Remember when Fat Packs came with paperback novels?
I enjoyed The Lost Confession in uncharted realms, hopefully the book will be just as good.
^This would be the only thing to ever get me to buy fatpacks again in their current state. For me all buying a fat pack does is make me pay more for the packs than if I were to just buy the packs.
It would be better if it included 2 boxes instead of one again too.
Love Jenna's short stories for Uncharted Realms, so I'll definitely be interested in if her longer works take on a different style or keep the same quality.
But I'm also really curious about the plot of this block, there's a lot of really cool characters, and a whole world that needs to be explored. Just the cards (and the Theriad) isn't enough. Theros is just rich with lore.
Also, this is about normal release schedule. It was the same for RTR, the ebook came out a month after the set-- long enough for us to get our hands on the cards and wonder about all the characters, settings, and flavor texts before diving into a book about them. They give us some time to see the stage be set and so it feels right.
oh snap! that comes out just in time... for me to have stopped caring about the story behind theros.
seriously i wish these things released with the first set of the block
My thoughts exactly, I do not understand this move of then to release the books before/after the second set of the block. Maybe it is because it is written by Jenna (and for Return to Ravnica's case, Doug Beyer), who has more functions within Creative other than writing a novel?
It would have been better if they included a hard copy of this in every fatpack, so people would have another incentive to buy them.
I like the "novella" format of Return to Ravnica (although I didn't like the story that much). Not everyone has the time and patience to read through 400 pages of a Fantasy Novel.

i too wish theyd do this again.
i also wish theyd incorporate the story a bit more into the cards like they use to. right now it feels like they build these fantastic worlds, introduce these exciting new characters... and then do nothing with them. at all. its a massive waste.

I'll spare the heartache for you:
"DID NOT SELL ENOUGH"
"COSTS A LOT TO DO"
"MARKET DATA"
Pick your poison.
Don't bother asking MaRo or Doug Beyer, those are the things they'll probably answer you anyway.

I fear I won't have much time to play Magic these days.
I get to watch worlds develop around me.
I get to watch great leaders, terrible oppressors, and trend setters rise and fall.
Limited, Standard, Modern, everything is a different playing field I feel I can observe, but will not actually touch.
I look forward to the stories I will hear.
And more so to the ones I will watch unfold first hand.
Isn't the unknown exciting?
They should at least include a card in the fatpack with a promo code to download the novella, I mean its only $2 and I would feel the tiniest bit better getting it that way.
Anybody who thinks the common removal in Theros is even a little like the common removal situation in AVR needs to go to magiccards.info or gatherer and pull up a list of the AVR commons. Take a couple minutes and scroll through it looking for removal. It makes Theros' common removal suite look like a lush and bountiful paradise where the trees are heavy with black kill spells and we can frolic all day chucking Searing Spears at each other.

That's... actually a pretty good idea.
Of course, I do wonder about the logistics involved behind the sales vs "free" numbers as it were.
But then again, there are also such massive issues involved with distribution that it causes a few other problems as well, I'm sure.

No detail is known at this moment, other than the book title and publishing date, which is April 1st Fools' Day.
Huh, I didn't know Jenna did a D&D book before.

How do we know this isn't one larger book to RTR's three smaller ones?

Twists in the story is as common as the continuity being riddled with end of the world scenarios.
If all else fails they can push the RETCON button, a move that even MaRo himself nods for in some way.

Wizards rarely knows when these things are going to release right up until they're completed and announced by the publisher.
