Printing a powered down doubling season just means that doubling seasons cost will continue to reach up and up and up in the very format this was supposed to aim at. Yeah, a cheaper alternative for casual, but nobodies going to want anything but the real deal. Well, copies 5-8 (copy #2 edh), which just makes it more reliable, and thus more in demand, and higher priced. And being both symmetrical *and* combo-unfriendly / planeswalker hating is quite a difference in power level.
... I don't get it. Why not just a functional reprint of Doubling Season?
Planeswalkers basically just ulti off the bat when doubling season's on the board and players think that their +X abilities add double the counters when they don't. This fixes both problems by just eliminating all interactions with the card type entirely.
Have a helicopter drop you off out front. Light your cigar with a small Indonesian boy holding a black lotus. Then bust out a craw wurm deck with no sleeves. Raw dog shuffle, loose terribly, flip the table, leave in a hovercraft.
You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.
They seem to be pushing rather heavily about the "politics" side of EDH. Having this out while spamming Phelddagrif as your general is going to be annoying.

To the people that say that a card needs to be a higher rarity because of Limited... I hate you guys so much. I present to you with this.
Honestly, I get that they wanted to fix the planeswalker thing, but they could have at least made it work only with your stuff. Or maybe made it cost 2GG instead of 4G. I mean this is literally 100% strictly worse, even if you don't factor the planeswalker thing. Kind of annoying, still pretty good though.
I'm happy about this, but I don't like that they made it worse than doubling season. I wish they had just fixed the planeswalker part and kept it nonglobal.
Still, a couple of my casual decks are very happy about this.

I guess the fact it effects everyone doesn't matter since you don't play doubling season in every green deck....just most.

Because Planeswalkers were never meant to interact with Doubling Season.
OT: I like it. Budget Doubling Season makes players without much money happy, and for those with a little more to spend, you can pile on the love.

Is that English?
Shouldn't it say "Twice AS many'' or "twice that amount"?
Just sounds weird.
