Everyone knows that good luck and good game are such insincere terms that any man who does not connect his right hook with the offender's jaw on the very utterance of such a phrase is no man I would consider as such.
nice to know
i m realy looking for BNG now.
the question is: are the dual gods from the same colors of the THS scry lands or the BNG scry lands or thet will all be on this set?
I'd imagine the tribal elements will definitely include minotaurs but that has nothing to do with modern. Maybe more merfolk? Fairies aren't a possibility, centaurs aren't a thing except in theros right?
There was also many cards on this expansion that are supposed to affect Modern or make it better / different (2 tribal creatures in special).
This is the part that intrigues me the most. Modern could use a nice dose of tribal decks to add some variety, but this statement seems too vague to really raise my hopes much. Definitely curious though.
Well, this is no surprise, but wasn't it "confirmed" (guess not!) that we'd be seeing a River of Tears reprint and cycle completion? le sigh. Scry lands. Meh.
We were told that the tribe that was getting the most focus would be minotaurs, so I'm interested in what else is going to be getting the spotlight.
maybe cats? we know there are leonins on theros but we haven't seen much of them in the first set, plus ajani is coming...

Faeries and Merfolk are the two biggest possibilities. Don't forget that Nymphs, Satyrs, and Seleni are often seen as the earliest form of Fae in the western world.
The tribal thing makes me skeptical being that in this block there are very few tribes that have enough existing support in Modern for there to be any difference. Humans are the only tribe native to Theros other than possibly Zombies that have had any previous real support. With that as it is, they'd have to put a LOT of really good Zombie or Human fodder in BNG.
If we're talking Modern tribal then it has to be Merfolk. Elementals is actually a possibility, but there were only two in Theros even though there was an elemental lord.
Other options include storyline twists, maybe something that messes with the underworld and causes more Returned?
In Theros there were 33 humans, 7 minotaur,7 centaurs, 7 satyr, 6 giants, 5 nymphs, 5 merfolk, 5 gods, 4 gorgons, 3 cats... It also has 13 soldiers (9 of them human)
Fairies are unlikely as they're not very Greco-Roman.
From that list, only Merfolk and Human have any established tribe.

Whenever a player would gain life, flip a coin. If heads, that player loses that much life instead. If tails sacrifice [card] and that player gains that life as per usual.
The tribal would have to be Merfolk and something. Human or Zombie are only ones that seem to make sense; I don't think a Giant or Minotaur card would rattle Modern.
If there were going to be Fae, we'd have seen them, I think.
I'm geeking out about the land arts. So Ephara is the god of trade basically (see Ephara's Warden and her pot stash), and Karametra is specifically agriculture. I'd say there's a good chance we see both with their lands. (Start stocking ramp stuff if Kara is coming :D)
"Demigods"? Lesser gods, or the enchantment creatures? Or something else? I'm eager to know more about those other arts! /vorthos

that's not what happened at all. kamahl stabbed phage, akroma, and some old lady and they became korona. then korona got stabbed by her "prophets" and kamahl got drunk with a mutant centaur
It's probably a long-shot, but the one card I can think of that's part of an existing tribe in modern and would have a significant impact on modern would be True-Name Nemesis. It's powerful but not unbeatable, it fits with other cards in Theros, and even in standard it won't warp the format as long as they print a board wipe or two in BNG (which I'm fairly confident they will given there is only Supreme Verdict and kinda Cyclonic Rift right now).
Some corrections for you guys to not be missleaded:
* When I said tribal i ment good for existing tribal interactions / decks in the format. And there are no tribal reprints from any set. I saw the description of 2 brand new cards that had that information. One was a blue merfolk. The other one a green creature that seemed like a human (horrendous art BTW but a great green creature according to the description).
* The scrylands were already confirmed but im giving you wich ones are IN. Thats new.
* The demigods that appear on the little art I saw do not match the scrylands. The izzet one is not listed and I saw Keranos doing a bolt like sorcery.
SOMETHING ELSE:
There is a lot of art of Therans messing up with statues that move or interact with them. Giant statues that take the Therans on the palm of their hands. Maybe demigods but is not clear.
Those pieces of art and the ones that show the returned in special are impresive.
The statues taking humans on their hands look like something out of Saint Seiya, and the new returned arts look really sinister and sad.
There was an art of a card that is supposed to be the one that is more important for the set in relation to constructed, and it shows a returned collecting bodies over a black lake, and the lake shows hands that are fighting to go back to the surface again.
There was also many cards on this expansion that are supposed to affect Modern or make it better / different (2 tribal creatures in special).
Which probably means they'll overshoot and impact legacy too. If they're tribally focused, then they might just be narrow enough to miss-out, but I doubt it.
The Selesnya one has some grass and animals on it.
The Azorius one has some merchants preparing to sale.
There was also some art depicting demigods doing spells and multicolored creatures too.
There was also many cards on this expansion that are supposed to affect Modern or make it better / different (2 tribal creatures in special).

Unless we're not talking tribal card type... then its a bit less exciting...
So, can we assume that the other scryland will be the BR one (the other ally-colored one) and that UR and BG are in Journey into Nyx?
This is the part that intrigues me the most. Modern could use a nice dose of tribal decks to add some variety, but this statement seems too vague to really raise my hopes much. Definitely curious though.

Sorry, being a huge Ravnica and story fan it's just that using Ravnica's guild names for every other set always annoyed me haha.
Tribes/Factions:
R/B = Minotaurs (+ some Returned/Zombies)
G/B = Gorgons
G/W = Setessa, Centaurs and Leonin
U (possibly U/R) = Triton/Merfolk
B (possibly B/U and some B/R) = Returned/Zombies
B/W = possibly Archons, undead along with humans
R/W = Akros
U/W = Meletis
G/R = Satyrs
Only tribe left would be something in green/blue which I think is either just humans or may include those evil centaurs.

Patch me back to my mind
Sounds good to me! I love tribal, though minotaurs don't really seem worthwhile as of now.
