For all of you who are talking about the next set being a possibility of a Mongolian set Maro said that Theros and Innastraud with both "top down" sets aka theme sets like horror, or Greek and he said that the next set is bottom up like RtR was (mechanics first, flavor second). Now that doesn't mean it can't be Mongolian but chances are they would save that flavor for a top down set.
I doubt that. There is not enough flavour for a top down Mongolian set. Kamigawa failed, because it was too close to actual Japanese mythology/religion/culture. People were expecting more of a popcultural idea of Japan. Almost nobody knows anything about Mongolian culture and they are mainly absent in popculture, which means you can't create a set around it.
Sure you can, it just won't be top down.
Naya was heavily Mayincatec, but it wasn't top down, so it worked.
What are you considering the "main" theme? Mechanically, Innistrad was a tribal block until Avacyn Restored.
But the theme was gothic horror. The tribal mechanic just lent itself very well because you have all these monsters that become even "scarier" when their lord shows up. Also, zombie assault just works better than random collection of black creature types assault.
Wizards print good rares, players complain about cash grab. They print underwhelming rares, players complain that the cards suck. They spoil the best cards first, players complain about the insane prices of preorders. They spoil the meh cards first, players complain that this is the worst set ever.
So. I think I understand now.
As far as these forums are concerned, WotC can never do anything good because:
Card that is new and probably good = "pushed"
Card that is new and probably bad = "EDH/casual fodder"
Card that is a reprint = "lazy"
Card that is a better version of an older card = "power creep"
Card that is a weaker version of an older card = "worthless"

Sarkhan Vol? Warlords? Mongolian? *cough* Kharasha Foothills. And hey, look, there's a totally minotaur-looking guy there. 100% confirmed 2014 is minotaur warlord tribal set on Mongseng.
That would only work if Wizards wasn't naming the first set after the plane its on. Since that's highly unlikely, the plane is called Khanar. So it won't on Mongseng.
Sarkhans home plane? Maybe.

don't hope for it. greek themed block immediatly reminded the plane Arkhos, but wotc said "screw that, let's just create a new plane, we'll just keep the final os". mongseng (and every other future sight/planechase plane) will suffer the same fate
Why would they do such mean things to us? Argh! I wished for those Planechase cards to become real planes, not just a wooden boy! Dammit Wizardshupetto.
Okay, everyone needs to get the tribal thing straight. Here are the facts:
Tribal is done for now. Wizards said that it's no Fun to play a deck full of lords and no strategy. So, wizards wants to separate tribal from becoming the key focus on a block. However, Wizards doesn't want to eliminate tribal. Tribal still exists, it's just not as pushed and it's not as obvious. Innistrad is a perfect example. There was a lot of tribal but it wasn't the main focus of the set, just another component.
With that being said, there will likely be tribes, but at the same time it won't be the key focus of the set.

I don't think they ever said the former. Tribal will be a subtheme to various degrees, and Lords will still come and go, so I don't think they have any issue with Tribal decks. They just don't want it to be the main theme for a block very often.

Which is why they just made minotaur tribal a thing in limited?
They don't like tribal centric blocks because they're complicated and force strategies in limited, it's fine if they're a subtheme, and they have no problem with it being a thing in constructed.

Exactly, and even then, I'm sure we've not seen the last of Tribal centric blocks. It's too popular of a theme to be gone forever.
Well, if this is the name of the next standalone, it sounds metal!
Here's hoping it focuses on warrior, berserker, and barbarian creature types! I have been waiting to make a sick Lovisa Coldeyes EDH deck and would love some more options to include in it.
Nope, that would have been me. Either page 1 or 2.

It really, really wasn't.
It was a gothic horror block, of which one of the subthemes was tribal.

Sounds like a video game.
MaRo's stated that a full-on tribal block may be incompatible with the NWO push at common. Both ONS/LRW were very, very complicated

:/ WoTC needs to get away from Theme and Flavor being the same thing. Gothic Horror flavor, with a pretty strong Tribal and Graveyard theme.
