It kind of makes sense that the gods are pointless with nothing on the board flavor-wise. They are only meaningful/powerful with followers. They give their followers strength/abilities and can only manifest with enough followers showing their devotion.
You are 100% right though from a pure play-power standpoint; it would be nice if they could do something alone on the board.
not negate, since that's NON-CREATURE spell, as in: "a spell without creature as a supertype"
While the point of this post is correct, please don't post things that would mislead newer players to think "Creature" is a supertype, (it isn't,) but rather simply a card type.
The (current) list of Supertypes in Magic are:

Elite
Legendary

Snow
World
On another note, this card is sweet in a lot of applications and potential decks. Young Pyromancer might just have found a Standard home!
lol @ the people saying the gods do nothing after a board wipe
most creatures do nothing after a board wipe... because they're dead
The gods stick around to give you benefits for rebuilding and can turn back into ****ing gigantic indestructible beaters
Thank you. I swear people will find anything to complain about. This god is clearly a fat slice of awesome. I think he will make an excellent general and have impact in multiple formats.

**** this site. I'd delete this account but that doesn't seem to be an option. The mods here are ******* useless ********s who ban people for simple ass normal words. **** them and **** this site.
no molten birth? 2 tokens plus one for each pyro plus 2 damage for each guttersnipe and 2 damage from purphy for each token, with a 50% chance to get it back to hand sounds pretty wicked.
YMTC: We need a spikey red enchantment. My creations:
RR
Whenever a player taps a nonbasic land, [Card] deals 2 damage to them.
-or-
R
Whenever a player would gain life, flip a coin. If heads, that player loses that much life instead. If tails sacrifice [card] and that player gains that life as per usual.
Heliod is borderline trash, but Purphoros is easily the most broken of the Gods thus far! You don't even need him as a critter, that's just the icing on the cake!
Good LORD this guy is busted. Ajani's Chosen's new BFF? I'm seeing a RW enchantment deck forming...
Actually, paired with Heliod he becomes even crazier. Probably will never see this in constructed, but for the sake of argument, assume Ajani's Chosen, Heliod and Purphoros are on the board.
Suddenly you got 2WW: Get a 2/1 Cleric and a 2/2 Cat with vigilance and deal 4 damage to target creature or player. Holy crap.
EDIT: Ah it's each opponent, not target creature/player. Still totally insane.
It's all creature, and 2 damage as a creature enter into play.
And again i'm failing to see why the blue version of this cycle is the one with the best mana cost zzz
It's because blue is a spell based color so the blue god is the hardest to switch into a creature. The red one gets ash zealot, multiple strong 1-drops, burning tree emissary, Boros reconer, mindsparker, and more while blue only gets judge's familiar, tidebinder mage, and nightveil specter as playable permanents with good devotion contributions. As more setsare released and blue's pool gets better I expect the blue god to see play for being a creature but as of now she is just an indestructible enchantment with some useful abilities.

Check out my Sales 50% OFF everything for the next 48 hours.
I'm totally thinking Red White combo beatdown - Guttersnipe, Young Pyromancer, Purphyros, Anax and Cymede, and Ogre Battledriver, with things like Swift Justice and Thunder Strike, that gives you some cheap easy power behind Anax, and some fun stack play.
I don't think he fits in aggro because the mono red decks in rtr block win on turn 4 (sometimes turn 3) consistently.
But Big red (R/W actually) sounds pretty intimidating to be honest.
This guy, reckoner, assemble, maybe elspeth, chandra's pheonix, burn, etc... sounds pretty good.

If MTG is a part of your life, the formats are like relationships:
Standard/Block = The on-again, off-again holiday fling
Modern/Vintage/Legacy = Stable, homely. A ***** after absence/misreading
Limited/Sealed = Heart breaking free spirit
Commander/Cube = Agreeable, needy and expensive
Pauper/Peasant = Sweet, kind, practical, but shy and boring
Crimson Chin over here seems pretty good. Combines pretty well with the Cleft the Boy Chin Wonder tokens he makes.
Also, why has red been so many good token makers the last couple blocks? I'm not complaining mind you, just interesting to see them moving some token-making love into red. Less :grouphug:, more :mob:.
That is one hell of a static ability. Firebreathing was pretty predictable. But god damn... I really don't want this to stay in the field with Krenko out and his gobbos.

To the people that say that a card needs to be a higher rarity because of Limited... I hate you guys so much. I present to you with this.

Well, Merciless Eviction is already around. Also, this card is sweet, I want to make an EDH deck with it. In standard it should be pretty good too.
I think that five-word rules text rare that Mark Roswater has hinted at will be a white rare that says "Exile target God or planeswalker."

So a rare that only targets mythics. Exactly how bad at game design do you think Wizards is?
Generals meant to be drafted first in a single pack of 6 cards.
And here is the actual cube, meant to be drafted in 4 regular sized packs. (60 card decks)
But Big red (R/W actually) sounds pretty intimidating to be honest.
