What exactly are you acceling into? He only gives you mana if you have creatures in play, and the decks that play 1-3 drops don't have high costing stuff.
That being said, a 2/2 haster every turn is very appealing.
yeah, cuz mana dorks in an accel deck aren't a thing and the other Satyr isn't a card, there aren't any cheap Monstrous dudes and you can't build a deck with large AND small critters.
modern jund, welcome your new turn 1 dethrite turn 2 bob turn 3 play this guy and a tarmogoyf? thats not even magical xmas land

looking to play magic in the Albany, NY area? come on down to New York Sports @ Yankee Dugout. We do events almost every night of the week including our Sunday night standard. Check us out for a fun place to play.
Jund in Modern just moved back to three colors. Forget white, This thing blows Ajani out of the water in my opinion.
Interesting how 2 modern archetypes that play no more than 20 lands get 4 drops that are worth adding 3-4 more lands to their deck to play. This thing in Gruul Zoo (typically 18-19 lands) and Mater of Waves in merfolk (typically 19-20 lands) I really like what Wizards has done here in this case. Those 2 decks really have to evaluate cards and spots in deck and see if it's worth the stretch
It seems like planeswalkers, which started out being lesser gods, are pretty much now just legendary characters. This guy rules the universe traveling through planes with magic so powerful he can control stars and create black holes? Looks like a punk rocking goth with too much leg hair, and his abilities don't really seem godlike to me. Undercosted to make the card powerful, yes. Godlike? Hardly.
Planeswalker cards aren't really special anymore. I understand stuff like Karn, and Nicol Bolas, and maybe even Jace, but..... Xaganos? Hmmm. K.
well I think there was talk that he is worshiped by the satyrs so, yeah. seems pretty godlike to me.
seriously though, this dude, might be bonkers. I was really counting on the format to be slowing down, but this guy can come out on turn three. could you imagine having a regular 1 drop mana dork Casting Domri on turn 2 then follow up this guy the next turn? and thats not even without the Emmissarys you could easily drop in those same turns.
Whey are there so many of these Gruul Planeswalkers floating around?

a small sentence for you to read while you ignore my post.
Kinda sad they printed ANOTHER gruul planeswalker already (seriously wizards, we just got domri!!!) BUT I think the fact that this guy is ridiculously good will offset my complaint. I see this guy as another Garruk Wildspeaker, only his +1 can give you even more value and the tokens have haste. Also, his ultimate can either be super crazy amazing or just one of those meh types of things. I suppose my Jund EDH might want to make room for him...
His art is good. Haven't heard great things about his personality though I do think it's funny though that he got the most pushed planeswalker ever in Jace and now he's got this guy, another pushed planeswalker that is sure to shake things up.
maybe we can expect some more planeswalker removal/defense type spells? Honestly, my Domri/Gruul deck didn't need to get even more ridiculous. I like winning, but my first impression is this card is broken as all get-out.
Ok time to get Domri's and now this guy xenagos? Man damn this card is so smexy and damn if it wont presell for 40+
Neither of them play particularly well together, but both love creature heavy decks and there is a 100% chance of there being a tier 1 deck playing at least one of these, post-rotation Standard.

I wouldn't play Domri T2 and this guy T3. And realistically your manadork is going to get killed, so you can't count on that accell.
I would T1 mana dork, T2 BTE into something and then watch my mana dork die, T3 drop a dude, probably lose one of my guys, T4 this guy, pop out a hasty dude, and then use his mana accel to play Domri next turn for "free"
He's not that great in aggro since aggro decks want to win by T4. He makes midrange decks pretty nuts though by speeding them way up.
@Bobmuffins: I think they're more worried about red and green eclipsing the other, not-so-constantly-creature-reliant colors in power.
That said, I don't get the appeal of something that's, for the most part, just big numbers (q.v. things like Shivan Dragon). I get that it's powerful, but it wouldn't register as even slightly interesting to me if it didn't have flying. I'd rather MAKE my own frigate (see: graft and soulbond). Thus, the unalloyed version of Timmy seems incomprehensible to me, absent an assumption of sheer impatience.
Wow. So this guy is kinda good. So good in fact that you'd be stupid not to play cuz he can come out on turn 2 and then gaea's cradle as a +1. I want to like him, but when Wizards makes cards on this scale, I just want it banned, and not at the last minute like Jace. Completely unhealthy for the game when everyone has to play it or lose to it.

The first mode is sometimes good, the second mode is always good, and who cares about ultimates anyways?

I know that feel bro. Really wanted R/B... Still, definitely the most powerful walker since Liliana 2.0... Maybe more so.

You mean G/R, the creature-heavy colors, are about creatures?
Wow. Woah.
I honestly doubt this guy's gonna see that much play. He's not bad, and he'll find a deck, but he is NOT the next JTMS, by far.
I think Jason Chan is an awesome artist
