Wizards print good rares, players complain about cash grab. They print underwhelming rares, players complain that the cards suck. They spoil the best cards first, players complain about the insane prices of preorders. They spoil the meh cards first, players complain that this is the worst set ever.
So. I think I understand now.
As far as these forums are concerned, WotC can never do anything good because:
Card that is new and probably good = "pushed"
Card that is new and probably bad = "EDH/casual fodder"
Card that is a reprint = "lazy"
Card that is a better version of an older card = "power creep"
Card that is a weaker version of an older card = "worthless"
A lifelike depiction of a young, thing girl with large breasts? I think WoTC just broke the playerbase.
I'm going to get a custom playmat of a 40 year old overweight frumpy housewife wearing sweatpants and no bra pushing a shopping cart in a supermarket with 3 kids running around printed up, just to try and make some island defense against the increasingly ridiculous sexism getting pushed with alters, sleeves, and playmats these days.
How Victorian.
I find it very disgusting how people who claim to be against sexism want to force women into the world-view that dispatched young girls to psych wards for watherver inconvenience and removed from them any agency or self reliance.
on second thought, i really much prefer this chandra
edit: sorry i don't know how to attach the image
It is indeed her most beautiful depiction to date, while it's not an action pose, even Chandra must have her moments of calm and beauty. That's what red is all about; love, enjoyment, freedom, creativity, passion and the determination to burn, smash and bolt anyone who tries to force you to adapt to retrograde world-views.
I hate that Chandra Nalaar has turned into a white girl.
She is supposed to be of "Indian" decent
She's supposed to be from whatever continent Jaya is, in Dominaria. Since she learnt to magic at her academy.
As far as I remember Dominaria had no hindu nor native-american styled races, just black, white, arabesque and their mixes. Chandra has looked white from day one, any dark and reddish picmentation is just the ambience lightning from her fire.

Yes sir, I take fantasy art and character design commissions, PM me for rates.
She's supposed to be from whatever continent Jaya is, in Dominaria. Since she learnt to magic at her academy.
Nope. Chandra's from an unnamed plane. She studied magic at Keral Keep (Jaya's school) on the plane of Regatha well after her spark had ignited. As far as we know, she's never even been to Dominaria.
I've never heard her descibed as "indian" though. Pretty sure she's always been white.
maybe because chandra is indian and means moon.
but i doubt that she was intended to be indian
Yeah, I'm going with coincidence there. I doubt they designed a character who is effectively a female version of the Human Torch, and intended for her to be called "Moon."

You played JESUS?!?! I heard none of his guys stay in the graveyard, and once you think you have him beat he ALWAYS comes back to win within three turns. I like...WORSHIP him.

I continue to detest the chainmail art for Chandra. It's depressing that, the one time they make her the featured character of a set, they stick her with this hideous promotional art. I don't usually play Game Day in any case, but it seems like it will be an easy decision this season.
while the breast-shaped chestplate is rather ridiculous and impractical, I appreciate female characters that aren't just next-to-naked ridiculousness...
I like the style of the art and the design of it....would be happy to have this playmat, but I haven't won a gameday since Innistrad, so I'm not holding my hopes up

Sure, but Chandra has never been that. Her attire has been fairly practical and believable. This is a step backward.
As a whole, it's a nice piece of work, but why do I feel like her goggles are now a forced item of clothing on her?
They seem really out of place on this more mature Chandra. It's like all the other Chandra's were on the New Mutants, and this one is a full fledged X-Man. So, why the hold over? She has yet to actually wear them.
I like it, though I like Chandra Ablaze's artwork better. This one looks too real I guess. Also, the breast plate looks more like hard leather armor to me... and we all know hard leather adds two cup sizes lol. If you look at her shoulders, you can see the plate armor is on top of the same material that looks like her chest armor, though I'm not sure why she would wear that over the chainmail... girls these days...
I particularly like the way the word "CHAMPION" is huge on the playmat and in all caps, so that when you go back to playing casual games, people immediately know what's up.

Not crazy about these recycled car tire mats we have now.

Can't go wrong with the ol' orange and blue.
Dude, it's exactly the same attire from her first card, don't make things up just to have "reasons" to be mad at what's new.

As for the lifelike look; I like it.
