Oh, I bet this answers the hint MaRo gave about a 5/5 green creature that can be cast for :symg::symg:. Since this is a 5/5 for :2mana::symu:, I guess we can expect undercosted fatties for all the colors.
I love the design of this so much. If ever a mechanic felt like it was bringing the game to life for me this would be it; the way the gods manifest through devotion is genius imho.
Yes it still reeks of the design masturbation complaint many people have been saying, but keep in mind there are some not so minor differences, like the properties of the card in non-battlefield zones: It can be tutored as a creature card, for example.
Yeah - I definitely agree that the wording on this card, while being kind of weird and confusing, mirrors the wording on bestow card that's been revealed (and the design intent).
If their intent is that the card be a creature while it's a card and while cast (e.g. essence scatter works on it), then this is how it could be done, though it does lead to less smooth wording.
Given that this card being spoiled predated the spoiling of Devotion as a mechanic, the likelihood of it being fake is lower.

Slingin' cardboard out of Yokohama, Japan. (if you're local and play EDH or want to test competitive, drop me a line!)
So the mill mods have been discussing this, and we're having trouble deciding. We did a couple mock-ups, and well, things don't look good if they keep the reminder text. And if Scry gets reminder...
The gods are only "alive" when they have enough devotion. However, their essence is strong enough to allow their abilities to still function even without that devotion.
Wow. I just love that. That is fantastic design right there.
I wholly agree Necro. The whole idea that the gods can still influence their peeps while being "present" is fantastic. It's the exact same way the Greek gods "existed"; They would be omnipresent in thought, but their 'hood was where they were devoted to, BECAUSE their people were devoted to them.
Good design Wizards, and whoever came up with the Gods.
Also, it has to be worded as a Legendary Enchantment Creature so it's playable as a Commander, which is cool, because they're sweet as enchantments, and probably sweet as undercosted-big-honkin' 5/5s with abilities.
While it would be awesome design if true, it's probably just a good guess
The main reason I'm sceptical is a) because it's 4chan and you need to take what you read with a grain of salt, b) because the card has scry on it and if it is on this card that means scry will be making a big return because why would they put it on one card, and it's not likely wizards are bringing scry back, and c) because it's absurdly powerful
Excuse me, but we aren't 4chan, we're \TG\ and we get **** done.

I actually like the third one. Is that wrong of me?

are those the regular card frames or are they mockups of the new godncard frames that were shown at SDCC (i think they showed the black one)
The fact this rumor predates the confirmation of devotion mechanic and the design of the suggested card is genius on so many levels, makes me believe this Thassa is a legitimate card.
A little, but not enough. Without the epithet, it's still 11 lines (assuming scry doesn't have reminder text).
Since Thassa is a Mythic Rare, is it possible (assuming this version of her is accurate, of course) that her card omits the reminder text for Devotion?
For that matter, if we assume Scry is the missing 5th mechanic, then it might also be lacking reminder text on Thassa.
On the other hand, what does Thassa look like if Scry isn't keyworded (i.e. if she only effectively has "Scry 1", and is instead spelled out)?

I vote it as being highly likely that that Thassa is legit, as WotC will snip out reminder text if need be, thus removing the only real objection to the card's legitimacy.
I realise that when they were designing Theros, they wouldn't have had much time, if any, to react to the response of Innistrad; but man, I feel that both 'Bestow' and Devotion (as it relates to the gods, at least), would have been so much more elegant with double-faced cards.
These uses of the mechanics, while flavourful, feel surprisingly clunky :S.

Yeah, I wasn't too concerned about her title...
This is what has us in a quandary. The timing makes it look real, but the mock-ups look bad with how it squishes the text.
Those are regular MSE frames.

It has a nice card filtering ability,
and it turns into a finisher if it lives a while.
Interesting how it's arguably worse as a creature.

Trostani, Geist of St. Traft, Army of the Damned, and Bonfire of the Damned all suggest that they aim to keep reminder texts.
As for removing scry, that removes basically five words: "scry 1. (To scry 1,"
It really requires no reminder text at all. Epithet can stay or go in that case. That or Wizards to be fine with 11 lines of micro-text.

The god design here is very interesting and I would be disappointed if they are revealed to not work this way.
Yeah. They work for Chroma.

And Jace Architect of Thought, too, if he wasn't before.
Early game relevant enchantment that builds up to a big creature once you've reached enough devotion.
The gods will actually see play and be relevant through all stages of play - not just big splashy finishers. Perfect!
