This is a sweet idea. I think they will probably keep the devotion requirement for it to be a creature though, because that is the flavor of gods. You worship them and then they become real and do stuff for you. Also, it would be lame if the god was only 2/2.
I think you're right, although I was trying to take a different approach with the minor gods.
(For the major gods, their boons are always there for you to use, but the actual gods themselves don't show up unless you worship them enough. On the other hand, the minor gods are always physically present when you summon them, but they don't grant you their boons unless you show the proper devotion.)
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
Dark Tutelage already exists and it is not very good.
I'm still calling it's UB Sylvan Library. Been wanting that ever since MaRo mentioned it.
Interesting.

At the begining of your upkeep
Scry 3. reveal the top card of your library and lose life equal to its CMC.
perhaps its is the U/B god?
at the begining of your upkeep
If you have 4 devotion to blue scry 2.
then if you have 4 devotion to black reveal the top card and lose life equal to its cmc.
Seer of Phenax 1UB
Creature- Goat Lizard Bird Wizard
Whenever you scry, target player reveals the top card of his or her library, loses life equal to that card's converted mana cost, then puts it into his or her hand.

Though really, it's probably going to be something underwhelming (if Bob-ish) as Dark Tutelage and Duskmantle Seer are both sitting pretty on a combined value of $2.31. So don't get too excited!
Yes!!! A legendary Goat Bird Wizard would be awsome. Hopefully something abusable with Seaside Haven!
I totally agree: There is only one Bob. The reason he works is because he is relevant early and late game card advantage and can bring the game home as a 2/1 dude. The hint may point towards some variant of anyone of the neat suggestions in this thread but it will likely be:
1. Overhyped (overpriced) to start
2. With a downside that makes it too niche or ineffective
Even phyrexian arena doesn't see play in modern while Bob is a 4 of in one of the most powerful Modern decks.
Bob effect at 3 mana was underwhelming as an enchantment - Dark Tutelage
A tougher Flying Bob-like creature at 4cc still has yet to see play - duskmantle seerer. Blood Scrivner has done all of nothing so far.
While the hint may point to something real - it may not be Dark Confidant. I definately overpaid for my duskmantle seerers and Blood scrivner's.
I was talking to a pro player earlier today about a bob reprint in standard and i said it couldn't possibly happen with MM just so recent... but he thought that they could very well be planning a Bob in standard based on the fact that standard has shifted and would allow a bob in the format currently. I hope it is a spell that makes duskmantle seer playable personally xD.

u/b tutelage could be interesting yah... i just want to see it at 1 or 2 so it doesn't hurt curve of ashiok and would pair well with thoughtseize... could be powerful.
Can people stop saying that this is an enchantment block? It isn't. There were no normal global enchantments in Theros. There were almost no cards that interacted positively with enchantments. It is as much of an enchantment block as Return to Ravnica was.
Anyways, I hope Phenax ends up having the Dark Confidant ability and Scry 2 as an activated ability, as previously mentioned.
Correct. if you actually quote the OP, you'll see it's not an AE, but an a struck through and then an e. Reads to me to indicate a reference to Dark Confidant, but that's not the proper way to spell it in the context.

The last thing we need is another Griselbrand. Innistrad block had not one but two Demons that drew cards on a regular basis, without jumping through any hoops.

Some of kind of Phyrexian Arena variant?
Instead of losing one life for the extra card you might lose life equal to it's CMC
Not as powerful and allows them to print a vanilla verison of the classic effect
Dark Tutelage already exists and it is not very good.

I had never seen that card (I wasn't around for M11)
A UB Sylvan Library would be bananas
I guess the OP (& others in his/her shoes) like to watch us squirm as we throw out banal idea after banal idea...

What about a 2 CMC Dark Tutelage?

Jesus this sounds exactly like Dark Confidant.
I agree. Fits Theros quite well. But it only has scry 1 IIRC.
I thought it was pretty Bobvious as well.
To everyone thinking it'll be a Necropotence or Yawgmoth's bargain with legs...isn't one Griselbrand enough?
It must be a part of the clue meaning that this have to do something with AEther

Anyway they've done 2cmc bob and 3cmc enchantment bob. Maybe it will be 2cmc enchantment creature bob.
