it for himself.
So really, Planeswalking seemed to be the key to him unraveling the truth about Theros, its gods and the ambition and possibility of him becoming one himself. Without having been a PW, he may never have realized this. Neither him nor anyone for that matter.

Once we get to the part of the trailer with the party, there's a second voice that interjects between Xenagos's lines. That's what I'm talking about.
Xenagos: And now, they revel in their victory!
(Background: A victory I will take for myself!)
Xenagos: As I make my place...
(Background: My place...)
Xenagos: ...in the sky...
(Background: ...in the night...)
Xenagos: ...among the gods!
Edit: It also seems to come in earlier when Xenagos is talking about Elspeth. It's hard to make out what is being said over Xenagos's lines though.
Xenagos: Will her heroism be enough to save them? Hmhmhmhahahahaha! Oh, yes!
(Background: Her wish has been denied.(?))
Ashiok didn't come to Theros to become a god, but it happens to be a place where the potential for Ashiok to practice his/her nightmare magic is especially strong. Ashiok has clearly transcended mortality to some degree, maybe Theros will allow him/her to take the next step towards becoming an avatar of nightmares.

I caught this as well. Pretty sure that that secondary voice is Ashiok, and your explanation makes a ton of sense. Ashiok isn't just another Tamiyo stopping by to do his thing then bolt out of there. According to that one Uncharted Realms story, he's taken an interest in Theros and seen that it's pretty much the perfect breeding ground for his nightmare abilities.
While I think Kiora is going to be doing her thing on the side (doubt she even gets involved in anything), I believe Ashiok might play a bigger role in the story. He's already met up with Phenax and with the Theros gods having issues dealing with Xenagos' ascension, I could see Ashiok stepping in and making the most of the opportunity (like he did to the polis in that story).
So much power
So much adoration
And what do the gods do with it?
They MEDDLE.
Ephara cuddles the humans like children
While Phenax, ever amused by their torment, finds new ways to enjoy them
Karametra strives to keep the mortals sheltered from the gathering shadows
And Mogis has seized the opportunity to set his minotaurs upon them
But standing among their ranks is the sun god's champion, Elspeth.
Will her heroism be enough to save them?
Mmmwahahahaha.....oh YES. [At least for now]
So now they revel in their victory! [A victory I will take for myself!]
While I make my place [my place] in the skies! [in the night!]
Among the gods!
Darkness approaches.
May the Fates aid any [Elspeth] who venture into the night...alone.
Feel free to correct it.

Well i'll be...you guys are right. That explains why Elspeth name was in all the translated versions at the end. So now its clear that Ashiok whole reason for being on Theros is because its after her nightmares. Since Dack Fayden doesn't exactly exist in canon or continuity Elspeth would be the only PW with nightmares that would interest Ashiok.

"Party Energy" is pretty much exactly what happens.
Because after Xenagos ascends, Elspeth is blamed for it and exiled into the wilds alone.
It's implied that there was none, or it was dead for so long no one remembers.
