I felt a great disturbance in the force, like a thousand decks across several formats suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has been printed
Given how the latest Duels of the Planeswalkers describes Ajani as specializing in Aura magic, I'm gonna guess that he's got something to do with enchantments. Since green and white are the colors that like enchantments historically, I can see him being GW easily.
So, Ajani shall appear in this block, it seems? I am not certain what to say about that; I find him to be an interesting character, but I do wish that WotC would not constantly use the same characters in nearly every block. Perhaps, if Ajani is a color or color combination other than mono-white, I shall be more pleased to see him in this block; it would be nice for him to be green/white, since there still is no planeswalker of that color combination and Elspeth is likely to remain mono-white for the foreseeable future.

I feel like printing new versions of walkers is a back-door way of keeping super friends decks from getting too much versatility by being able to have an overwhelming amount of walkers on the board at once.

It's been six years since Ajani has last been sighted. I mean, I get where you are coming from, but still... You should probably complain about Elspeth first.
Maybe Ajani can finally stop being "one of those other planeswalkers" this time around.
Until he actually kills Nicol Bolas (hold your breath if you want) or, really, anyone else, he'll continue to be pointless or his role will be just as easily filled by another. He's got one arc to finish and it'll be a good decade or 3 before one of them die. Or never.
Because of... what? A green piece of clothing? WOH, man. It's sealed and done.Until he actually kills Nicol Bolas (hold your breath if you want) or, really, anyone else, he'll continue to be pointless or his role will be just as easily filled by another. You're not familiar with the finer points of his arc are you? It's already done.
It was all about solving the mystery of his murdered brother. That's done now. He wanted revenge, but at the climax of that arc, he realized it wouldn't really solve anything, so he's chosen to move on with his life.
Since it seems that Theros block is going to be a bit of a coming-of-age for Elspeth it does make sense for Ajani to be there, he's probably her closest friend that is a card in the game.
I don't get the "not him again" attitude, yeah he's in core sets but he hasn't been in an expert expansion since Shards of Alara, that was a while ago now.

Yeah, the Mirrodin map is tiny comparatively speaking. Still better than kung-fu pandas though.
I'd rather take Kung-Fu Pandas than that horrendous Ravnica 2.0 Raid. It doesn't even fit into the lore!
I remember there was a pretty big fallout among vorthoses when M12 came out about how horribly vague and out of character Ajani and Liliana's new cards were.
Ajani because he and Elspeth had basically become the same person mechanically.
I remember one of the DotP games had his deck as a GW style aura aggro deck, and I suspect his appearance here will bring that full circle.
Elspeth will be the W "make tokens and gain life" walker.
Ajani will be the W "enchantments matter" walker.
Why?
It seems to be bothering a lot of people, but WHY?

That backlash did end up convincing them to appoint someone to oversee walker ability suites.
I really don't think so.
He looks all the world like a satyr, and Xenagos has already been attributed to have an affinity with them.
Given that it was stressed that Iroas and Mogis are the "Twins of War" I expect them to look similar, but maybe with different armor or pallets.
Nice catch.
He's not, its still his axe, but its been broken in half. Which is sure to piss him off because it was the combination of his and his brother's axes into a double axe. It was his most cherished material possession.
The second picture suggests that Elspeth's sword was turned into a spear by Heliod as a blessing of some sort.
Well Xenagos isn't a god whoever he is and satyr's seem to be c loser to Nylea then any other god's so far according to the oracle.
..........................
I don't care what else is in the block, I will have him.
Pillarfield Ox has been an Agent of Bolas this whole time!? My life is a lie! *cue Darth Vader NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!*

Phyrexia was the best old raid. But the Neowalkers guys didn't play it before the nerfs.
Bloody casuals.

Wouldn't Elspeth only be able to be W B G and Ajani is a white walker who can use Red Mana.

Jace, Ajani andd Garruk all duked it out for "best walker" role for a while.
Only Lili and Chandra didn't see notable play from that cycle.
Merfolk are already confirmed in Theros.
They're called "Tritons".

Since the two main gods of Akroas are Purpheros and Iroas, im gonna go ahead and guess that Iroas will be the main bad-guy in set two.
EDIT: Looks like he's in Journey into Nyx as well!
The Oracle of Theros said "perhaps" to Kiora being around.
