Color me confused. That promotional token has the exact same art as the just-revealed actual Golem token in the set.
This was not the case with the "here's-a-free-token-if-you're-interested-in-doing-the-Judge-thing" token from Return to Ravnica (a Centaur), which had completely new art.

The last time I remember them doing this was with Wolf tokens when Innistrad first came out and the art was the same as the normal Innistrad Wolf tokens.
Gold is a soft and weak metal. Can't imagine the god of the forge would equip his soldiers in it. Probably bronze. Looks like brass to me but that wouldn't be period appropriate.
Perhaps these Golems are in fact inspired by Talos, the giant bronze man in Greek mythology, though, you know, not that this is a(n actual) Greek set.
One wonders, when might there be a Hebrew set? Golems would naturally belong there.
I don't like this token's art. I can't put my finger on it, but I think it has to do with the contrast, as in how dark the art is.
The new art ones are WPN promo tokens, the free handout has always been the same art.
What he said:
That's not entirely true. Since the 2013 Core Set, Wizards has distributed 1 promotional token per Standard set with the League kits they send out to stores. Magic 2013 had a promotional Goblin token with alternate art, Return to Ravnica had a promotional Knight token with alternate art, Gatecrash an alt art Soldier token, Dragon's Maze a Bird token (no actual Bird token appeared in the set), and Magic 2014 an alt art Sliver token. I presume these are the alt art WPN promo tokens to which you refer.
However, there was an additional alternate art token from Return to Ravnica, besides the League Knight token: a green 3/3 Centaur token with "1/1 Judge" printed on the copyright line. The back was an advertisement for the Judge Program.
You are correct, during Innistrad they distributed a similar token, a copy of the Wolf token in the set, with the Judge advertisement back and "1/1 Judge" on the type line. It is entirely possible that they returned to distributing regular-art tokens for the judge thing. But the Return to Ravnica judge token had alternate art.

In this card you get to see both in pure colorless form. Nice!
