Wow this is by far the best walker of the set. I was really gunning for the new elspeth to be a 3cmc walker with some great abilities. You know so she could be the equivilant of Liliana of the veil for this set. But no...she crapped out at 6. Great effects but FRIGGING SIX CMC! Then the new UB walker looks like its lacking something terrific unless UB(x?) control will have a legitimate mill win con. We do have some stupid awesome mill cards in m14...
But yeah back to this sexy half goat son'obiotch he is pure amazing. My only critique is that his ultimate isn't something that I feel I will use to often. It reminds me of unexpected results in a sort of hit or miss effect. I think he will be used for Turn 4 fatty.
T1: Dork
T2: BTE-> 3cmc something
T3: This guy. make 3 mana and play something else.
T4: Have an unholy amount of mana to play whatever you want
Or if you want a more aggro verson why not play him with Domri rade?
My thoughts? I hope people try this because it will make Domri and Xenagos whiff more often and they absolutely have 0 synergy making a deck that goes T3 Domri, T4 Xenagos so easy to beat.
They don't have "absolutely zero synergy" Xenagos gives you mana to cast the creatures off of Domri's +1, Xen's 0 provides fodder for Domri's -2, and their ults are perfect together. Fire off Domri Emblem, Fire off Xen, Alpha Strike.

Domri's +1 (hopefully) draws you a creature. Xenagos' +1 gives you the mana to play it (remember when you dumped those BTE's on T2? Unless you were able to play an Elvish Mystic T1 and Domri on T2).
Domri's -2 acts as removal. Xenagos' 0 gives you a creature to feed to Domri's -2. If you think just 2 damage for the fight mechanic isn't enough, you swing, hope for a block, then use fight.
Domri's -7 buffs the hell out of your creatures. Xenagos' ... everything ... gives you more creatures.
These two guys interact so well. Heck, make a bad modern deck by grabbing Sarkhan as well. They all interact so amazingly well (+1's draws you a card, plays it, gives it haste; for starters).
BTE (maybe Rubblebelt Raiders) and all the multicolor RG cards running around will make devotion easy to hit.
+1 is great with Kessig Wolf Run, Bonfire & other things with X-costs.
Of course also just to get your Hand faster in or bein able to afford giant spells.
0 is repeatable Token-production. Either aggresive, or defensive ! Here i just dont like that ist not a +1-ability. Since his +1 is sometimes situational, you probably want those Tokens more & so cant rise in loyality & stay low in loyality. This lil change would have made him perfect >.<
Another ultimate that indicates that Wizards wanna make ultimates not an Auto-win
find him a lot better than Domri.
Both of Domris abilities are situational.
He almost never did a good Job 4 me.
Good that Xenagos is here now to Change something ! What an interesting & powerful Walker.
Because of the rotation, I imagine he's more likely to power out Mizzium Mortars than a Kessig activation.
There's also Stormbreath Dragon. I'm hoping for a cheap efficient beater (like a 3/2 for 2) with monstrosity. It would make Xenagos much better.
Don't know if anyone mentioned this but scry is interesting with him because it increases your spell density by shipping lands to the bottom while Xenagos makes mana to be able to cast them. Kind of a sweet snowball effect.
We already have such a beater. Ist Fleecemane Lion. 2 Mana 3/3 with Monstrosity.
I think a naya deck with xenagos domri and the new thundermaw (stormbreath dragon) and fleecemane lion are going to make naya decks even better. Pairing them with already powerful cards like voice and Reckoner. The set is only half spoiled as well so who knows what else is waiting in the wings.

Our only *good* mana fixer is Sylvan Cartyad, which is 2cmc. Sure it has hexproof, but it's still vulnerable to removal in ways that fetching a land with farseek would not. Losing this card post rotation will be huge. I was expecting something nicer for the mana fixers, but I understand why they've been neutered.
I like this card, but I think people are imagining things with this card I don't think will be possible. To me, he's much more exciting than any we had in return to ravnica and that haste part is huge. The set also seems slower (only half the set has been revealed, I must remind myself), and that'll be great for cards like this and Jace, Architect of Thought.

You can't use any of those spell with the +1 because of rotation. With this and the legendary land it's better suited with BTEs and powering out giant red/green fatties and other planeswalkers.
i did a bit playtesting in Modern with Xenagos in MWS.
& i noticed some Problems with him:
First Thing is:
Most of the time, you want that Satyr-Token. & this ability doesnt get him higher in loyality & so he stays @ 3. Thats really dangerous against red Decks &/or faster Decks.
(i lost him quite often this way) & the ability you often want to use, actualy should gain you loyality, since you also want to have the posibility reachin the ultimate & make it harder to kill. The fact that the Tokens have haste was just irrelevant in the games i had, cause i was never in the Position to attack, cause otherwise i would have lost Xenagos very fast !
So my only complaint about this ability is that it doesnt gain loyality. Would be muuuuuch better as a +1 with the Tokens without havin Haste.
The +1 i honestly raaaaarely needed. & most of the time it wasnt better than Garruks untap-ability.
i playtested him in an Aggro-Midrange-Deck
SO MY PERSONAL OPINION: i find him to be an avarage Planeswalker. Not among the best ones, like Elspeth, Knight Errant
Valtiel's green ghost.. this planeswalker is crazy bawlz.
- Auto-include in any Gruul standard deck
- Auto-include in any Gruul/x creature-based EDH deck
- Might very well fit established modern decklists in addition to starting new ones- "Satyr ball"
This planeswalker is so pushed he probably tripped on his way out of R&D
and smacked his head. Gaea's Cradle as a plus ability? Good gravy, my
heart! *clutches his chest* ET TU, MARO?!
Seems like a complete monster in EDH. Rarely are planeswalkers worth much in EDH and this guy is a beast, because Gaea's Cradle is a house in EDH and this guy is essentially a Gaea's Cradle.
i'm going to play it in modern in elf-ball, from now on know as elf-fireball.

A few of my friends complained about there being another Gruul planeswalker; I'm super excited, and GR isn't even my favorite color combination. I think this guy is aaaaaaaaawesome, and I hope he sees a lot of play in a lot of formats.
Domri Rade and this guy curve out nicely and work together decently (Domri turns Xenagos' tokens into removal, or Domri fishes out extra creatures and Xenagos lets you play the extra creatures). Red/Green Aggro Walkers, anyone?
I'm not the first to say this, and I won't be the last, but he's not all that great. His ramping ability is conditional, his 22 hastey guys aren't amazing, and ultimate is pretty weak, as far as ultimites go.

605.1a An activated ability is a mana ability if it meets three criteria: it doesn't have a target, it could put mana into a player's mana pool when it resolves, and it's not a loyalty ability.

We're going to be seeing Domri + Xenagos + BTE decks like crazy, mark my words.

Well, it does precisely match the card the quoted user was hoping for, so I guess someone has a use for it. It does go well with Xenagos, after all.

I would think it does use the stack
It's a planeswalker ability that produces mana
I'm not sure but it seems strange to think you couldn't respond to it
