Because Karn, Silver Golem wasn't already just a sweet a stack of ridiculous interactions...we not only give him colors, we give him the best combination of colors in EDH. I'm scared.
The Diviner Spirit actually doesn't seem as bad as many people are making it. I'd look at it more as a targeted howling mine that does damage. How often are people actually going to block it? Even if there is some resistance, it just takes a bit of convincing. It could find a place in a Kami of the Crescent Moon deck or other control mono blue decks.
Huh? I don't get it. training grounds doesn't affect any of the spoiled cards.
sydri will be like Teysa - a reasonable general, who has one combo that defines whether the deck is casual or competitive. In Teysa's case, darkest hour, in Sydri's case, mycosynth lattice.
If you turn a noncreature artifact into an artifact creature it falls into the realm of Training Grounds influence, allowing Grounds to reduce the cost of it's activated abilities.

I don't see any green mana symbols on her anywhere. I think you may wish to retract your statement.
A couple of things, am I the only one that finds the art on Diviner Spirit abnormally creepy? Also, I'm not sure how Surveyor's Scope is going to be, but I would like to test it. Hopefully it is in one of the non-green Commander decks.
Any ways, Sydri is one of my favourite cards revealed so far, with Nekusar beating her only slightly. She's really tempting to make an Esper artifact deck with, but I'm going to wait until all the other Legends are spoiled before making any hasty moves. Actually, I'm really liking late-game what can be done with her in-conjunction with the new Djinn of Infinite Deceits trading away you small mana rocks for your opponents best creature seems like fun to me.

Nope. I meant what I wrote. Green might be better than white in whats more overall playable in EDH, but If i'm already playing a no shenanigan blue/ black deck, I'd rather have white over green. Maybe it's just me, but I've always found It's harder to break through an Esper deck than an Ana deck. Both are damn good color combinations, I just feel white supports those colors better than green does.
I agree. We should all only play g/x decks because they are the most objectively fun and anyone who disagrees does not know the truth about EDH. Everyone should just play their decks because interaction beyond high fiving about how many land are in play is unfun and equivalent to casting Stasis while kicking puppies. I for one will never play with anyone who casts tutors, removal spells, blue cards, things I arbitrarily decide I don't like but will probably cast myself later.
i like the turning non creature artifacts into creature effects because they screw over Voltron / equipster so efficiently. even if there only playing greaves or darksteel plate. o and the card art . so amazing
Dross Scorpion seems to be absolutely bonkers with Sydri. Also, I kinda want a foil Sydri, for the look of utter disdain on her face. Another Nielsen home run.
How is it bonkers?

This is not how bans/unbans work. Its always the enabler that gets the ban, not the card that is being abused. If you would have Yawgmoths will + whatever cards - it would be Yawgs that would be banned. If you would have Stoneforge and batterskull - it would be stone who would be banned and that is exactly how it works. Furthermore, banning a card in order to unban a different card is a thought process that was and wont be never applied in practical means.
Seat of the Synod + Sydri + Dross Scorpion + Mycosynth Lattice
Had to be said.
@paagrio: You turn enemy lands into artifact creatures as 0/0 with Seat of the Synod's mana. The land dies to state-based effects and Dross Scorpion untaps Seat. Rinse repeat for total land-control.
It's going to be interesting to see how Karn, Silver Golem commander decks will fare now that they have access to Esper colors.
Actually that's exactly the reason why I think this Girl is more powerful than Sharum, in terms of combo potential at least (not resilience-wise of course).
Karn has a Ghave-like tendency to just go ape-s**t if you just run enough artifacts unto the field. I just read Karn but cheaper and with access to everything artifact related except Welder. Really cool card.

You don't need Seat of the Synod because Lattice makes any mana any color you want it to be. So you can do the same combo with a Soul Ring for twice the profit/some ramping.
How about animating Staff of Nin and giving it deathtouch. Anyone?

I have divined your fate. You shall find your nemesis, a catastrophic clash. Devastation, misery for all, the unleashing of horrible curses and ferocious powers. Ruin, such ruin that I dream each night of blessed peace, assured that the universe is in balance once more...
I think its horrible, a symmetrical cold eye selkie? We get it wizards, you want us to play some sort of huggy deck.
Its not even playable with the Mindrazer, its just horrible.
If you swing Selkie at someone... they won't let it through.
If you make a deal with someone to let it through, yes they draw cards, but if you're allied with them, you've hurt an ally in a way they would ASK FOR. So when you have to betray them they're down a bit more life.
Not every political card is a group hug card. It's a necessary evil of a format designed explicitly for multiplayer.
Sydri looks interesting. I wouldn't replace Sharuum but I would play it in Sharuum. The artwork is amazing and I would love a foil of it. Am I the only person who doesn't feel guilty about playing Sharuum?
The "enchant player" and "protection from player" stuff is coming across VERY forced and awkward. There's a reason it hasn't really been done much before..... cuz it's dumb.
I think I'm the only one who's underwhelmed by Scope. Just think about how hard it can be to trigger things like Land Tax or Weathered Wayferer. Now double that difficulty. Welcome to Surveyor's Scope.
The "two more" clause is ****ing brutal, IMHO. Like, it's a sort of "lose less" card that tries to bring you back from an otherwise unrecoverable disadvantage. Too narrow.
And those G/x ramp or MLD scenarios? Eh.
Ramp: That's one guy, not the table. So... have fun with your overcosted Wayfarer's Bauble.
MLD: Some people run it without any means of profiting off it, so there's no guarantee anyone will be two lands ahead of you after it hits.
Now, I'll grant that the dream scenario is sweet. And the card isn't unplayable. I just think it was nerfed beyond a point of being really sexy good. On average, I see it being a colorless Explosive Vegetation (or worse). Mediocre to good, but not insane.
There's better (i.e. more consistent/reliable) ramp cards in all colors, and better cards that punish your opponent's ramp/MLD/etc. strategies. I'll keep using those for now.

Useless is an understatement. The amount of group hug is almost sickening in this set.
