I'd almost guarantee that Vindicate with Sorin art was supposed to be in Sorin's deck from the Sorin vs Tibalt DD but Wizards decided it was too powerful (or more likely) too expensive to give out in that deck so they cut it at the last minute and used it for a Judge promo instead.
Surprised that Genesis wasn't a judge promo long ago.
I (jokingly) thought so as well, but the artist of the art was engaged by Wizards until Dragon's Maze, making it unlikely that they had the artwork done for a project released a year earlier.
I don't really understand the art of any Vindicate.
The first one is the Weatherlight crashing into Yawgmoth I believe (or something to that effect): it's basically the good guys win but at a very steep cost
The second one (first judge promo) is some dude blowing something up
I am impressed by the new Vindicate, but I do believe that it was unnecessary to print a second judge promo of it. I shall presume that this card was printed because it is so popular and powerful, but too powerful to be included in a set such as Duel Decks: Sorin versus Tibalt, as many people had been hoping. I already have the first judge promo vindicate, which I purchase for only $25.00 (and its price now is anywhere between $85 and $125, which makes me very glad that I purchased it for such a relatively low price), and I would very much like to have this new printing, but I doubt that I shall be able to afford it, as it shall liekly be nearly as expensive as the first promo version of the card.
I am not very interested in the promo genesis, but I do believe that it is an excellent of which to print a judge promo, although I do wish that it had been given new art, since using the same artwork for it makes is somewhat superfluous and almost unnecessary; with such rare and special cards as judge promos, one typically expects new artwork.

I understood the flavor for the weatherlight saga vindicate, but what the devil does sorin and being old have to do with vindication?
I think you discovered one of the issues with Weatherlight Saga flavor. Vindicate as a card name makes sense in the context of the story, but destroying any permanent doesn't really have to do with vindication in general. The flavor only works when tied to the Apocalypse novel.
Therefore, any reprint of Vindicate is going to have to either reuse the Apocalypse scenario or it's going to have issues because it fits the name and not "destroy target permanent" or it fits the mechanics and not the name.
Tying card names to specific story events or characters can bite you in the butt if you want to reprint those cards later, since unlike the flavor text, names can't be changed with a reprint.

Its an issue, but its one they should address cleverly, like they did with the previous judge foil. Its an obstacle they have to overcome by thinking of an intelligent way to tie in the flavor, art and mechanic and name, when in this card, its a damned trainwreck. The art loosely works with the flavor text and mechanic, but nothing ties into the name whatsoever.
Now if they use proper nouns it just precludes reprints, but this name is generalized enough it shouldn't have been that big an issue. I just really don't like a card with this big of a design miss, its a melvin fail
They could do a cultivate to the card, a functional reprint.
To be honest, I think it would get reprint as something like...
Condemn to the Void WWBB and reprint it as uncommon. The more difficult cost and higher CC makes it more balanced.
I think Maelstrom Pulse is the updated version of Vindicate, with the "same name" clause to make up for it being unable to hit lands, since R&D doesn't want 3cmc land destruction anymore.
Ugh. Please print some more new frame staples in the old frame. Why on earth they need a second Judge foil printing of Vindicate is beyond me. I'm guessing they planned on putting Vindicate in Innistrad block and bailed at the last second, and had commissioned art that they didn't know what to do with, but still.

Darn... I want that art. Now, how do I go about getting one?...
I think that Overwhelming Forces was the partner to Show and Tell.
It's going to cost 100 dollars though
*sigh*
Has any other Magic card been a judge promo twice?

This is Sorin killing someone
Do we know this for a fact?
I love the new art regardless, and I agree that Genesis looks awkward in the modern frame.
You are correct sir, that is exactly what happened.
I really hope this did not happen. How much better would Sorin vs. Tibalt have been with Vindicate in the deckbox?
How is Sorin in ANY way emo? Are you just judging off of the fact that he's a vampire? If so, you really couldn't be more wrong.
IMO a flavor home run on Vindicate.

Agreed. They should have replaced Tibalt with it.
