Has anyone done a list of 'I'd like to see this character as a Walker?' I think that'd be more interesting - would certainly be a worthy Create The Card event.
I'd love to see Serra as a Walker - but there would have to be a serious hunt for artwork that would be worthy...
Unfortunatly, they have said they aren't doing dead walkers anymore. Urza needs a better card to live through then blind seer.
I figure the biggest issues is that the A-plot already had a green walker tracking a black walker, and they didn't want the B-plot doing the same thing.
didn't sorin appearance on Innistrad happened before Zendikar and RoE plot?
I dunno about you guys, but I kinda can't focus on Sorin when all his cards kinda suck. Go ahead and make the single most powerful vampire in the history of ever (beats Bram Stoker's Dracula and Hellsing's Alucard by a longshot), and give him no screen time.
The vampires of Innistrad are actually quite fragile compared with other, more modern vampires. I was reading the Planeswalker's Guide to Innistrad only last night and they can actually be killed with non-holy weapons. They can fly and do other things, but if you have the ability to lay hits on them, they're not very resilient. And when they die, they stay dead - there's none of this "I'll just pour some blood on this pile of ashes and they'll come back to life like Frosty the Bloodsucking Snowman" business.

I fear I won't have much time to play Magic these days.
I get to watch worlds develop around me.
I get to watch great leaders, terrible oppressors, and trend setters rise and fall.
Limited, Standard, Modern, everything is a different playing field I feel I can observe, but will not actually touch.
I look forward to the stories I will hear.
And more so to the ones I will watch unfold first hand.
Isn't the unknown exciting?
I hope they keep just making one-liner planeswalkers like Xenagos and Ashiok and Thibalt--much more fun than variations of the big five every year. Also because I don't read the novels, I couldn't care less about continuity, so why or why not bring someone back means nothing.
Don't even group Tibalt in with big guys like Ashiok and Xenagos. Tibalt is in a league of his own, and it's not a good one to be in. I mean, for crying out loud, even Ajani is better than Tibalt.
I would much rather have a medium size cast of rotating planeswalkers than the small cast of rotating planeswalkers and a bunch of one shots we have now.
We also need less completely human planeswalkers. Where are my goblin, fae, centaur, beeble, and demon planeswalkers?

I don't tend to play a lot of planeswalkers in general, so what they do doesn't matter that much. I do, however, enjoy collecting them, and I also enjoy the one-off planeswalkers in addition to the big ones.
I don't like the constant remakes of Jace, however.

We have had 4 versions of Jaces and 4 versions of Chandras
We have had 4 versions of Jaces and 4 versions of Chandras
Why does no one complain about Chandra?
I don't like that either, but this conversation was specifically about Jace, so that was the only one I mentioned. But if I had to pin down a reason... A thing for red-heads? Heh. I dunno. It's like Liliana. She's my favorite planeswalker, but I don't like them constantly remaking her either. I get why they do it, same with all of the ones they remake, the main ones as far as story-reasons go, but I do enjoy seeing more new ones in the mix as well.

Character power =/= card power.
And as we've seen, a card is put a small glimpse of what a character is capable of.
Chandra, Pyromaster depicts the same character as Chandra Ablaze.
One of these is seeing play across multiple formats, the other is a bulk rare.

Fair enough
In the Innistrad block we got 2 new planeswalkers (Tibalt and Tamiyo) out of 5 (Garruk, Liliana, Sorin + 2 new ones)
In the RtR block we got 3 new faces (Vraska, Domri and Ral Zarek) out of the 5 (Jace and Gideon + 3 new ones)
In Theros we got 2 new face (Ashio and Xenagos) out of the three (Elspeth + 2 new ones)
I think they've been more than fine at introducing new ones honestly

Oh, most certainly, and I wasn't suggesting they weren't. My initial comment was more or less about enjoying seeing the new ones and collecting them, but being less concerned about their abilities unless I see one that I really want to play in a deck. I tend to play more budget if I am not playing EDH, and most Planeswalkers, certainly when they first come out, are anything but. My comment about Jace was just to keep it on topic.
I am interested to see even more come out, and I really like the multi-colored ones.

Tibalt, no matter how much they reprint him in future, isn't going to win any awards or garner any use. You just can't have a two mana walker have an immediate impact on the board or be good at all. It would be too broken. So they're stuck - they can't make him any good because if he was any good everyone would use him, and we can't have that when we just spent an entire Core development making Chandra look pretty.
He has a burn ability, but it's conditional. He doesn't gain you card advantage - his +1 isn't even a Wild Guess, for goodness sakes. And his ultimate (which will never go off, given that he could be taken out by a Shock when he hits the board) is a board-wide Act of Treason. He's not good, at all. He fails at everything he does. He can't do burn as good as Chandra, he can't do card-draw like Jace, and an ult that steals your opponent's creatures is more suited to B/R or Grixis control.

Thoctar was talking about different versions of the same Planeswalker. Nothing dictates that future versions of Tibalt have to be two mana.
@above: A Shock can't take him out, he will go to 3 loyalty before the opponent gains priority.
I agree his last -6 ultimate is bad, because its that kind of ability thats no longer good when you see it coming from miles away. Thats why I guess there never was an Act of Treason effect on a planeswalker.
Sarkhan Vol actually had an AoT effect as well, but since he also had a very edible +1 and a RIDICULOUS ult it probably made no difference.

Things they can do with the reserved list include changing color, mana cost, or ability. They could make a New version of Baron Sengir and just change "+2/+2 counter" to "two +1/+1 counters" and it would be okay.
