Probably. They don't take rarity into account when choosing reprints in the sense of 'each deck must have the same number of rares or mythics'.
Ah, thanks. I was under the assumption that Wizards kept card rarities uniform. That's the way they did it for intro decks, and I think the previous Commander decks as well.
There's going to be a sealed deck tournament im my LGS with these decks, I bought Grixis and Bant, what of those 2 you think I should use for the tourny?
Having opened all five of these,
I can't help but wonder if they were even *trying* to sell the Nature of the Beast (Naya) deck.
It does have one of the least valuable decklists,
but it's still got good value.

Grixis is going for $60-$80 in mexico, a real shame for those who don't want the damn fish.
Oloro is really nice, played it out of the box and it beat two of my funny decks and one of my competitive decks (Skullbriar). These are much better designed than 2011.

Yes sir, I take fantasy art and character design commissions, PM me for rates.
I sincerest doubt that Bant is the strongest deck, but it certainly is one of the most interactive decks. It has a lot of rather bad creatures but makes up for it with Anthem-effects and speed.
I'd shoot my money at Esper or Grixis for decks I'd expect to be strong. Esper entirely due to Oloro and his CA. Grixis because they got a few better cards comparable to Esper's decklist and their most obvious win-con is sitting back and let people burn over time, not a direct threat and politically he hits all opponents so most would not bother to retaliate. I can imagine Grixis has a hard time sealing the game in an instant as most of their creatures and spells are defensive/utility.
Jund seems like an overall strong combo-deck with a lot of synergy so it may be more powerful than Grixis if it gets to a point where it can combo a lot.
Naya is just a large gathering of dumb fat beaters, an obvious threat that people politically would want to monitor and keep in check.
However all this is deducted that we're playing multiplayer, so 3+.
If we look at 1on1 I'd agree that Bant looks like one of the stronger decks, if not the strongest.
Picked up a Band deck for MSRP. I appreciated the smaller packaging this time so less cardboard to toss. As others have mentioned, tokens would have been nice.
That's really disappointing. This was the perfect opportunity to print some tokens that the community has been clamoring for. Especially Kobolds, seeing as they're produced by the flagship card of the Jund deck.
Yea, seems wizards forget that Commander players love their tokens. They've done it for Modern Masters, and even Duel Decks. So why not an annual product like this.
Having purchased all 5 of the last round of Commander decks and all 5 of this round, I do think that these are better designed decks. They play well straight out of the box.
I, like many others, have to voice my two complaints.
Inlcude the tokens in the decks.
Make it so the box the decks come in can actually be used when all 100 cards are sleeved.
That still doesn't work, unless you are using penny sleeves. For any kind of sturdy sleeves (ultra pro, dragon shield, KMC, you name it) the cards are still too big.
The box design is nifty, but not well thought out. It's clearly not designed to store your deck for any extended period, but rather to display the deck when it is still new.
Hey maybe you guys can help me out. I REALLY want one (two at the most) of these, but cant decide which ones! I dont really care about card value, just which ones are fun to pilot and have fun cards. Obviously this is dependent on what you call fun, but in general how are these decks stacking up compared to each other? The top contenders for me right now are:
Mind Seize RUB (so many good instants and sorceries, alt art starstorm and cruel ultimatum!, my favorite shard, but the only general Id care about is Thrax) plus I can trade the money cards for fun stuff
and Eternal Life one or whatever WUB I want a new artifact general cause I got sick of Arcum Daggson really fast, nevinyarls disc, cool sphinxes, toxic deluge and other good artifact stuff (dont care about the oloro sire)
And in third is evasive maneuvers GWU, but thats mostly for derevi, control magic and some other cool reprints, I already have most of the blinking stuff (would totally take the deck apart and use the parts).
Should I just get one and get singles of cool stuff from the others, or go for broke and grab 2-3 of these? Or do you thuink the 5pack is worth it?

Those are ultra pro sleeves. They stick up a bit with the lid off, but the lid goes on just fine and stays on.
I didn't initially understand TNN's ability, I thought you would still be able to block it, and that it was more like hexproof. I still wanted the grixis deck more than any of the others. Now it's unlikely I'll ever find any of them at an MSRP retailer. I really think the pricing/chase card of these was a complete disaster.

Those are ultra pro sleeves. They stick up a bit with the lid off, but the lid goes on just fine and stays on.
Since the cards stick up a bit and they're angled in the box it looks like the lid could damage the sleeves/cards if it's smushed down? I can think of two ways to fix it with some arts & crafts time, maybe I'll give it a shot later (sooo many things on my To Do list right now).
With some minor adjustments they could make a nice box that both displays the sealed deck and stores sleeved cards properly. The removeable insert is a great idea, now just make it so the box dimensions hold and protect 100 sleeved cards completely. If that extra few centimeters makes the overall display box too big then (IMO) a flat foldable box that holds 100 sleeved cards is better than a pre-folded box that doesn't. I'd much prefer it if those deck boxes in the Duel Decks sets held sleeved cards.
Some people have suggested their contract with Ultra Pro doesn't allow for this, which is an interesting theory. WOTC gives us DD deck boxes for unsleeved cards, Ultra Pro sells licensed DD deck boxes for sleeved cards. We've been complaining about this for years, it's an explanation that at least makes sense.

Ended up going with Mind Seize I love it! Havent changed it up at all yet. I like to play with it a little bit before I change it to really see how 'bad' cards like hooded horror perform before just going with my gut.
Anyway, I really like Jeleva, Nephalia's scourge more than I thought I would as a commander. I mostly just wanted Thrax and Nekusar, but she is actually really fun even if not crazy powerful. Also I like that she is flexible and random at the same time, so it plays really differently every casting of every game. Will probably keep her as commander and build arround her.

It does have one of the least valuable decklists,

However, for some reason, the five cards advertised on the packaging are:
From the Ashes (fine so far...)
Gahiji, Honored One (a given since he's the secondary, but still rather yawnworthy)
Mayael the Anima (ditto, tertiary)
Sol Ring (yes, one of the cards in *every single deck*)
Terra Ravager (a freaking uncommon that's in three of the decks)
Seriously?
No Avenger of Zendikar? Tempt with Discovery? Mystic Barrier? Eternal Dragon? Wrath of God?
I very much think this deck will be the one stores are discounting to get rid of,
and the packaging designer bears much of the blame for that.
Reprint Stasis!
Control needs more love.
