Seriously though, someone needs to spoil the Red Diety, I must see!
What if the mana cost was an infinity symbol? I think that would solve a few issues, and make them unique, realistic and you could justify printing damn near any ability on it.
This makes a few things broken, like chaotic backlash? burning shoal?
That's not really possible. Infinity isn't an actual number, but a concept. You can't pay a cost that is endless, especially since you have to settle on a finite number in order for the game to progress.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
I spent alll last weekend watching all 50 eps of Yu-gi- oh abridged... one of the best things on the internet... :).
well Eldarazi are "god cards"... aren't they?... wait... do you think that these might be the beings that are powerful enough to take on the Eldarazi... something Gideon would like to run into.
personally as a commander player I fight the Eldarazi obnoixous so I hope they aren't just huge with rediclously how P/T and Mana costs... I'd like them to be reasonably castable cmc's and not only for hyper ramp.
Jeez, is this game turning into Yugioh? Next thing you know we find out we need to put 2 creatures on top of each other and cast this on top from a 15 card Extra Deck. Not that Yugioh is bad or anything; it's actually fun, but it's poorly managed.
I've been tinfoil hatting that one for a while, due to the similarities of how cryptozoic and wotc run things as well as shared artist after the new generation of the WoW cards came out. Though i highly doubt we will see the gods work this way
I want to sig this, just cuz my username.... LOL

Wow. If these cards use the word G-D in their card text then they will be hell on Ultra-Orthodox Jewish players. They cannot destroy, erase, or even drop on the ground anything that has one of the names of G-D on them. If the item in question gets soiled in some way, or is dropped there is a whole ritualized way that they have to be destroyed. It is kinda the reason that I, and other Jews type G-D or use one of the more casual names so that the document does not fall under those rules.
Then again, the number of Ultra-Orthodox Jewish players is likely almost zero.
I am not orthodox in any way, shape, or form, and Rabbinic law has said that it only applies to physical media (ie not electronic), but I just got in the habit of typing it that way.
Here's my official, complete theory as to how the god cards will work:
"God" is a permanent type that starts the beginning of each game in your command zone. You may only have one of each god card in your command zone.
Each god will have an activated ability that will have some small cost that is appropriate for its color... we'll call it a "faith" cost". These can be paid by tapping creatures ("praying") or perhaps paying a little bit of life, maybe sacrificing a permanent or two. Whatever is most flavorful for the particular god's place in the color wheel, you know?
Additionally, each god will have a "faith" cost instead of a normal mana cost in the upper-right corner. If you pay THIS cost, then you can get the god to intercede for you by... basically, you get to play it like it was a creature, at which point it has power, toughness, etc. If your god would die, it's instead returned to the command zone.
Finally, each player can only have one god in play at any one time.
I mean... it all makes sense, doesn't it? You have the rules changes to abilities (like convoke) which allows players to pay costs that are NOT mana; you have the very distinct borders for the gods, which would make them easy to find if they somehow got mixed in with your deck; you have the fact that this both incorporates a brand new mechanic ("faith") AND works with an older one in a revised way (World permanents); this sort of system gets around any worries about the gods being reanimated or cheated into play (since they're only creatures when on the battlefield) and you have the fact that this would be very flavorful, VERY intuitive, and VERY cool.
They cannot destroy, erase, or even drop on the ground anything that has one of the names of G-D on them. If the item in question gets soiled in some way, or is dropped there is a whole ritualized way that they have to be destroyed.
Triple sleeves?
Being raised southern baptist, I shouldn't be aware of the existence of such things like Magic, D&D, etc. But I was born with a rare form of Geekus Maximus, so...
On a serious note, I doubt it will be printed with god on it, more likely Diety or some such thing.

Because creating cards that represent deities means that Wizards is introducing their own versions of Egyptian God Cards?

Ya know, I am not sure how rabbinic law would treat a sleeved card, but I am sure if you asked an Orthodox Rabbi they would think on it and answer the question very seriously. LOL.

I don't know much about that, but I thought those sort of rules applied to the name of God, not the word 'God' itself.
I'll find it funny if Gods are Creatures cause actually 'creature' means created -by a God, we assume
Well they are portrayed with stars and the universe as part of their bodies, so they could have been created by some kind of galactic, non-sentient power.
You played JESUS?!?! I heard none of his guys stay in the graveyard, and once you think you have him beat he ALWAYS comes back to win within three turns. I like...WORSHIP him.
* the second returning mechanic is a mechanic that the developers thought had potential but didn’t live up to it first time out - it has been mechanically retweaked and given a new name and flavor. This last mechanic is also tied to the gods
The Heads are creatures, so they wouldn't feed Tarmogoyf. Elite is a new supertype, yes, but Tarmogoyf doesn't care about supertypes. If there is a way to get a Hero into the graveyard, though, then yes, Tarmogoyf just got bigger.

In the same way you can tell someone is from the XVIII century because he is arroused by ankles, you can tell someone is from USA because he feels nipples disturbing.
I'm worried about them. I'm worried that the mechanic that will be reshaped and returning is going to be annihilator.
Morph was fun, but outside of limited mostly lackluster. If anyone played a creature in morph you knew it was that damn angel.
Maybe they'll reprint opalesance?
The only thing I'm hoping for is that the black god gets a card called 'hymn to _____' or '____'s ritual' or '_____'s alter'.
If they were like instant speed planeswalkers, like the blue counterspells, the red pings things, I'd be okay with them.
But what if you need to play a 'hero' card before you can evolve it into a god, like Pikachu evolving into Charizard. The returning mechanic is champion or something.
Enchantments, instants and sorceries can't have creature subtypes. Supertypes also do not grant any subtypes. Therefore a new type, Tribal, had to be created to grant enchantments instants and sorceries creature subtypes. Tribal as a rule cannot be on a card by itself though. It just wouldn't make sense otherwise.
To all those expecting some weird ass stuff, they're probably just enchantment creatures.

There has never been a land that enters the battlefield untapped unconditionally and taps for two colors unconditionally. That would be strictly better than a basic land
