I don't really get the flavor here. Why does a lion get to be harder to deal with than gods?
Flavor is always secondary to mechanics. Even in a top down set, the game play needs to be correct because at the end of the day a vast majority people buy the cards to play the game. Flavor is a bonus.
Anyhow, the best I can come up with myself is a game in the top 8 of a PTQ back during Urza block in which we were starting game 3 with time already expired, so the tiebreaker rule was that whoever had more life after 3 turns would win. And I lost to... healing salve.
Won't replace Watchwolf in my Petraglyphs deck!
Obviously a very strong card. I'm disappointed that it's rare. It's not complex at all, and will be a 4-of in GW aggro decks (or 3-color decks that share those colors). I'm not sold on it reviving Bant hexproof, though. He's not hexproof until you spend 5 mana on him, which is a bit much when you're simultaneously trying to stick stuff on him.
You don't even need Archangel of Thune or anything else to complement the rest of the creature package.
That's a strong deck.
Poor Boros....
I think Archangel of Thune and Trostani, Selesnya's Voice definitely belong in there too since the synergy between them and Scavening Ooze is so strong. And it makes short work of Red based aggro as the GW Archangel deck proofs. And Centaur Healer also exists pushing it even more in G/W direction
Who on Earth would play Conclave and why would you not play Ooze anyways? If you get to 5 mana this thing reads - Emrakul hard to removal? Hahaha I laugh at your protections Emrakul they are puny compared to me!
Really, I don't think there is a card that will kill it yet once it is monstrous besides edict effects when it is the only creature on the field.
Well, if you're playing advent of the wurm and trostani or any other token generators, you might consider call of the conclave instead due to synergy. Remember, in the right deck, an inferior card can be better.
As for why you wouldn't be playing ooze, after innistrad rotates graveyard strategies and cards won't be as prevalent, and in a pure aggro deck that taps out every turn for threats, overfilling your 2 drop slot will lead to a bad mana curve
This is still a very good card though, a 3/3 for 2 that has a mana sink to make it a considerable threat in the mid-late game.
I can't think of a reason you wouldn't run 12 two drops. Youre right you don't want to oversaturate that slot. But I think the default will be Voice, Ooze, Lion. Call could certainly be played over the latter two in some decks.
They already got [CARD]Magma Jet
[/CARD] and Shock and they have [CARD]Mizzium Mortars
[/CARD] so doubt the will print a two-mana spell that deals 3 damage otherwise they would just have reprinted Searing Spear but lets see what Theros will add to the pool.

4 Voice, 3 Ooze, 3 Lion is a solid set of 2 drops. You don't want to oversaturate on Oozes because they cannibalize one another, and Lion isn't entirely a 2 drop, you really need to treat him like a pseudo-5. Voice deserves the 4th copy because of the passive hate and automatic 2 for 1 (Pillar is leaving us).

That's reasonable. I expect the numbera on two drops to be flexible, minus the 4 Voices.
Well that seems pretty good...Watchwolf we never knew ye'.
And somewhere someone is looking at this as proof cats are better than dogs.
Hey, it gets hexproof and indestructible. While not quite as good as Invisible Stalker, it's good to see something for Bant Hexproof.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

I've been hearing rumors about Volcanic Hammer. It absolutely fits the flavor for red's God, and we just went from a 1cmc 2dmg sorcery and 2cmc 3dmg instant. So it's perfectly feasible we move to a 1cmc 2dmg instant and 2cmc 3dmg sorcery.
Looks like this is going to win the award for most overrated card in the set.
3/3 for 2? We already have two of those in Standard and nobody uses
Them. Being a 3/3 for 2 does not instantly make a card Standard playable.
And then the activated ability. Obviously hexproof and indestructible go together like peanut butter and chocolate. But youre paying 5 mana to upgrade your 3/3 to a 4/4. Yes, it's unkillable, but it's still just a 4/4 that will still be outclassed by any X/5 like polukranos and the gods. And while you're paying 5 mana to upgrade your 3/3 to a 4/4, your opponent is using their mana to play more x/5s or to monstrous their stormbreath dragon which then just kills you.
Card would have been better if monstrous 2, but is just decent, it will get outclassed quickly in a real game and isn't better than voice or ooze.
This is how you evaluate.
And somewhere someone is looking at this as proof cats are better than dogs.

I don't think this is intended for Bant Auras, since, on that archetype, you're spending your 3-5 turn in attaching auras to a hexproofed creature. Gladecover Scout or Witchstalker are better options for this purpouse than the lion, since they can kill it anytime before you get the 5 mana to make it monstruous.
I love the flavor of this card, because it very cleverly takes two existing greek myths and mashes them into one.
The Nemean Lion was an enormous lion (that was slain by hercules) with a super tough, nearly impenetrable hide (Hence the indestructible) while the golden fleece was said to have great protective properties (hence hexproof)
Plus the art is great and I think this is a pretty good card.
Looks like planar cleansing and merciless eviction might get a workout.
I like this guy more than conclave, he attacks for 3 a few times and then rather than adding another creature to the board you just buff this guy up and then stick an unflinching courage on him.
He's like a semi worse version of sigarda, once he goes even further beyond is pretty hard to stop him.
Planar Cleansing is not really good since he is indestructible you know.

Seems like the list of good auras narrows down to:
Ethereal Armor, (Gift of Orzhova - only relevant for Flying + Lifelink if need be), Madcap Skills, Pursuit of Flight.
Pursuit may serve as a replacement for Spectral Flight by using the new 0/3 Utopia Tree.
Edit: Ofc I forgot the best: Unflinching Courage
for a set that is encouraging mono-color strategies, the multicolor cards seem pretty pushed.

Call of the Conclave is actually in the format, for example. And it works with populate, but that hasn't lead to anything whatsoever.

I'm not sure, at least in this set. We already have Magma Jet (which i'm really happy to have).

On phasing:
Stick a pair of pants on it and it gets really out of control. Gift of Orzhova or Unflinching Courage area both nice.
