I'm guessing that she'll be another overcosted planeswalker with a $40 preorder that will drop down to $15 within months of release after she sees minimal play. Tamiyo, Vraska, Gideon 2, Ral Zarek, Ashiok, Xenagos, etc.
This card type has been utterly stagnant since Liliana of the Veil was printed in Innistrad. I'd like to see the envelope pushed a bit here.

These days, some wizards are finding they have a little too much deck left at the end of their $$$.

R&D have consciously lowered the power level of planeswalkers over the past few years, making them more niche and less universally good. They have also admitted to erring on the side of caution when it comes to costing planeswalkers, in order to avoid another JtMS. I have a feeling Kiora will be powerful, but cost 5 or 6 to keep with her big, splashy theme.

This type of statement isn't being entirely fair. They have printed plenty of interesting and unique planeswalkers since Innistrad: Tamiyo (I personally thought she was very strong and would be nice to see reprinted in a core set), Jace, Architect, Garruk, Caller, Chandra Pyromaster, Domri Rade, and Elspeth, Sun's Champion. Even before Liliana there were a lot of hit and misses like Sarkhan, the Mad.
All I'm saying is that Wizards is perfectly capable of printing playable planeswalkers in this day and age. It might not be on the eternal playable level like Liliana, but it could easily be Standard playable. And some of the more recent planeswalkers have shown that CMC is not necessarily a determination of playability; as long as the effect is worth the card, it will see play. The major thing that we are seeing is that for planeswalkers 4 or less, the - ability will typically determine its playability, while for planeswalkers 5 or more, the + ability will determine its playabilty. Now, there are exceptions, especially if the planeswalker is 4 or less and has a great + or 0 ability (Liliana of the Veil).

We sure need more sustained 40+ dollar cards in standard amirite?
My favorite standard season was when Caw Blade was at its peak, that deck cost about 50-75% of the price of most tier 1 legacy decks.
Planeswalkers have their place. I especially like that they drop in price after they they rotate.
A previous poster complained that they are sold for 40 when they are spoiled and new and then drop in price and arent used.

Well, I have played plenty of standard matches (and a few modern) where the other guy having a Domri Rade in play is quite scary, he is picking off my utility creatures and drawing extra cards and my wrath effects dont even get rid of him.
I love tamiyo and vraska and i think they are the best cards in their sets. Gideon 2 is quite frusrrating to play against, his loyalty counters get out of control fast! I havent seen much xenagos in play yet but his time in standard is just beginning. Ashiok may prove to be powerful as well, if a black wrath effect or blue wash out effect comes in the next set or 2 she could be very good.

Maybe if you play combo. Have you seen the prices of duals these days? Times that by 4 for each one you need and then add cards you can actually play (!) you've gone upwards into the 1-3k mark easily.
"If fetch lands are reprinted I really believe they will be in allied colors (aka Onslaught fetches). If the fetch lands are reprinted you better believe that we'll all be fetching up basics. This would lead me to believe that the set after THS may have a reprint as the temples can't be fetched but it's pure speculation." - posted 03/22/2014 proved correct during Khans spoiler season.
"The set releases for fall 2015 (Blood, Sweat and Tears) and fall 2016 (Lock, Stock and Barrel). One or both of those 2 blocks (I'm betting) are going to contain either Fetch reprints or (more likely) Filter reprints. Filter lands still need a reprint. They are getting pretty high up there and it's been longer than ZEN so it makes a little more sense that Filter lands would see print earlier that fetches." - posted 03/22/2014 proved incorrect about filters coming earlier than fetches, still pending on filters in Origins block.

I did like how that thought outside the box as far as planeswalkers are concerned. There haven't been too many oddball ones lately.

The only good thing about this post is the edible chocolate roaches they gave out! Mmm mmm!

At the time, that statement was more accurate than you think. Legacy hadn't fully exploded in price yet, underground sea was the only dual land to break $100. Jace, the Mind Sculptor was an easy 100, stoneforge mystic was 30, sword of feast and famine was 40, Batterskull was 25 putting the non land core cards of caw blade at over $600 which was pretty nuts.

Double-Faced Garruk was just two years ago, and was both double-sided and had a non-loyalty ability. I think they're intentionally using planeswalker design space very, very slowly so that they don't run out.
I'm not sure Kiora matches the hints very well. I wonder if perhaps it's hinting at some other card.
I take that back. I missed the reference to Explore (credit goes to Lanxal on that, really). And "vaporizing" presumably refers to Gaseous Form rather than getting rid of them...
It might be a reference to Gaseous Form. The connection is nebulous (I'm sorry I had to) but it's there.
I wouldn't be surprised. Before the spoil, I briefly thought it might be a reference to Aqueous Form, but that was just a little bit too much like Thassa, God of the Sea - and not something you'd do to your enemies.
If only those made it onto her ability list. She would be a 5 of in my standard "legacy elves" deck. yes 5. Maybe 4.
RIP Batman guy. I hope somebody picks up the slack now that you are gone. Sick children need their Batman.

Yeah, I still don't see anything green in the hint. Best prepare for a lot of shattered hopes and dreams.

Or, actually, just like they did with Nissa Revane, who was G/B in the original Duels. Ajani has also been W/G/R and W/G in Duels before.
Standard: W/R Aggro

And apparently 'vaporize' means turning an opposing permanent into a non-threat for a turn. Not a bounce, but people were on the right track.
