We had a mod confirm this, he's never been wrong, at least he hasn't since i've been looking at spoilers on here.

Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
If MTG is a part of your life, the formats are like relationships:
Standard/Block = The on-again, off-again holiday fling
Modern/Vintage/Legacy = Stable, homely. A ***** after absence/misreading
Limited/Sealed = Heart breaking free spirit
Commander/Cube = Agreeable, needy and expensive
Pauper/Peasant = Sweet, kind, practical, but shy and boring
Even if you were running something along the lines of:
turn one: U
turn two: UU
turn three: This card.
That is only 4 mana symbols. You would have to be able to ramp somehow.
Legacy and Modern Merfolk can hit 5 blue mana symbols by turn 3 with Aether Vial.
I can just see the look on an opponent's face. One Cursecatcher, one Mutavault, two Master of the Pearl Trident, and Thassa by turn 3.
Say what you will but an indestructible 5/5 that gives you a scry 1 every upkeep and gives one of the best evasion for itself (but mostly other creatures) by turn 3 is ridonkulous. Outside or board wipes and O-ring, nobody's getting rid of this God (and probably other God cards).
Like others have said... even if Thassa never becomes a creature, her presence is Bob-like. You're not drawing an extra card but you're getting rid of what you don't want every turn... and for 1U you're giving one of the better evasions in the game to a creature until end of turn. And almost nothing can get rid of this Enchantment.
I thought of that, but I'm pretty sure he said 5/5 green snake, which doesn't fit. Probably still a devotion card, though.
Thassa is pretty ridiculous. I'm not a great player, but a 3 cmc indestructible scry enchantment seems constructed playable to me, even if she never becomes a 5/5 creature (ceases being not a 5/5 creature?).
Wonder what the other gods do. My money is on the white god being an anthem, but I have no idea for the other gods.
Yea, forgot about the snake part, but devotion does seem to fit, maybe he costs 4gg and with devotion of five he costs gg, something like that...
I can see this as being a pretty strong tempo card in a UB shell. How does Thassa's scry interact with duskmantle seer and his ability? Another creature to keep in mind when considering devotion isnightveil specter.
Since they're both "beginning of your upkeep", you can choose which one happens first. I definitely plan on dropping a couple of copies of her into my Duskmantle Seer deck since stuff like Augur of Bolas is rotating out
I think you'll see this played a lot in Faeries (this loves Vendilion Clique) and Merfolk (lots of UU creatures). It will also be a good finisher for mono blue control decks (which I'd love to see more of).
Ah, I wasn't playing MtG at the time Chroma was a thing. It only counts the casting costs not activations costs. Too bad. It would have been cool if all you needed was the god and her artifact. Can't wait to see more Scry (and what colors Scry is in)! This set looks sweet so far.
So I guess the 5/5 for gg that maro hinted about could be the green god, don't know if this has already been mentioned, but it seems right to me. It would normally be an enchantment for gg, but if the devotion is online, it's a 5/5 for gg, what do you guys think?
Really doubt it. He said it was a giant snake; the green god is an Artemis-style huntress (we've seen a couple of pictures of her). It's most likely A) A monstrous creature that becomes a 5/5 after you use monstrous B) A devotion based creature that uses devotion to reduce its casting cost or C) a bestow creature that bestows a smaller value than if it's a creature (maybe a 2/2 uncommon that gets +3/+3 if it isn't an Aura with something like a 5 mana straight cast cost)
I will pray to the 5 gods for that Eberus will be a "underworld dream" with an "sign in blood" activate ability, I do not matter the devotion restriction
No. Trait Doctoring just changes the color of the card or color-text descriptions. It doesn't mean that the card's mana costs will actually contain blue mana symbols...
Trait Doctoring is still the worst card in Dragon's Maze and is still unplayable.
Doubtful (and by that I mean it's NOT happening), since after the turn that you cast Trait Doctoring, you would only get to change the devotion color AFTER your attack phase. And that's assuming you'd even hit with the cyphered creature. A good mechanic doesn't make a bad card suddenly good, sadly

he means using it to turn off devotion for a turn by making thassa use devotion to white instead of blue.
Am I the only one who sees this card as fairly bad since it requires other Permanents on board to work properly?
I can't think of many cards that were competitive that could be shut off by simple removal (ie, destroying a blue creature to bring down your devotion and shut off Thassa).
Also, to the people saying it could or should be an enchantment to start and become a creature:that means you wouldn't be able to use it as a general. That's kinda big.
A 5/5 indestructible for 2U would be broken, even with the devotion restriction... This plus the other abilities.... Actually a 5/5 indestructible with any CMC is OP
Hmm, thinking she might be a decent include in Lazav afterall. The scrying plays nice with Bob, and her ability to make dudes unblockable plays with one of my deck's subthemes.

Probably?
First, it might be "shut off" as a creature in the highly conditional scenario you bring up (player A has enough devotion to turn her on and player B has the right kind of removal to take player A's devotion down), but it still scrys and it still gets your creatures in....and then from there, your opponent has to worry about facing down a 5/5 indestructible creature every time you play a permanent.
Secondly, think of this as a card that's akin to Sylvan Library, but is balanced enough to be printed in 2013, is in a more appropriate color, and it fits perfectly into it's color's deck achetypes.
As for the value of it, it won't be the next "Voice of $$$$" as someone else called it. Compare this to Bitterblossom. When it evened out, I'm pretty sure Bitterblossom floated around $20-$25...and that was when faeries ruled the format. It is similar in that it can be a finisher, and once played just helps control relax a little, and gives some form of virtual advantage to its controller, but it is nowhere near as good.
Dopey green creatures should not be able to outrace gods. It would be more appropriate if the gods were comparable in size to the Eldrazi. But they should be able to outrace commons at the very least.
"Judge me by my size do you?" Yoda.
I think Thassa will see play 1U: target creature is unblockable is certainly breakable. Not to mention a 4 turn clock if you can keep her active, and scry 1 as a cherry on top.

The snake has Bestow for GG. Maro said you could cast it for GG, and bestow is an alternate cast.

That's clever. Really clever. I like that.

It does seem to be where Trait Doctoring was meant to see play.
