Well hopefully this mitigates the amount of marking up some places are doing. I know my store usually goes by SCG prices, and they have these decks at $50+.

I fear I won't have much time to play Magic these days.
I get to watch worlds develop around me.
I get to watch great leaders, terrible oppressors, and trend setters rise and fall.
Limited, Standard, Modern, everything is a different playing field I feel I can observe, but will not actually touch.
I look forward to the stories I will hear.
And more so to the ones I will watch unfold first hand.
Isn't the unknown exciting?
I don't understand LGS's that jack up the prices on stuff like this. Where I live (greater Birmingham, AL area) there are 5 different shops that service the area. If one of them has unreasonable prices you go to a different shop that has good prices. But they all generally have good prices to begin with to help keep their customers happy and coming back.
I could maybe understand it if there is only 1 shop in a huge area but still. Is this the one thing in the world that Alabama isn't super ****y about?
It is, however, running into supply issues on the initial print run. Which is actually normal for major releases like RTR/Innistrad. Theros, thankfully, has not had them. This just means that if you need singles in the short term (like, say, for GP: DC), you'll be paying a premium for them.
The Mind Seize deck is currently at 40 € in magiccardmarket, where the others sit at 20~23 € range. The best we can do is punish online purchasing sites and LGS which are hoarding the decks and inflating the price of the decks with the most goodies (in this case the Grixis one) by purchasing them at Walmart, similar stores or honest LGS. Not buying only the overpriced one, but all of them, will make them lose a significant amount of money if we all abide to the rule of buying them at te MSRP price, no more, no less, from honest LGS or other shops. I'm starting to get tired of SCG, MKM and LGS being greedy and speculating to the point that the prices double the original MSRP in order to bleed us some extra cash. So please, even if you can afford a deck at double the MSRP cost, don't be a jerk to the rest of us who can't or aren't willing to pay that price. If you're willing to pay that much for those goodies you can even purchase twice the same deck at a honest place.
This proves two things. One: I'll be picking one up, and two: the Wizards marketing department might actually know what they're doing.... I'm happy.

I lived in AL for 20 years... I've lived in LA for 7.
As much as I'd like to say LA is better in every way, I can't.
Birmingham has a lot going for it that you may not appreciate just yet.

Yeah thanks for clarifying this. I don't know why people believed that it was limited in the first place...
A marketing tactic to scare people into thinking they will be scarce, so people will pre-order them from LGS sites and pay their jacked up prices. Just get them at Wal-Mart or Target.

Planechase wasn't limited either...
This set will likely be printed more than the last set of commander decks, as they not know what they are dealing with RE: Demand.

if you pay higher than msrp for these at an LGS instead of telling your LGS owner that you can simply walk into target/walmart and buy one for msrp.... you might just need your head checked...
keep your business local IMO, but not if they are this dumb

Duel decks, Planechase, Archenemy and the original Commander decks were all sold in those stores.
Duel decks, Planechase, Archenemy and the original Commander decks were all sold above msrp at LGS's, depending on the contents of the decks. (Elspeth, Knight Errant, Scavenging Ooze, 2 Baleful Strix)
Nothing is different with this release, nothing will change. Magic players will scoop up every commander deck they can find at a Target or Walmart, just as before.

I get your frustration, believe me - but there's a flipside to this argument. If one store decides to always ask for MSRP, especially on stuff that goes up by a lot (for example the previous Commander decks), then they become targets for other stores that choose not to play by the same rules. The other stores get the product (not the customer), and can then drive prices up due to a manufactured scarcity (since one or more of their competitors don't have more of the product). A similar thing happens with speculators on eBay.
I don't have any real idea how this problem can be fixed, except for a change in consumer behavior which isn't likely to happen any time soon.

It depends on a lot of factors, but I know where I am that the main thing is the store owner enjoys Magic as well. (Opened it as a Sports Card shop that sold Magic on the side and someone taught him, now he plays in all the tournaments and even goes to some GPs.) He will mark it up slightly if it is limited print run (MMA was $11 a pack or 175 then 200 a box) but sells singles below TCG so for the most part we don't have that horrible mark up that some people see.
Red should be burn, Goblins, Dragons, draw/discard, and Standard-unplayable 5CMC cards with insane, lengthy effects that take 10 minutes to figure out what they do and another 20 to actually make their effects work on the field.
I mean, it's cheaper than buying a P3K Strategic Planning, and it works exactly the same in a deck... these decks are stacked and stores know some people would rather pay more than wait. That said, the LGS I'm associated with has got them at MSRP plus tax for pre-order.
This isn't really news, is it? I thought everyone knew that. There will be 3 shipments before the end of the year (which will be allocated, but not that heavily), and it will remain in print for 8 months.
