I didn't said Ajani would turn into a god. I was purely talking about story-line. Imagine Ajani as a PW-card in Magic but the story-line behind have him stick on Theros as a replacement RG-god - in accordance to Musicman.
True, but I was using your point to illustrate mine.
1) Ajani is the least popular of the 3 mono white walkers, so they could use this as an excuse to replace him in core with Gideon/Elspeth. I hope not, as Ajani's my favorite of the 5, (and 2nd favorite of the white planeswalkers), but I see this as a possibility.
He is also the ORIGINAL white walker. they have already tried gideon as a core set walker and promptly returned to ajani. the core 5 are likely not to change, as they've made it clear the core set is completely independent of the story lines. that last sentence is the only reason they could justify making him a god (core set independence).
2) RG are colors of magic that Ajani is able to use, but as Tzefick said, if he does end up being a God, he wouldn't replace Xenago's spot as a RG God.
Ajani is a white walker, and other than vengeant, which if you go buy his abilities should have been a UWR walker (the permanent tapping is strictly blue), his abilities have been purely white based. token generation is both a white and green ability, but the tokens generated and the counter placement is what's important. ajani has been a white walker, through and through.
3) Oreskos Sun Guide, and the Theros planeswalker guide, pretty much state outright that the majority of Leonin don't worship the Gods. Even if they do, and start worshiping Ajani, I don't see it as a strike against the possibility of him becoming a God.
honestly, there is little reason to make him a god. that makes a 6th god in the next set and takes away from the 5th planeswalker slot and one of the 15 mythic slots. it is very disadvantages to the integrity of the set and the story line to make ajani a god.
if ajani is the 5th walker, he'll be GW.
it is the only guild color that does not yet have a planeswalker of it's own. every other color alignment has at least 1, with GR having 3 and UB having 2. it covers the other side of ajani's shard, and it fits his play style. i don't like that it gives green a third walker this block, and a 5 walker this standard, meaning that green is effectively a part of 50% of the 10 walkers this standard. and people complain about jace's being favoured by wotc....

Well, according to MaRo, Ajani is both the least popular of the Lorwyn 5, and the least popular mono white planeswalker. That, combined with the fact that he's gone the longest of the 5 without being "the face" of anything, leads me to believe that they're looking for an excuse to either kill him off, or put him on the sidelines. Somewhere it was said that Theros block will have a "real effect" (or something of that sort) on a planeswalker, and this certainly would quality.
As for his colors, Ajani's aside from being from Naya, he's outright been seen to be casting green, red, and white spells. Tapping isn't exclusive to blue, white gets it too. I'm not saying his default color isn't white - it clearly is. I'm saying he's used other colors of magic, and seeing them appear again wouldn't be completely against character or be completely unexpected. I too hope for, and somewhat expect, Ajani to be a GW planeswalker in Journey Into Nyx.
As for Ajani being a God, I just think it will happen in the story, as an excuse to shove him to the sidelines. I don't expect him to be a God card.
I think Ajani is not well-liked because his forms haven't been pushed and he's a bit narrow.
Goldmane is semi-boring and doesn't have a huge impact on entry.
Vengeant is picked up as a control-card, which some players aren't prone to use, especially in those colors.
Caller was an experiment to push him, but it wasn't enough to make WW want him as an auto-include like Elspeth (mind you, that's Elspeth 1.0 for WW).
Garruk has always been more or less quite useful. Good tools and relevant abilities through and through.
Liliana had her Veil-iteration and she was accepted (I think before that that she was a rather disliked card).
Chandra has always been a strange card. Chandra 1.0 was not particularly powerful but overall it was acceptable and the inclusion of Chandra 4 is likely to have increased her popularity.
Jace is a category for himself. Most people like his overall abilities, mindset, colors, character - perhaps influenced by the surprise-success of JTMS. Jace 1.0 was an odd one for many but overall still liked because it said "Draw card" AND he was the first ever 3-mana PW.
So I think Ajani is lowest on popularity because he has yet to receive his successfully pushed card.
Not sure why this news is a disappointment? With all the Heroes and Gods, this is the perfect block to give Walkers a rest while the block shines on its own. When they come back, they'll be that much juicier for their absence.
The only real question here is - when will the Walker Block appear?
Well, according to MaRo, Ajani is both the least popular of the Lorwyn 5, and the least popular mono white planeswalker. So you don't think Xenagos already becoming a god is an event that has a "real affect" on a planeswalker? they're not going to do it twice. its piss poor story making.
ajani is the least favourite because, as you said it, other than Vengeant, he doesn't have a pushed card. he was also replaced 2 core sets ago, along with lili before returning to the OG 5. chandra was in much the same boat until the m14 launch, and the only reason that she's been more popular is likely due to her female genitalia. the problem with most ajani cards is that they do nothing for the archetypes they're built around. just like red, white creature decks thrive on cheap, efficiently costed low power creatures to deal damage quickly. they don't want expensive permanents that have a minor immediate impact. planeswalkers are meant for midrange and control decks. that's where they thrive, because those decks thrive on more expensive permanents with larger return on investment in a longer game. even the "good" chandra has only really seen play in midrange and control decks, and has pretty much fallen out of favour now.
Vengeant's tap ability is blue, through and through. white has only gotten the "doesn't untap during its controller's next untap step" text on TWO other cards in the history of white, and they had names to pair with their abilities. this ability is consistently in blue, however.
also, like it's been said before (by myself included), the minute kiora was spoiled, ajani was not in BNG.
Unless its a ajani vengeant reprint!!! that would be KILLER!! (but it wont be..)
correct, it won't be. the card is far too powerful for standard for WotC to feel comfortable with printing it while the shock lands are still in standard. a 4 mana walker that frost titans and lightning helixes is way too strong for a format that wizards is trying to slow the power creep in.
Ajani's not going to become a god. He's just not. They already made such a stink about how many problems were caused by Xenagos's ascension that they aren't going to have the two white Planeswalkers -- those most concerned about maintaining order -- to be like, "ohai u guize, I guess we can make teh kitteh a godz now."
And Wizards is a profit-making company first and foremost. They are not going to axe one of their own intellectual properties, even if it is one of the "least" profitable ones. If anything, we're going to see a very powerful Ajani Planeswalker card in JOU so that they can increase his popularity.
Has ajani been confirmed as the other planes walker? Why hasn't anyone thought it could be Brimaz teaming up with Elspeth. Just a random thought with no support

