I wish my 4/4s with haste and first strike that acted as Goblin Warchiefs were better and didn't die to instants and overshadowed all other 4 drops in the format. And that they had evasion too, and some way to dodge wrath effects.
Welp, I posted these yesterday in the existing thread and literally only one person cared, so I'm glad to see everyone jumping all over these cards here. /sarc
You're surprised that more people noticed a new thread rather than a post buried in another thread?
That duress and that high tide...I want those. I think it's hilarious that they've printed both high tide and turnabout/two high tide staples. Maybe they'll print more high tide promos in the future? I wouldn't be remotely surprised to see cunning wish in one of these honestly since they just spoiled multiple rares in acquire and gaze of granite.
Either way, digging these new cards.

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."
See, something has to be changing, though. There's only 4 comics in each line and one promo per comic as it has been for the last 3 runs.
There's 5 promos here. That means we're either getting more than 4 comics in the set or more than one promo per comic.
YEP. Weirdness - I was expecting another four in this Theros set.
This may mean that the new volume will contain five issues (and cards) OR that Wizards has IDW produce a supplemental product with one of the 'extra' cards shown to be handed out at a venue like PAX Prime.
Anywhoos - for reference, here's the run down of all the IDW issues along with their promo card -
No reprint promo is ever standard legal unless it is printed in one of the standard legal sets.
These are just promos, doesn't change anything about what formats the cards are legal in.
Guess I could've been clearer by what I meant.
Are their promos usually from standard legal sets? Like were the last ones from rtr block or innistrad block? Because if so then they might be giving us these cards in theros block.
Obviously Duress and Gaze are already legal in standard, and the others with the exception of high tide seem like perfect candidates for standard legal cards. Which makes me wonder if they usually print cards that either already are, or will be, in standard legal sets.
If MTG is a part of your life, the formats are like relationships:
Standard/Block = The on-again, off-again holiday fling
Modern/Vintage/Legacy = Stable, homely. A ***** after absence/misreading
Limited/Sealed = Heart breaking free spirit
Commander/Cube = Agreeable, needy and expensive
Pauper/Peasant = Sweet, kind, practical, but shy and boring
That sound you heard was my brain popping at High Tide in Standard. Yay!

This is why I started playing magic in the first place. It wasn't PT aspirations just making noobs cry by doing things that are perfectly fair.
In the same way you can tell someone is from the XVIII century because he is arroused by ankles, you can tell someone is from USA because he feels nipples disturbing.
Nope, the promos aren't necessarily Standard-legal. See Electrolyze.
Oh boo, I didn't realize they were promos. I was going to say - damn, I thought High Tide was above the power level they were going for.

Also, why not at least put cards of SOME value in this things?
They have in the past (in particular, Standstill), but it's generally a bad idea to package a $5 comic with a card worth more than $5, as you'll end up with value-seekers buying and discarding the comic to get the card, and no one ends up reading it.
That said, the High Tide will probably be worth something because it's the only new-frame High Tide and that's a Legacy-playable card.

I could see Merchant Scroll happening. It's generic enough to be an easy fit flavor-wise.
Now that we're seeing all this upcoming stuff it makes me wish we get a Dack-flavored mono-red card or two. All the Dack cards are blue except one blue-red card and one red card.

No it was not. It was 3 series of 4 Issues. Go look at your comics again.
There was the original set, Spell Thief, and Path of Vengeance.

Needs a kill spell (draw x cards or whatever). Also I assume that 8 of those islands are U/W duals then?
Also any of the spells that say do blank untap up to x lands (x being CMC) Rewind, palinchron et all...
