It was confirmed at SDCC when they first started showing us pictures of Theros and talked about her new spear. It's literally one of our oldest pieces of info about Theros.
And no, last we heard, she was LEAVING Mirrodin with Karn.
Both Karn and Elspeth looked at Mirrodin and basically said "Lost Cause" and told Melira and Koth good luck.
From what I remember Goldmane was the second best walker during the lorwyn run. Garruk was the highest tier, but Goldmane saw a little play. Certainly more than the rest.
You're right. I was thinking more in terms of the game instead of its lore. Ajani's never really had a top tier incarnation yet (the best probably being Ajani Vengeant, who was always overshadowed by Jund decks that didn't use it).
Lorwyn Ajani was probably the best planeswalker for a while when the token decks were top tier. Vengeant was part of Superfriends and definately had a big impact in standard -- he's even getting played in modern jund currently! Even the 3 mana Ajani certainly isn't bad.

Evil is even, truth is an odd number, and death is a full stop.

Vengeant sees play in a couple different version of the UWR and Boros decks.
I get that, but look at his left arm, he is holding it in a position that suggests he is holding a shield, and it's vague but you can see what appears to be the edge of a somewhat triangular shield on his left side.
Also, the only satyr feature he has is the horns, his ears are pointed the wrong direction for satyr features, his point upward, the satyr arts we have, their ears point backward. Dunno, I just get a very bloodlust vibe from the first art and an evil I'm going to get you vibe from the second art. Plus Xenagos is likely to be more interested in parties (although I imagine his parties have results similar to project X) than covering himself in blood, bursting out of the tops of mountains, and fighting planeswalkers. I don't have any support for it, but I would imagine that a god whose title is The Reveler isn't likely to be the BBEG of the block....
Ajani's left arm (without his axe) is just down to the left and is sort of shaded. The thing that looks like it could be a shield I believe is elspeth's leg armour thingy - it's like the opening on the side so the leg is more free.

It's Elspeth's leg and the way it intersects with his pauldron. Your assessment is definitely on the mark though.
It's about damned time that Ajani was involved in a block's story again. We saw his origin story in Alara, then nothing except a cameo in a webcomic. For being one of the original flagship Planeswalkers, he's had the least screen time of the five.
Mechanically, Theros is a great place for Ajani. His "thing" is enhancing and buffing other people, so I've long been expecting a new version of him that uses Auras in some way. I definitely wouldn't be shocked by him being GW either. He is proficient in all three of Naya's colors, but so far green is the only one that hasn't been used. It would distinguish him from the (presumably) monowhite Elspeth in the same block as well.
I really like her depiction in Theros. She seems younger, more like her 1.0 card. 2.0 just made her look....old...
She was exhausted. I mean, a war on alara is one thing, but phyrexia...what a way to go

I fear I won't have much time to play Magic these days.
I get to watch worlds develop around me.
I get to watch great leaders, terrible oppressors, and trend setters rise and fall.
Limited, Standard, Modern, everything is a different playing field I feel I can observe, but will not actually touch.
I look forward to the stories I will hear.
And more so to the ones I will watch unfold first hand.
Isn't the unknown exciting?

I agree, but there is one thing that makes me Think Twice about it. It would mean that not only was Ajani the original Lorwyn5 mono-W planeswalker, but also the only R/W planeswalker, *and* the only G/W planeswalker. That would be kind of, I dunno... strange?
I don't want to be that guy, but that god in the Nyx picture has horns that look very... familiar.
The fact he's battling Elspeth and Ajani doesn't exactly contradict that.
Could Bolas be powerful enough to successfully masquerade as a god on Theros?

To me, it just shows they intend to one day print a WRG Ajani,
and they are slowly building the "case" for that.

... seriously? Those horns don't look like Bolas's.
I mean, I would actually dig it if Bolas played some factor in Theros, but not as a major antagonist.

BREAKING: Are all minotaurs Bolas' minions? They do have very similar horns. Come to think of it, Pillarfield Ox looks pretty suspicious as well.
She bears the X-Men insignia on her attire just below the belt. Now you know why she is a complete BAMF.
I know from X-Men (big fan), and she is wearing far too much clothing for an adult female Marvel hero.
I really don't see, from the art given, why Lion-O would be considered GW. I could see it happening with him more than Elly, but just because he has a bit of emerald cloth streaming behind him does not mean he is going to be GW.
No doubt. The only reason Elspeth dropped out of her blood frenzy in NP and stopped killing wave after wave of Phyrexians was because Tezzeret called them off. She can fight almost like an Oldwalker when something gets her ire up.
Yeah. Like an Old Walker. We all know how well trying to Solo Phyrexia went when Urza tried it...

I'd say Jace saw more play
Entirely possible. As a 3 drop with good utility, he was up there. Locally, at least, I know Goldmane saw more action.

my thoughts exactly
Black could use another, but I hope we manage another mono-green walker. We are in DESPERATE need of expanding the roster in that quarter.

It's his own fault. That's at least a 10 person raid and his equips were all out of sorts.