The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can tough the poison of hatred without being harmed. Since beginning-less time, darkness thrives in the void but always yields to purifying light.
I invision a future where one is not mighty when he can silence a crowd with brutality,
but when he leaves them speechless with wisdom.
Ajani is in no shape or form even remotely confirmed as GW.
He basically is. We already got a mono white walker this block in elspeth (and they don't print more than 1 walker of a specific color combination per block), and even if we didn't, we shouldn't be getting a mono white mythic next set. He can't be W/R or W/B because those have gods coming, and he won't be W/U because we've already got 2 mythics in that combo this block (also totally not his colors). Therefore, unless he's something strange like R/x (which would make very little sense), he'll be G/W.
I think that Ajani will be WG. There won't be 2 mono-white planeswalkers in the same block and Ajani's character doesn't seem very red at the moment.
Beyond that, he couldn't be R/W (since that's already taken next set by the R/W God), and he can't be mono red because we already got the mono red mythic from the small sets this set (we'll get the blue and green ones, and presumably an artifact, next set)
EDIT: Not that mono red is even somewhat in character for him in the first place. Just was throwing that out there, since there WAS sort of a precedent in him being R/W
He is also the ORIGINAL white walker. they have already tried gideon as a core set walker and promptly returned to ajani. the core 5 are likely not to change, as they've made it clear the core set is completely independent of the story lines. that last sentence is the only reason they could justify making him a god (core set independence).

I'm assuming that Xenagos will still be in the next set. He's being built up WAY too much to just disappear all of a sudden. Plus, they gave themselves a precident (and an open slot) for a 5 color card. It would make perfect sense, based on the fact that the whole reason Xenagos became a god in the first place is to defeat the other gods, presumably gaining their power (thus explaining his even more powered up look in the JIN posters). On top of that, it would help explain why Chromanticore isn't legendary (making 2 legendary 5 color creatures in 1 block would be really... weird, to say the least)

I wasn't saying they'd axe him, I was saying they might make him a god in the story as an excuse to keep him otherwise occupied and replace him in core with the supposedly more popular Gideon or Elspeth. Yeah, as Sonicgundam said, they tried replacing him with Gideon, and while it can be argued that them switching back to Ajani means that Gideon in core set was a failure, keep in mind that Jace, Chandra, and Garruk have yet to be replaced at all. Also, card power has nothing to do with it. Ajani's JOU card could be amazing, and I hope it is. Still, Ajani is said to be the least popular CHARACTER of the mono white Planeswalkers.
All signs point to Ajani being GW, and I think he will be. MaRo made a point of mentioning that there would have to be a very good story reason to justify having two mono-colored 'walkers of the same color in the same block. That said, he is far from confirmed as being GW. For all we know, there is a very good story reason to justify having both Ajani and Elspeth be mono-white.
True, but I was using your point to illustrate mine.
I mean: The cats are MADE for devotion, and don't plan on feeding any god anytime soon.
Also.
It's quite funny that it's actually cats who don't worship gods, from a flavor perspective.
Funny, because it's 'true'.
