8 pages into a thread about a Magic set about 'conspiracy' and no one else has mentioned New World Order? Obviously this is all about Wizards admitting that M:tG is actually part of the depopulation plan and... ... ...
Sweet Celestia, the NWO is a stupid conspiracy theory, only slightly less silly than David Icke... I need to know less ridiculous conspiracy theorists
Seriously though, kind of hope it's a multiplayer thing - do love me some politics
I'd be very happy if it was Archenemy... seems like I may be one of the few people who enjoyed it so much, haha
Can't tell if trying to deconstruct my explanation or riffing a joke

It could just be a novel written by WotC. Kinda like when they made that novel which featured special art of Jace Beleren.
The idea is less impressive then "space the convergence" but they only have the one name. If it was a set they would have three different names registered and it's not a new format either because it sounds too hokey for a name.
I'm guessing novel with limited print promos. Possibly special art for a planeswalker.
Please see Post #112. You do not trademark book titles, in general.

It should be pointed out that when Bush the Elder said "new world order", he meant an end to the Cold War. Before that, the phrase appears in Latin on the dollar bill. Thus endeth the real-world references to the NWO.
Now, the NWO in Magic is just the latest thing to ruin Magic. It's totally affecting black because no downsides. Even if they've been secretly doing it since Zendikar. It ruins Constructed, even if it only applies to commons, whose appearance in Constructed is largely limited to removal and counters.
Seriously, the only thing that may be more misinterpreted than Bush's "new world order" speech is MaRo's.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
silly rabbit, people don't read threads before posting in them!
otherwise, this thread would've ended after the second or third page instead of having 8 more pages of people saying the same things or making suggestions that have already been discredited (i.e. books, movies, etc).

Yeah, all the common removal comes with strings attached. Burn can't kill huge creatures, fight requires you to jump through some hoops, pacifism and claustrophobia can be removed, etc. Doom blade has a restriction, but its more powerful and more final.
It's a way for Wizards to get us talking about what Conspiracy could be and then they'll take the convoluted ideas we make up trying to figure out what conspiracy is and sell it back to us!!! It's a conspiracy!
But in all seriousness I'm putting my money on an offical Assassinsesque or diplomacy/politics heavy multiplayer format.
I've got a theory. I'm on board with Conspiracy being some sort of variant format, but..
Anyway, this 'Conspiracy', in addition to being a new format, is probably going to reprint some old cards that never got to be in the new frame yet, of course.
But they're going to be really good stuff, to reduce the prices of said cards, and making Vintage/Legacy/Commander slightly more accessible, making sure everybody gets to hear about it by hyping it up like Commander, but there will only be one of each Conspiracy deck per card shop, excluding stores like
Walmart and Target so they don't upset the 'Collectors'. Bigger stores like Star City would get like, three of each or something.

A collector of Magic Cards. (As in, I collect Magic cards for fun, I don't care how much any of my cards are worth)
No sound reasoning or research. Just pure 100% wishful thinking. I've been hoping for this since I read the books from Odyssey and Torment
I think a movie would just be called "Magic: The Gathering". I don't see a reason to add an additional unremarkable word with no prior connection to the game or setting.

Conspiracy...I sure hope a movie....WOTC is owned by Hasbro, and Hasbro has the money...
In all seriousness, though, this is going to be the set where disgruntled magic players across the globe unmask the conspiracy that WOTC is using addictive ink...R&D's Secret Lair told us. But no one believed it. "It's an un-set," they said, "It's is a joke" they said. In reality, it was the perfect way to subtly introduce the idea to the fans....The plotline will be brilliant, featuring the "Snooty Developer" card type and the "Unsatisfied Collector" creature types finally taking center stage...
On second thought, that plot line sounds like the flavor insert in a duel deck...
Now WoTC and their weird trademarks are making me go insane. Maybe THATS the "conspiracy!"

What you are about to read the absolute truth about the deck that once nearly killed WotC's revenue.

i think a movie would do much better without a magic the gathering title associated to it.
call it the brothers war, or test of metal, or whatever the novels are named, and you'll get more people into seats because they wont' realize its a magic movie. you'll get magic fans no matter what, so who cares what its called, its about attracting nonmagic fans, and that requires distance from the card game, at least in terms of title.

there is already a "magic the gathering" movie... it is called The Sorcerer's Apprentice and has many hommages to unique magic cards and even the magic symbols. They are quite easy to miss, but if you look out for them during the movie, you will see all the gimmicks =)
For how much the main character annoyed me, I still love that movie.

Maybe Theros->Born from Gods->Journey into Nix->Conspiracy?
No. Wizards would file for a trademark years in advance, similar to how they develop their sets. And besides, we all ready have confirmation that this is a three set block, and have sound confirmation of 2014's set release schedule.

Maybe players are dealt 2-3 secret objective cards worth some value. A multiplayer game is played and then the actual winner is the person with the most value of completed objectives at the end.
Or maybe the objectives have an in-game reward when you complete them.

On phasing:
That would be ah-mazing!
Heroes and Villains Comics and Games
Watch "The Giant Sharkgate Chronicles"
Watch "Eating Made Easy"
I can see the climax from here, when Nicol Bolas appears out of nowhere and brags about everything going according to his grand scheme...
even fair, simple removal has been moved to uncommon. so sad.
